oḷir (p. 84) கிறது, ந்தது, ஒளிரும், ஒளிர, v. n. To shine, give light, glare, be resplendent, to coruscate, ஒளிசெய்ய. (p.) ஒளிர்மருப்பு, s. Ivory, யானைக் கொம்பு. ஒளிர்முகம், s. Diamond, வைரக் கல். ஒளிர்வு, v. noun. Shining light, splendor, பிரகாசம். அவருடையமுகவொளிர்வைப்பார். Look at the lustre of his face--spoken ironically of one who being displeased, makes a sullen countenance. 17)

ōngku (p. 84) கிறேன், ஓங்கினேன், வேன், ஓங்க, v. a. To lift up, raise the arm, a weapon, a pestle, கையோங்க. 2. v. n. To grow high, rise above others, above the level; to be lofty--as a building, a mountain, a tree; to shoot forth, rise--as a flame, உயர. 3. To mount, soar, எழும்ப. 4. To rise to the surface--as planted rice when flooded, எழ. 5. To be exalted, dignified, eminent, பெருமையுற. 6. To improve, increase in wealth, renown, learning, &c.; to flourish, prosper, increase in size, &c., அதிகரிக்க. ஓங்கியவொள்வாள். The up-lifted glittering sword. நெஞ்சோங்குபரத்துற்றோர். Those whose hearts are placed on the Supreme God. (நன்னெறி.) துக்கசமுத்திரத்திலேயோங்குகிறான். He rises above the waves in the sea of sorrow. ஓங்கிப்பார்க்க, inf. To stand on tip-toe and look. ஓங்கிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To rise and catch, either by becoming erect, or standing on tip-toe, or jumping. ஓங்கியசெல்வம், s. Abounding wealth. பிறன்மனைநோக்காதபேராண்மைசான்றோர்க்கறனொ ன்றோவான்றவொழுக்கு. The magnanimity which disdains to look on another's wife, is it an act of propriety merely? It is exalted virtue. cirai (p. 185) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To shave, to cut or pare close to the surface--as by a razor, மயிர்கழிக்க; [ex Sa. Kshura, to cut.] 2. [vul. a corruption of திரைக்க.] To gather up the skirts of a garment--as சீலையைத்திரைக்க. வேலைமினக்கெட்ட அம்பட்டன் பூனைக்குட்டியைச் சிரைத்தானாம். The unemployed barber shaved the cat, i. e., the idle will be mis-employed. சிரைகூலி, s. Barber's hire. சிரைதொழில்--சிரைவேலை, s. [prov.] Shaving, tonsure. 2. (fig.) A wearisome, unprofitable task, வீண்வேலை. (c.) சிரைத்துப்போட, inf. [vul.] To shave the privities. (in abuse.) சிரைத்துப்போட்டார். He has shaved me, i. e., attempted my injury. சிரைப்பிக்க, s. A spoon used in cooking rice-cakes. Compare சட்டகப்பை. தட்டுச்சுளகு, s. A broad, shallow, winnowing fan, commonly square. தட்டுச்சுற்று, v. noun. Waving a salver with burning camphor before an idol. சோற்றுத்தட்டு, s. A perforated cover for straining congy water from boiled rice. பூந்தட்டு, s. A salver for presenting flowers. தட்டுமணி, s.
