ktmpai (p. 90) s. Cocoanut-husk, or fibrous rind which covers the nut, தேங்காய்ம ட்டைநார். கதம்பைக்கயிறு, s. Rope made of the fibres of the cocoanut-husk. கதம்பைதிரிக்க, inf. To twist a rope of such fibres. கதம்பைப்புல், s. A kind of grass with twisted awns, ஓர்புல், Andropogon, L. 34)

kottai (p. 146) s. [vul.] Decay, rottenness, cariousness, blemish, சொத்தை. கொத்தைநூல், s. Cotton yarn with particles of the pod adhering to it. கொத்தைப்பல், s. Carious teeth. கொத்தையாராய, inf. To examine cloth in order to pick out the particles of husk or pod. கொத்தையுடல், s. A scabby state of body. கொத்தையும்நெருடுமானசீலை, s. A plant, Achyranthes corymbosa, (L.) சடைத்தேங்காய், s. [prov.] A cocoanut whose husk abounds with fibres. சடைநாகம், s. A kind of ornament worn by women on the hair, ஓரணிகலம். சடைநாய், s. A shaggy dog. (c.) சடைபற்றிப்போக, inf. To grow bushy, shaggy, rough, as hair. 2. To become thick, as branches. சடைபில்லை--சடப்பில்லை, s. A kind or round golden ornament for the head of women. Madras usage. In other places,லாக்கடி. சடைபின்ன, inf. To plait the hair. சடைப்பயிறு, s. A kind of grain. சடைப்பாசி, s. A kind of moss--as சடைச்சி, 2. சடைப்புல், s. A kind of grass. cirāy (p. 185) s. [usage.] Splint, splinter, shivered chips of palmyra or other timber, மரச்சிராய். 2. Fibres constituting the solid and other parts of palmyra timber, பன ஞ்சிராய். 3. [prov.] The hard and undurated part in a bubo or cancer, பருவின்முளை. சிராயருகுகிறது. The splinter causes pain. சிராய்தைக்க, inf. To run as a splinter into the foot. சிராய்த்தூள்--சிராய்ப்பொடி, s.
