koṟi (p. 147) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To work or force off the husks from grains of rice with the fore-teeth--as persons, or with the beak--as birds; to bite or nibble grain, &c., பல்முதலியவற்றாற் கொறிக்க. 2. (fig.) To pick, eat but little; to piddle, கொஞ்சங்கொஞ்சமாயுண்ண. 3. [prov.] To make a ticking, clucking sound, கட்டுவிட்டொலிக்க. 4. To chirp--as a lizard, &c., பல்லிமுதலிய கொறிக்க. கொறிநெற்பதமாயிற்று. The paddy is grown so ripe that the husk can be easily forced off. அவன் என் தலையைக் கொறிக்கப்பார்க்கிறான். He attempts to nibble my head, i. e. to injure me. ஏன்சும்மாகொறிக்கிறாய்? [prov.] Why do you chatter in vain? கொறித்துப்பார்த்தல், v. noun. Trying rice that has been for husking, by biting, to ascertain whether it is dry enough. 2. There are different kinds of தடி--as இருப்புத் தடி, கிலுக்குத்தடி, குணுக்குத்தடி, சோட்டாத்தடி, நுகத் தடி, பாணாத்தடி, வளைதடி, which see severally. விறகுதடியாய்ப்போனான். He is greatly emaciated; (lit.) as fire-wood. [prov.] குயவனுக்குப் பலநாள்வேலை தடியடிக்காரனுக்குச்சற் றுநேரவேலை. Many day's work for the potter, but a few moment's for the breaker. தடிக்கம்பு, s. [loc. தடிக்கொம்பு.] A walking cane, or staff. தடிக்கம்புச்சாப்பாடு, v. noun. Flogging. See under சாப்பாடு. தடித்தனம், s. Rashness, passionateness, rudeness. தடிப்பயல், s. A stubborn person, a block-head. 2. A corpulent person. தடியடிக்காரன், s. A violent person, who acts inconsiderately. தடிமாடன், s. An impudent fellow; [ex மாடன், a demon.] தடியனாபிள்ளை--தடியாண்பிள்ளை, s. An impudent, or corpulent person. தடிபோட, inf. To measure by the long stick in the கிட்டிப்புள்ளு game. தடிமூக்குள்ளான், A kind of snipe. See உள்ளான். தடியன்--தடிமிண்டன், s. A stout, corpulent person, பருத்தவன். 2. A strong athletic man, ஆண்மையுடையவன். 3. An obstinate person, முருடன். குண்டாந்தடி, s. A baton. 6)

mukkāṭu (p. 356) s. [gen. முக்காட்டின்.] A veil, or part of a cloth, worn as a hood by females. (c.) வெட்கமேகெட்டு வெளிப்பட்டமுண்டைக்கு முக்கா டேது. Why does an impudent, bald-headed widow want a veil? முக்காடிட--முக்காடுபோட, inf. To veil, or cover the head by pulling up a part of the cloth. முக்காடுவாங்க, inf. To uncover the head. முக்காட்டங்கி--முக்காட்டுச்சீலை, s. A hood worn by females. முக்காட்டுக்கூறை, s. See கூறை. நிறைமுக்காடு, s. muṟai (p. 359) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. [com. for. விறை.] To become stiff, hard, to stiffen or prick up the ears, as a horse, நெறிக்க. 2. (fig.) To be haughty. செருப்புநனைந்துகாய்ந்துமுறைத்துக்கொண்டது............ The slipper has become stiff from having been wet. அவன்முறைத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான்........He is obstinate. முறைத்துப்பார்க்க, inf. [vul. முறைச் சுப்பார்க்க.] To look impudently, to stare. 2. To lift up the head, as beasts pricking up their ears. முறைப்பு, v. noun. Stiffness. 2. Haughtiness, impudence. 6)
