urppu (p. 63) கிறேன், உரப்பினேன், வே ன், உரப்ப, v. n. and a. To whoop, vociferate inarticulately or otherwise--as in driving cattle, scaring away birds, beasts, or human beings, to menace or intimidate by shouts, to bluster, shout, call, அதட்ட. 2. To urge forward beasts of burden with shouts, துரத்த. 3. (p.) To pronounce with aspiration, as the second letter in each of the five series of Sanscrit gutterals, உரத் தொலிக்க. ஆனையையுரப்பிலிடு. Frighten away, or drive the elephants along. ஒருவரேயெதிரினிங்ஙனுரப்பியேதுரப்பர். If but one should oppose them, he may rout them all merely by a menacing shout. உரப்பிப்பார்க்க, inf. To use menace, boisterousness, &c., in order to try the courage of any one to beat him down, &c. உரப்பியடிக்க, inf. To attempt, overcome by boisterous talk, overcome in whole, or in part. உரப்பு, v. noun. Bluster, shout, vociferation, whoop, call, அதட்டுகை.

kṉṟu (p. 102) கிறேன், கன்றினேன், வேன், கன்ற, v. a. To become sore--as with a blow; as the feet with walking; the hands with first using a tool, &c., காயத்தினாற்கன்ற. 2. To be burnt with the sun, வெயிலினால்மு கங்கன்ற. 3. To grow hard and unfit for use --as fruits by injury in their growth--as plantains by the application of too much heat, in smoking or forcing them, நைய. 4. To grow hard and unrelishable--as vegetable curries, through failure of heat in cooking, பதனழிய. (c.) 5. (p.) To have the feelings wounded, to be aggrieved, விசனப் பட. 6. To be violent, enraged, கடுங்கோபங் கொள்ள.--Note. போதல் is commonly joined with the gerund of this verb. கன்றும்வயவேந்தர். Violent kings that are enraged. அவன்கைகன்றிப்போயிற்று. His hand is hurt, bruised, &c. கன்றினகுரல், s. Harshness of voice, deep or gutteral voice. கன்றுகாமம், s. Headstrong lusts. கன்றுசினம், s. Violent anger. கன்றல், s. Anger, கடுப்பு. 2.
