To waver, quiver, totter, not being able to support a weight--as a slender waisted woman is poetically described to waver in walking, from the weight of her breasts, தள்ளாட. 3. (p.) Conjectural circumstance--as a rustling among leaves may excite conjecture of a snake being there, ஐயம். அசையாநிலை, s. A fixed state, immovableness, steadfastness. அசையாமணி, s. A bell seldom rung; attached to the royal palace to inform the sovereign of any calamity of other extraordinary event, ஆராய்ச்சிமணி. அசையாமை, neg. v. noun. Firmness, fixedness, immovableness. அசைவாட, inf. To hover, move or stir--as wind on the surface of water. அசைவு, v. noun. Shaking, moving, motion, அசைதல். 2. A kind of swinging shelf, ஊசல். 3. Motion, passion, emotion as applicable to the qualities of the mind, மனவெழுச்சி. 4. Stir, bustle, agitation, சஞ்சலம். 5. Weariness, failure, fainting, சோர்வு. 3)

Transposing the lines of a verse without destroying the sense, அடிமாற்றுகை. 2. A verse so formed, ஓர்பா, as, அங்கண்மதியமரவின்வாய்ப்பட்டென்ப, பூசல்வாயாப்புலம்புமனைகலங்கி. அடிமறிமண்டிலவாசிரியப்பா, s. One of the four kinds of ஆசிரியம், the lines of which are interchangeable at pleasure, the meaning remaining the same, ஓர்வகையாசிரியப்பா. அடிமறிமாற்றுப்பொருள்கோள், s. Construction in which the lines of a stanza are interchangeable, the harmony and meaning remaining the same, or the harmony only slightly affected. One of the forty-three kinds of rhyme in which the first word of a line has a meaning opposite to that of the next, செய்யுட்டொடை யிலொன்று, as, இருள்பரந்தன்னமாநீர்மருங்கின், நிலவுகுவித்தன்னவெண்மணலொருசிறை, where darkness and moonlight are opposite. அடிமோனைத்தொடை, s. One of the forty-three kinds of rhyme in which each line begins with the same letter, ஓர் வகை மோனைத்தொடை. அடியடியாக, adv. [prov.] In succession, as the descent of title, &c., தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாக. அடியந்தாதி, s. A repetition in verse. See அந்தாதி. அடியளபெடை, s. Prolonging the sounds of long vowels at the beginning of every line, தொடைவிகற்பத்தொன்று. அடியறுக்கி, s. A flat piece of wood by which the potter marks his work and cuts it from the wheel below, மட்கலமறுக்குங்கருவி. அடியனாதி, s. Time immemorial, antiquity, தொன்றுதொட்டுள்ளகாலம். அடியார், s. [sing. அடியான்--அடி யாள்.] Slaves, servants as applied to devotees in reference to their deity, and used by persons of themselves in addressing superiors, to show respect, obedience or submission, தொண்டர். அடியிட, inf. To set on foot, commence an undertaking, a law suit, &c., தொடங்க. 2. To make a beginning in braiding--as the bottom of a basket, the first end of a mat, &c., பாய்முதலியவை முடைதற்கு அடியிட. அடியுரம், s. [prov.] Ancestral property, original stock. 2. Crop of a past year reserved for the sustenance of the following. 3. Manure put on the soil round a tree, &c., எரு. 4. A triangular instrument with spikes, which, however placed, has one spike upward to pierce the feet of men or cattle; used in war, &c., a caltrop. அடிவயிறு, s. The lower part of the belly, the abdomen, கீழ்வயிறு. அடிவரலாறு, s. Source, principle, cause, காரணம். 2. Beginning, origin, bottom of a thing, தொடக்கம். 3. Ancient lines of ancestry, வமிசவரலாறு. அடிவரலாறாகத்தெரிதல். Understanding from the first. அடிவருட, inf. To chafe, stroke, or shampoo the legs of another. அடிவாரம், s. aẕi (p. 32) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், அழிய, v. n. To decay, degenerate, perish, be corrupted, ruined, wasted, blighted, effaced, obliterated, abolished, demolished, annihilated, கெட. 2. To fail (as a promise), be frustrated as a hope, &c., be refuted, தவற. அழிகரு, s. Abortion, கருவழிவு. அழிகுட்டி, s. A miscarriage, an abortion applied chiefly to brutes--the casting of the young, வயிற்றில்மரித்தது. அழிந்தோரைநிறுத்தல், v. noun. One of the eight constituent parts of virtue, அறத்துறுப்பு. அழிபுண், s. One who makes excuses for not paying debts, restoring property, &c., புரட்டன். அழியாதபத்தினி, s. A name of D'hurupary, the wife of the Pandu princes. அழியாமுதல், s. Property devoted or entailed in perpetuity to a temple or other charity, நிலையான ஆஸ்தி. 2. God, கடவுள். அழியாமை, neg. v. noun. Incorruption, immortality, imperishableness, கெடாமை. அழிவழக்கு, s. An unjust lawsuit, a groundless prosecution, a frivolous or groundless defence, a lost lawsuit, அநி யாயவழக்கு. கற்பழியாதபெண், s. A pure virgin. அழிகை, v. noun. Destruction, decay, ruin, சிதைவு. அழிவு, v. noun. Decay, injury, ruin, loss, desolation, the act of perishing. கேடு. 2. That which has perished of itself, கெட்டது. 3. āṭi (p. 38) s. The month of July, கர்க் கடகமாதம். (c.) 2. (p.) The twenty-first lunar asterism, உத்திராடநாள். 3. Mirror, கண்ணாடி. ஆடிக்கரு, s. Dark clouds in July regarded as indicative of plentiful rains in the ensuing monsoons. ஆடிக்கருவழிந்தால் மழைகுறைந்துபோம். If the teeming clouds in July discharge their contents, the rains will fail in the ensuing season. ஆடிக்கழைக்க, inf. To take away or separate the newly married woman from her husband, and to put her under her parents during the month of July of their first year of marriage. This separation is indispensable to prevent conception in that month, and delivery in the coming April, which is believed to bring ruin upon the family. ஆடிப்பண்டிகை, s. The first day of July (ஆடி.) a day of feasting, mutual visits, &c., when the sun is supposed to enter on its southern course. ஆடிப்பெருக்கு, s. A festival held on the day when the Cavery over-flows in July. 8)

irṇṭu (p. 49) s. and adj. Two, இரண்டா மெண்.-- As an adjective prefix, it often becomes இரு and ஈர், double, இரட்டிப்பான-as இருநிறம், two colors, a double color; ஈர லகு, two syllables. See அலகு. இரண்டிலொன்றுசொல்லு. Say either this or that. நாடிரண்டுபட்டது. The country is divided into two factions. இரட்ட, inf. To double, repeat a motion, sound, action, &c., to reiterate. See இரட்டிக்க. இரட்டாங்காலி, s. [prov. prop. இரட்டைமரம்.] A double tree--especially of the palmyra species. இரட்டி, s. Double quantity, twice as much, இருபங்கு. அதற்கிரட்டிதருவேன். I will give double the quantity. பத்திரட்டி, s. Twice ten. இரட்டிக்க, inf. To double, repeat, reiterate, இரட்ட. 2. (c.) To return --as a disease, வியாதிமக்களிக்க. 3. To plough the second time, always crosswise, இரண்டாமுறையுழ. 4. To differ from, be discrepant, &c., வேறுபட. 5. To disagree--as different kinds of food eaten at once, to be indigested, போசனம் ஒவ்வா திருக்க. இந்தச்சாட்சியந்தச்சாட்சிக்கிரட்டிக்கிறது. This evidence differs from the other. மகரமிரட்டித்தது. The consonant ம், is doubled. நோயிரட்டிக்கின்றது. The pain is double what it was. 2. The disease has returned. இரட்டித்தசெலவு, s. Double expense. இரட்டித்துச்சொல்ல, inf. To repeat, say a thing a second time. 2. To make a discrepant statement, or a statement different from that of another. உழவிரட்டிக்க, inf. To plough the second time. இரட்டிப்பு, s. Two-fold, twice as much, a double quantity. 2. v. noun. Doubling, making two-fold. இரட்டு, s. Two-fold, இருமடங் கு. (p.) 2. (c.) Double-threaded cloth, either coarse or fine, sack-cloth, ஓர்வ கைச்சீலை. இரட்டுப்பை, s. A sack made of coarse cloth. இரட்டுறமொழிய, inf. To state a rule so that it may comprise another, the one plainly apparent, the other to be made out by study; or the use of terms of double meaning either of which serves to make good sense, though the ideas will be wholly different; or the use of terms by which one thing is employed and another implied. See உத்தி. (p.) இரட்டை, s. Two things naturally conjoined--as a double fruit, leaf, &c.; twins, two things alike, இரண்டொன் றானது. 2. (p.) Gemini in the zodiac, two females, மிதுனராசி. 3. Even, even numbers--opposed to ஒற்றை, இரட்டையெண்-as 6, 8, 24, &c. 4. A couple, tow, சேரடு. 5. A female songster, பாடுவிச்சி. ஒற்றையிரட்டைபிடித்தல். A kind of play, playing at odd and even. இரட்டைக்கிளவி, s. Double words imitating certain sounds, ஒலிக்கு றிப்பில்வருமிரட்டைமொழி--as சளசளவெனமழை த்தாரைகான்றன. (The clouds) poured a shower of rain, with a murmuring sound. (இராமா.) (p.) இரட்டைச்சுழி, s. The symbol ை of the vowel ஐ. 2. Two curls in horses, cattle, &c.--as இருசுழி. இரட்டைத்தொடை, s. One of the forty-three kinds of rhyme in which the same word is repeated through the line, (see தொடை)--as ஒக் குமே யொக்குமே யொக்குமே யொக்கும் விளக்கினு ட்சீறெரியொக்குமே யொக்கும் குளக்கொட்டிப்பூவி னிறம், the color of the flower of the water-plant கொட்டி, resembles the delicate flame of the lamp. (p.) இரட்டைப்படவெண்ண, inf. To count even, making a series increasing by a common ratio--as 2, 4, 6, &c. இரட்டைப்பாக்கு, s. An arecanut with two eyes producing, if planted, two trees. இரட்டைப்பிள்ளை, s. Twins. 2. [prov.] A double young areca or cocoa-nut tree. இரட்டைப்புரிக்கயிறு, s. A rope or string made of two strands. இரட்டைமணிமாலை, s. A poem consisting of twenty verses of வெண்பா and கலித்துறை, or நேரிசைவெண்பா and ஆசி ரியவிருத்தம், and composed according to the rules of அந்தாதி. See பிரபந்தம். (p.) இரண்டகம், s. I am like an ant between two fires; i. e. I am in straits. இருதலைப்பட்சி, s. A kind of bird fabled to have two heads. இருதலைமணியன், s. A snake said to have two heads--one at each end. இருதாரைக்கத்தி, s. Two-edged sword or knife. இருதிணை, s. The two classes உயர்திணை and அஃறிணை into which Tamil nouns are divided. (See திணை.) 2. See பிரபந்தம். (p.) இருபிறப்பு, s. [literally.] Two births, இருசனனம்--said of persons or things twice born--as 1. The moon, சந்திரன். 2. Birds and other oviparous creatures, முட்டையிற்பிறப்பன. (See அண்ட சம்.) 3. The teeth, பல். 4. Feathers, சிறகு. 5. Brahmans, பார்ப்பார். (p.) இருபிறப்பாளர், s. The twiceborn caste--Brahmans; investiture with the sacred thread being deemed a kind or regeneration, அந்தணர். இருபெயரொட்டுப்பண்புத்தொகை, s. Omission of ஆகிய or ஆய where two nouns are used in opposition, ஓர்பண்புத் தொகை--as ஆதிபகவன். God the source (of all things.) இருபொருள், s. Learning and riches. See பொருள். (p.) இருமடங்கு, s. As much again, two-fold, இரண்டுபங்கு. இருமடியாகுபெயர், s. An ஆகு பெயர் of the second degree--as கார், black when used to signify a cloud is called ஆகுபெயர்; but when used for the rainy season, it is called இருமடியாகுபெயர். (p.) இருமணம், s. Pleasant and unpleasant odors, நற்கந்ததுர்க்கந்தங்கள். (p.) இருமரபு, s. The two ancestral lines--paternal and maternal, தாய்மரபு தந் தைமரபு. (p.) இருமனம், s. Hesitancy, dubiousness, doubt, irresolution, indecision. 2. Double-dealing, treachery. இருமை, s. Duality, a two-fold state, two, இருதன்மை. 2. The two states --the present and the future, or this life and that to come--whether as distinct from the body or as reunited with it in another birth, இம்மைமறுமை. (p.) இருவகைத்தோற்றம், s. The two classes of beings produced--சரம் and அச ரம். See தோற்றம். (p.) இருவாட்டித்தரை, s. [prov.] Land compounded of earth and clay, மணலுங் களிப்புமானநிலம். இருவாய்க்குருவி, s. A kind of bird, Hormbill, buceros, ஓர்குருவி. இருவினை, s. The two classes of moral actions--good and evil, in every one of which there is merit or demerit, leading to future births in which they are to be suffered or enjoyed, while they keep the soul from union with deity, நல்வினை தீவினை. (p.) ஈர். An adjective of இரண்டு, two --used before words beginning with vowels, &c., as இரு is used before consonants--as ஈராயிரம், two-thousand; இருபது, twenty. ஈரசைச்சீர், s. A poetic foot of two அசை, ஆசிரியச்சீர். (p.) ஈரடி, s. Two lines, இணையடி. (p.) 2. That which is bifurcate or two forked, கவர். 3. Doubtfulness, fluctuation, சந்தேகம். ஈரடிப்பயன், s. Ambiguity in conversation, equivocation, double-mindedness, உபயார்த்தம். 2. Double-dealing, acting under-handedly so as to suit both parties, கபடம். 3. Uncertainty, doubtfulness, சந்தேகம். 4. [prov.] Diverseness, disagreement--as of a report or account differently related, விகற்பம்; [ex அடி, step, course, et பயன், meaning.] ஈரடிப்பா, s. A stanza of two lines. (p.) ஈரடிமடக்கு, s. [in poetry.] Repetition of a foot or feet in two lines with different meanings, வந்தசொல்லேயிரண்டடி யினும்வரப்பாடுவது. See மடக்கு. ஈரடிவெண்பா, s. A kind of வெ ண்பா of two lines--the குறள்வெண்பா. (p.) ஈரடுக்கொலி, s. Reiterated words imitative of sound--as நெறுநெறென்றுமுறிந் தது, it broke with a reiterated crash; வண்டில்கடகடென்றோடிற்று, the carriage rolled along with a rattling noise. (p.) ஈரறம், s. The two kinds of அறம், or virtuous actions according to the shasters; viz.: இல்லறம், matrimony and its accompanying household virtues; and துறவறம், the virtues of ascetic practice. (p.) ஈரறிவுயிர், s. Beings that have the sense of feeling and tasting--as snails, shells, &c., பரிசமுஞ்சுவையுமறியும்நந்துமுதலிய செந்து. (p.) ஈராசிடைவெண்பா, s. A species of வெண்பா, with two ஆசு affixed to the end of the third foot of the second line. (p.) ஈராடி--ஈராட்டி, s. [prov.] A changeable state of the wind and weather, previous to the change of monsoon, indicative of rain. 2. A calm, a lull, the failing of the wind at this season, காற்றினமைவு. 3. Fickleness, hesitation, fluctuation of mind, நிலையின்மை. இக்காரியத்திலென்மனமீராடிப்படுகின்றது. In this affair my mind wavers. ஈராட்டி, s. [prov.] Two wives. ஈரி, s. A play of girls, two stones being taken up from the ground while a third is tossed in the air, ஓர்விளையாட்டு. (c.) ஈரிலைப்பயிர், s. A young shoot when two leaves appear. ஈரிழை, s. Double-thread used in some kinds of cloth--as in muslin. ஈரிழைச்சல்லா, s. A muslin whose warp consists of two untwisted threads. ஈரீற்றா, s. A cow that has had two calves. (p.) ஈருடல், s. [in mythology.] Beings possessing the form, in part, of two bodies--as Vishnu manifested in the form of man and lion, இருதன்மைத்தாயவுடல். (p.) ஈருயிர்க்காரி, s. The two-lived --used of a pregnant female. (c.) ஈரெச்சம், s. See எச்சம். ஈரொட்டு, s. Uncertainty, doubt, crisis, criticalness, state of suspense, conditional bargain. (c.) நோயாளியின்காரியமீரொட்டாயிருக்கின்றது. The case of the patient is doubtful. ஈரொட்டாகச்சொல்ல, inf. To speak doubtfully, uncertainly, ambiguously. ஈரொட்டாகவாங்க, inf. To take things conditionally, that is, if approved; or, as a merchant, to pay for them if sold. 6)

il (p. 55) . Not, non-existence, death, மரணம். (p.) 2. The root of one of the negative symbolic verbs, (see அல்) expressive of total or exclusive negation of the thing or quality--the opposite of உள். Sometimes in poetry it stands as a contraction of இல்லை. இற்றிறம்பிலர். They fail not in the performance of domestic duties; [ex இல், house; திறம்பு, failure; இலர், who are not.] இணையில்நெஞ்சமே. O! incomparable mind; O! mind debased beyond comparison. இலி, s. A person, or thing possessed of nothing. பிறப்பிலி, s. He who is without birth--the Supreme Being, கடவுள். 2. Siva, சிவன். (p.) இறையிலி, s. He who is exempt from taxes; [ex இறை, tribute; இல், not; இ, affix.] இந்தநிலமிறையிலி. This field is not taxed. இல்பொருள், s. An impossibility, an absurdity, இல்லாதபொருள். இல்பொருளுவமம்--இல்லுவமை, s. [in rhetoric.] Comparison with a thing that does not exist, உவமையணியி லொன்று--as எல்லாக்கமலத்தொழிலுந்திரண்டொ ன்றின் வில்லேர்புருவத்துவேனெடுங்கணல்லாண் முகம்போலும், the beauty of the face of the damsel whose eyes resemble a lance, and brow, a bow, is equal to the aggregate beauty of all lotuses. இல்லாதபொய், s. Downright lie, முழுப்பொய். இல்லாதவன், neg. appel. noun. One utterly destitute. இல்லாததும்பொல்லாதுஞ்சொல்ல, inf. To tell lies and speak evil of one. இல்லாமல், ver. part. Without. இல்லாமற்போனால், If not, otherwise. இல்லாமலிருக்க, inf. To be without, be wanting, be absent. இல்லாமை, neg. v. noun. Absence, destitution, privation, இன்மை. 2. Poverty, want, தரித்திரம். இல்லார்--இல்லோர், s. The poor, the destitute, those who are in want, தரித்திரர். இல்லெனல், v. noun. Death, extinction, சாதல். 2. Denying, இல்லையென் றசொல்லல். இல்லை, s. Negation, இன்மை. 2. A defective verb implying absolute negation, added to nouns, pronouns, verbs or participles. 3. Death, extinction of life, சாதல். இல்லையாகியவென்மகற்காண்பன். I shall see my deceased son. இல்லையாகில்--இல்லையென்கில்--இல்லையெ ன்றால். If not, or else, otherwise. வருகிறையோ இல்லையோ? Will you come or not? ஒருக்காலுமில்லை. Never. இதுவுமில்லை--அதுவுமில்லை--இரண்டுமில்லை. Neither this nor that, neither of the two. ஒற்றுமில்லை. Nothing. துப்புறவில்லை--பரிச்சேதமில்லை. Not at all. அளவில்லை. Beyond measure, immeasurable. இன்னதென்றில்லை. It is not described what it is, no matter what. இவ்வளவென்றில்லை. It is unascertained, not estimated, not measured. இல்வழக்கு, s. Unjust lawsuit, பொய்வழக்கு. எண்ணில்காலம், s. Incalculable time. அருளிலார், s. Those devoid of benevolence. இன்றி, v. part. from the root இல். Without. தாமதமின்றி. Without delay. ஒருபிரயாசமுமின்றி. Without labor, or difficulty. பாவமின்றிநடக்கிறது அரிது. It is difficult to live without sinning. 23)

iḷai (p. 56) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To tire, grow weary, be fatigued, exhausted, to languish, தொய்ய. 2. To grow emaciated, be lean, meagre, &c., மெலிய. 3. To be worn out with age, sickness, &c., to become decrepit, தளர. 4. To become poor, be worn out--as land by continued cultivation, want of manure, &c., சக்திகுறைய. 5. To grow weak and wanting in luxuriance or fruitfulness--as trees, rice, &c., to fade--as a color, வளங்குறைய. 6. To fail before a foe or rival, to yield to superior force, தோற்க. ஒருத்தனுக்கொருத்தனிளையான். One is not inferior to the other, one will not yield to the other (they will fight till they die, except they to parted). இளைத்தோய, inf. To be exhausted from over-exertion. இளைப்பு, v. noun. Weariness, fatigue, exhaustion, faintness, மெலிவு. இளைப்பறுதி, s. Recruiting, recovery from fatigue. இளைப்பாயிருக்க, inf. To be wearied. இளைப்பாற, inf. To rest, take rest, repose, இளைப்புத்தணிய. இளைப்பாறுமண்டபம், s. A room for rest or repose--1. For idols after a procession, before they are set in the usual place. 2. For kings, or other distinguished personages after journey. to wash their feet, &c. before entering their house, வசந்தமண்டபம். இளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To refresh, cause to rest, show civilities, &c. to travellers or weary persons, இளைப்பொழிக்க. வழியிளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To entertain and refresh travellers, offering them a seat, water to wash their feet, fanning them, &c. மன்றலந்தென்றல்வீசி வழியிளைப்பாற்றினாளே. She (the Ganges) refreshed them by causing the fragrant south wind to blow. (பாரதம்.) இளைப்பாற்றி, s. Rest, resting, repose, cessation, இளைப்புத்தணிகை. இளைப்புற, inf. To be fatigued, to grow weary. 10)

iẕukku (p. 55) s. A fault, defect, deficiency, blemish, ஈனம். 2. Slackness, தளர்தல். 3. A failure, deviation, obliquity, defection, blunder, mistake, folly, தவறு. 4. (p.) Forgetfulness, மறதி 5. Baseness, meanness, degradation, தாழ்வு. 6. Disgrace, reproach, taunt, நிந்தை. 7. Falsehood, பொய். இழுக்குடையபாட்டிற்கிசைநன்று. A good metre will set off an indifferent poem. தன்குலத்துக்கிழுக்குவைத்தான். He has brought disgrace on his family or caste. இழுக்கற, inf. [used adverbially.] Free from imputation. இழுக்குச்சொல், s. Reproach, taunt. 2. Faulty expression, incorrect phraseology. இழுக்குடையான், s. A worthless or mean person. 39)

iẕukku (p. 55) கிறேன், இழுக்கினேன், வேன், இழுக்க, v. n. To deviate from rule, to swerve from, neglect the performance of duty, to fall from a higher rank, to be disgraced, தவற. 2. To slip, slide, fall, deviate from the course or path, to stumble, flinch, வழுவ. 3. To fail, or be inferior to, தாழ. 4. To err, mistake, பிறழ. 5. To be reduced in strength, to become emaciated, கெட. காரியத்திலிழுக்கிப்போனான். He has failed in his attempt. இழுக்கடிக்க, inf. To put off the time of payment, to delay payment. இழுக்கம், v. noun. Failure, deviation, swerving, shrinking, flinching from, தளர்வு. 2. Backwardness, slackness, procrastination, தாமதம். 3. Fault, defect, ஈனம். (p.) இழுக்கல், v. noun. Slipperiness, sliding, slippery ground, வழுக்குநிலம். 40)

uku (p. 59) கிறது, ந்தது, ம், உக, v. n. To be shaken off, to fall or drop off--as fruits, &c.; to shed feathers, hair; to become separated; to cast off as the nails, &c., உதிர. 2. To be strewed, scattered, poured out, &c., சிந்த. 3. To trickle or fall down--as rain or tears, சொரிய. 4. To be divested of, liberated from, கழல. (p.) நெஞ்சுகவாய்மலரன்னகண்ணீர்மல்க. The heart fainting and the lotus-flower like eyes shedding tears. மஞ்சுகவார்த்தன. The (bells) sounded so loud as to cause the clouds to fall. உள்ளமுடைந்துக்கக்கால். If the heart be broken and utterly fail. (குறள்.) உயிருக. The soul departing. உடுத்திரளுதிர்ந்தெனவுகுவதந்தமே. Teeth scattered as if multitudes of stars had fallen. அங்கணத்துளுக்கவமிழ்து. Delicious food scattered in the mud. (குறள்.) 7)

uñṟṟu (p. 59) கிறேன், உஞற்றினேன், வேன், உஞற்ற, v. a. To enterprise, act will energy, attend to with energy and perseverance, to perform, execute, முயற்சி செய்ய. 2. To institute a lawsuit, prosecute, வழக்கோத. (p.) உலைவின்றித்தாழாதுஞற்றுபவர். Those who persevere with untiring energy. பலதருமம்பதியபிமதமற்றுஞற்றினள். She performed various charitable acts without her husband's consent. (பாரதம்.) உஞற்று, v. noun. Energy, enterprise, exertion, ஊக்கம். 2. Unfailing application, untiring perseverance, முய ற்சி. 3. Prosecution at law, institution of a lawsuit, வழக்கோதுகை. (p.) 68)

utvu (p. 60) கிறேன், உதவினேன், வேன், உதவ, v. a. To help, aid, assist, benefit, succor, facilitate, கொடுக்க. 2. v. n. To yield, contribute, சகாயமாயிருக்க. 3. To be fit or useful, தகுதியாயிருக்க. உதவாப்பட்சம். When it fails to be serviceable. இதுமருந்துக்குதவும். This will serve for medicine. 2. This will avail as an ingredient for medicine. இந்தக்குடைமழைக்குதவும். This umbrella will be of use in case it rains. இருந்தபணமுமுதவாமற்போயிற்று. Even the money I possessed was not available. ஊர்திகளுமுதவல்வேண்டும். Please to grant me conveyances also. (ஸ்காந்தம்.) தக்கன்மீட்டுமாயிரந்தவச்சிறாரையுதவினான்.
