There are some varieties of honey; குறிஞ்சித்தேன், wild honey from the hills; கொசுத்தேன், பொந்துத்தேன், சிறுதேன், honey of a very small bee; பெருந்தேன், good honey from the hills produced by large bees; கொம்புத்தேன், honey from a bunch of a tree in a comb; செந்தேன், red honey of high flavor. தேன்கூட்டிலேகல்லைவிட்டெறியலாமா. Would one stone a bee's nest? தேனழித்தோர்கையைநக்காரோ. Will not those who handle honey lick their fingers? தேனும்பாலும்போலே. United as closely and sweetly as honey and milk. தேனிறால், s. One of the seven seas, the sea of honey, ஓர்கடல். தேன்கதலி, s. A sweet kind of plantain, ஓர்வாழை. தேன்குழல்--தேன்குழாய்--தேங்குழல், s. A kind of pastry fried in ghee, fritters, ஓர்பண்ணிகாரம். தேன்குழலுரல், s. A mould for making this pastry. தேன்குழற்கம்பி, s. A piece of pastry. தேன்கூடு, s. A bee's nest or hive, தே னீக்கூட்டம். 2. நாலு
nālu (p. 275) --நால், adj. Four, நான்கு. 2. (fig.) Many, general, multifold, universal, all, பல, as நாலுவித்தையும்.--Note. In combination before, க, ச, த, ப, the ல், becomes ற் and before ஞ, ந, ம, it is changed to ன்; sometimes to லா as நாலாகாரியமும், divers matters, various affairs, concerns, circumstances. நாலுகல்வியும். Different branches of knowledge. நாலுகாரியமுமறிந்தவன். A man of general knowledge, one acquainted with men and things. நாலுகையிலும். On all hands, on all sides. நாலுசாதியும். All the castes. 2. Various castes, several castes. நாலுதிக்கும். The four cardinal points. quarters, regions. 2. On all sides, in all directions. நாலுதிக்கிலுஞ்சிதறுண்டுபோக. To be scattered in different directions. நாலுதெருவுந்திரிகிறான். He strolls, or wanders through all the streets. நாலுமுக்கிலுமெதிர்தார்கள். They faced him on all sides. நாலையும்பார்த்துச்செய்யவேண்டும். One should act with due consideration of the whole matter. ஆலும்வேலும்பல்லுக்குறுதிநாலுமிரண்டுஞ்சொல்லுக் குறுதி. As the splint of the banyan and வேல் trees gives strength to the teeth (by rubbing them), so நாலடியார், and குறள், give strength to the speech. நாலடி--நாலடியார், s. The title of a poetical book on morals having four lines to each verse, and four hundred verses; or the book which ascended, according to the legend, four feet against the stream of the river Veiga, at Madura. நாலாஞ்சடங்கு--நாலாநாட்சடங்கு, s. Bathing of the new married pair on the fourth day with the ends of their cloths tied together. நாலாமுறைக்காய்ச்சல், s. Quartan fever. நாலாம்வருணம், s. The Sudras; (lit.) the fourth caste, சூத்திரசாதி. நாலாயிரப்பிரபந்தம், s. Four thousand poems made by twelve ஆழ்வார்கள். நாலாவிதம், s. [probably a change of நானாவிதம்.] Various kinds, varieties, sundry modes, &c. நாலுபேருமறிய--நாலுபேர்அறிய, inf. (adverbially) Publicly, before all, generaly or universally known. நால்வகைத்தோற்றம், s. The births of four kinds. See தோற்றம். நால்வர், s. The four persons, நான்கு பேர். 2. Four devotees of Siva, சம்பந்தர் முதலியநால்வர். நால்வர்வாக்குதேவர்வாக்கு. A superficial bite, மேற்கடி. பருங்காரியம், s. [com. பெருங்காரியம்.] A great or serious matter. பருங்குடல், s. One of the intestines, the colon, மலவாகி. பருங்கை, s. One disposed to give liberally or by the handful, உதாரமுள்ளகை. 2. Opulence, riches on a large scale, பெருஞ்செல்வம். பருந்தலை, s. A large head, பெரியதலை. 2. A rash, daring, haughty person, மேட் டிமைக்காரன். 3. A respectable, masterly, dignified or opulent man, பெருமையிற்சிறந் தோன். பருந்தலைக்கறையான், s. Large headed white ants. பருந்தலைக்காரர், s. That which is crude, unrefined, unfinished; imperfect, as a treatise, translation, discourse, &c., superficial knowledge, பரும்படியானபொருள். (p.) பருமட்டம்--பருமட்டு, s.
