kaṉmam (p. 102) s. Moral actions, especially in their effects--as the cause of transmigrations and their accompanying joys and sorrows, pleasure and pains, intelligence or stupidity, &c., சஞ்சிதகன்மம். 2. In the Agamas, actions and their effects are of three classes, viz: 1. ஆகாமியம், moral actions, good and evil of the present life, considered as the source of future births with their suffering and enjoyment. 2. சஞ்சிதம், the accumulated actions of the soul in former births, the retributions of which are to be experienced in future transmigrations. 3. பிராரத்தம் or பிராரத்துவம், the enjoyment and sufferings apportioned to the soul in the present state --as the retributions of actions in former births. அவனைக்கொல்லாதேகன்மம்பிடிக்கும். Do not kill him, if you do, the action will seize you. கன்மங்கட்டுப்பட, inf. See கருமங் கட்டுப்பட. கன்மகாண்டம், s. A medical book treating of diseases, as caused by the sins of former births, and the means necessary to remove them, so that medicines may prove effectual, ஓர்வைத்தியநூல். கன்மசண்டாளன், s. See கரும சண்டாளன். கன்மசாந்தி, s. A ceremony for the expiation of the evil of former deeds, கருமநிவர்த்தி. கன்மஞ்செய்தகுடி, s. A family guilty of wicked actions in former births, now made manifest by their sufferings. கன்மத்தியாகம், s. Expiation of the evil of a former birth. கன்மத்துரோகி, s. A wicked wretch, a criminal, சண்டாளன். கன்மநிவர்த்தி--கன்மநிவாரணம், s. See கருமநிவர்த்தி. கன்மந்தொலைய, inf. To become extinct, to be worked or eaten out and terminated--as former evil deeds. கன்மபந்தம், s. [as கருமபந்தம்.] The bond or connexion between the sins of former births and their subsequent punishment. கன்மபரிபாகம், s. Ripening, or expiration of the accumulated merit of the actions of former births, கன்மவொழிவு. கன்மபாதகம், s. A heinous crime. கன்மபாதகன், s. One guilty of some heinous crime, கொடியபாதகன். கன்மபூமி, s. The earth as the theatre of moral actions, or place where virtue and vice are practised, and their respective merit and demerit accumulated, பூலோகம். கன்மம்பிடிக்க, inf. To attend, follow, or pursue--as the guilt of crimes personified. கன்மம்புசிக்க, inf. To experience the good or evil of former actions. கன்மவலை, s. The net of moral actions, கன்மபாசம், i. e. the entanglements of births, or actions and their result, in subsequent transmigrations. கன்மவாதனை, s. See கருமவேதனை. கன்மரோகம்--கன்மவியாதி, s. See கருமவியாதி. கன்மவுடம்பு, s. Bodies assumed, as a result of former deeds, கன்மசரீரம். கன்மாதி, s. Funeral rites, &c., for deceased ancestors, கர்மாதி. கன்மி, s. A heinous sinner, a perpetrator of crimes, கருமி. கன்மேந்திரியம், s. The five organs of action, தொழிற்கருவி. See இந்திரியம். 68)

cēṭṭi (p. 207) --சேஷ்டி, க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To be in exercise, be in operation, go forward as operations, be produced, effected, educed, evolved, இயங்க; [ex சேஷ்டை.] (p.) சேஷ்டிப்பிக்க, inf. v. a. To effectuate; to produce effects. operations, &c., to educe, evolve, carry on the operations of nature; to cause creatures to be active, to perform moral works, and to experience the fruits of actions. by furnishing them with bodies and directting the circumstance of their lives, &c., இயக்க. 30)

peṟu (p. 334) கிறேன், பெற்றேன், வேன், பெற, v. a. To obtain, attain, secure, possess, அடைய. 2. To beget, generate, செனிப்பிக்க. 3. To bring forth, to have children, பிரச விக்க. 4. To experience, to be affected favorably or unfavorably, அனுபவிக்க. 5. To have the benefit or enjoy the privilege of, சுகிக்க. 6. v. n. To be worth, to bring a price, to be valid for, விலைபெற. 7. To be worthy, தக.--Note. In some cases this verb when preceded by another in the infinitive has much the sense of பட, as அடையப்பெறும், it may be had; சொல்லப் பெறும், it may be said; காணப்பெற்றறேன், I obtained sight of. ஆதாயத்தைப்பெற்றான். He obtained profit. இதுபடும்பிரயாசத்தைப்பெறாது. It is not worth the trouble. பத்துப்பணம்பெறும். It is worth ten fanams. அவன்பெறுமானவன். He is a worthy man. ஒருகாசும்பெறாதவேலை. It is worth nothing. பெற்றமனம்பித்துப்பிள்ளைமனங்கல்லு. The heart of the mother is bile [water]; the heart of the child is stone. பெறாத, neg. rel. part. Insufficient, unsound, ineffectual, &c. பெறாதஈடு. Insufficient security. பெறாதகாரியம். An unsound argument, or ineffectual lawsuit. பெறாதபேச்சு. Worthless talk. ஆற்றப்பெறாதவேதனை. Intolerable torment. (p.) பே பேசாதே. Don't speak, don't tell. பேசத்தெரியாதவன், appel. n. One who is not a good speaker, or who cannot negociate, &c. பேசாதபேச்சு, s. Improper talk. 2. Indecent or obscene language. பேசாமடந்தை, s. A princess who resolved not to speak, but was forced to do so by Vikramaditya. பேசாமலிருக்க, inf. To be silent. பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்க, inf. To be conversing socially. பேசுவாய், s. A chief minister of the Tanjore kings. (Beschi.) பேச்சு, v. noun. Speaking, பேசுதல். 2. Speech, language, பாஷை. 3. Obligation which the child owes to its parent, especially the mother, for giving it birth, தாய்க்குச்செய்யு முரிமை. பெற்றதகப்பன், s. One's own father. பெற்றதாய், s. One's own mother. பெற்றபிள்ளை, s. One's own child. பெற்றவயிறெரிய, inf. To grieve, yearn, as a mother at the death or sufferings of her child. பெற்றவன், appel. n. A father, [fem. பெற்றவள்.] 2. [in combin.] One who has received, as பெயர்பெற்றவன், வரம்பெற்றவன். பெற்றார், appel. n. Parents, இன்றார். பெற்றார்பிறந்தார், appel. n. Parents, brothers, and sisters. பெற்றுவளர்க்க, inf. muṟi (p. 358) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. [also முரி.] To break, to separate, part in two-as a tree, a branch, &c., to become broken as an army, ஒடிய. (சது.) 2. To perish, கெட. படைமுறிந்தோடிப்போயிற்று. The army is broken, dispersed, defeated. பத்தியம்தப்பினால்மருந்துமுறிந்துபோம். If diet be unobserved, medicine becomes ineffectual. அவனுக்குமனமுறிந்துபோயிற்று. His heart is broken. இரசமுறியமருந்துசாப்பிடுகிறது........Taking medicine as an antidote to mercury. முறிகரை, s. [com. இடிகரை.] A broken bank or dam. See இடிகரை. முறிகிரந்தி, s. See முரிகிரந்தி. முறிதிரிசூலை, s. Disease of the spinal nerves. See சூலை. முறிந்துபோனபால், s. Curdled milk. முறிந்தோடிப்போக, inf. To be routed. முறியஅடிக்க, inf. [com. முறியடிக்க.] To beat, conquer, put to flight. முறியப்பேச, inf. [commonly with ம னம்.] To insult. முறிச்சல், v. noun. Breaking, as முறி யல். 2. veṭṭi (p. 399) s. Path, road, way, வழி. (சது.) 2. [colloq.] Vainness, uselessness, as வீண். 3. See வெட்டு. v. வெட்டியில்அலைந்தேன். I wandered to no purpose. அதுவெட்டியாய்ப்போயிற்று. It became ineffectual. வெட்டிப்பயல், s. A worthless fellow. 28)
