அங்கம்
angkam (p. 5) s. A limb, member, part or organ of the body, அவயவம். 2. Body, உடல். 3. Mark, sign, அடையாளம். 4. Skeleton, எலும்புக்கூடு. 5. Symmetry, well formed human or other shape as of letters, &c., as பாவனை. 6. (p.) A division of learning comprehending such science as is considered dependent on the Vedas; hence called வே தாங்கம், சாங்கம், உபாங்கம் and பிரத்தியாங்கம். 7. A country, ஓர்தேயம். 8. (p.) அங்கபடி--அங்கவடி, s. Stirrup, குதிரையங்கபடி. (c.) அங்கப்பிரதக்கணம்--அங்கப்பிரதட் சிணம், s. A mode of worship by rolling round a temple after a car, &c., turning to the right, in performance of a vow, &c.; (c.) ex பிர, before, et தட்சிணம், right. அங்கப்பிராயச்சித்தம், s. Expiation for bodily impurity, especially the oblation offered by the heir at the first funeral obsequies to remove the impurity contracted during the period of mourning. (c.) அங்கமாலை, s. A பிரபந்தம் or poem describing the principal members of the body, such as the eye, face, breasts, &c., in the female, and shoulders, arms, breast, &c., in the male. The order of description must be from the feet to the hair of the head, or from the head to the feet. (p.) அங்கயோகம், s. The eight qualities of a Yogi. See யோகம். (p.) அங்கரக்கா, s. [local] அங்கரட்சா. A jacket, மெய்ச்சட்டை. அங்கரட்சிணி, s. A coat of mail. (p.) அங்கராகம், s. Anointing the body with perfumes, sacred ashes, sandal, &c., ex ராகம், anointing. (p.) அங்கர், s. eccil (p. 73) s. Remains, or refuse of food, crumbs, orts (deemed impure), சேஷம். 2. Any thing defiled by contact with the mouth, saliva, &c., மிச்சில்; [ex எஞ்சு.] எச்சிற்கையாற்காக்கையுமோட்டான். He will not even scare away a crow with his hand while eating, lest any grain of rice fall thereby. எச்சிலாக்க--எச்சிற்படுத்த, inf. To defile food or any thing, by bringing it into contact with the mouth; to defile food by the hand, or spoon in feeding, உச்சிட்டப்படுத்த. 2. To deflour a woman, deprive a damsel of her virginity, either by force or with consent, கன்னிமைகெடுக்க. எச்சிலார், s. Low-caste people, இழிஞர். (p.) எச்சிலிலை--எச்சிற்கல்லை, s. The leaf on which one has eaten. எச்சிலுமிய--எச்சிலுமிழ--எச்சில் துப்ப, inf. To spit. (c.) எச்சில்வாய், s. Mouth unwashed after eating, கழுவாதவாய். எச்சிற்கலக்க, inf. To eat the food left by the bridegroom--as a Hindu bride does on the occasion of her marriage. 2. To eat the food left by others--as friends. எச்சிற்கலப்பு, s. The above ceremony. எச்சிற்காறியுமிழ், inf. To force up the phlegm and spit it out. எச்சிற்கிதம்பாட, inf. To assent to what is wrong from an unworthy motive. எச்சிற்குழி, s. A cavity in a court-yard, used as a spittoon, எச்சில் போடுங்குழி. எச்சிற்பட, inf. To become defiled--as food, &c., by saliva, or contact with the mouth. எச்சிற்பருக்கை, s. Grains of rice fallen while eating, சிந்திக்கிடக்குஞ்சோறு. எச்சிற்பேய், s. A diminutive demon exceedingly voracious, ஓர்பிசாசம். 2. A person very fond of dainties, பெ ருந்தீனிக்காரன். எச்சிற்றழும்பு--எச்சிற்றேமல், s. A kind of ring-worm supposed to be induced by contact with the saliva of others, தழுதணை. எச்சின்மாற்ற, inf. To purify a place after eating by smearing it anew with cowdung. கண்ணெச்சில், s. Evil imagined to be caused by other people's eyes. கண்ணெச்சிற்கழிக்க, inf. To perform a ceremony for the removal of the imagined inauspicious effect of evil eyes. (நைட.) 25)

kaṉṉi (p. 102) s. A virgin, a maiden, a young unmarried woman, குமரி. 2. Virgo, a sign of the zodiac, ஓரிராசி. Wils. p. 187. KANYA. 3. [in mythology] A river that flows into the sea at Cape Comorin, regarded as a sacred virgin, ஓராறு. (c.) 4. (p.) Youthfulness, tenderness, juvenility, இளமை. 5. Virginity, கற்புக்கெடாமை. 6. A woman, பெண். 7. The thirteenth lunar asterism, அத்தநாள். 8. The wild or Socotrine aloe, an evergreen, கற்றாழை. Aloe perfoliata. 9. A wild creeper, the காக்கணம். 1. Unfading, imperishable, eternal youth, freshness, vigor, evergreen, அறிவில்லாமை. 11. A female ascetic, தவப்பெண். 12. A female possessing eternal youth--spoken of the goddesses or celestial females, தெய்வப்பெண். 13. Durga, துர்க்கை. 14. A plant, காவிளை. (Rott.). கன்னிகழியாதஆண்பிள்ளை, s. A chaste youth. கன்னிக்கால், s. The first post set up in the wall of a new house facing south, decked with cloth, in imitation of a female, முதல்நாட்டுத்தம்பம். See கலியாணம். கன்னிக்கால்நாட்ட, s. To set up the first post in a large building. 2. To plant the first marriage post. கன்னிக்குட்டி, s. [prov.] The first kid of lamb. கன்னிக்கோழி, s. A pullet nearly arrived at maturity. கன்னிச்சவ்வு--கன்னிமுத்திரை, s. The hymen. கன்னித்திங்கள்--கன்னிமாதம், s. The month of September when the sun is in the sign virgo, புரட்டாசிமாதம். கன்னித்தீட்டு, s. The catamenia of a young woman, deemed impure in a higher degree than afterward. கன்னித்துவம்--கன்னிமை, s. Virginity, virgin age, கன்னித்தன்மை. கன்னிபுதன், s. Mercury in the sign virgo indicating learning in one born under its influence. கன்னிப்பருவம், s. The age of mature virginity. கன்னிப்பிள்ளைத்தாய்ச்சி, s. [prov.] A woman in her first pregnancy. கன்னிமதில், s. Imperishable fortress walls. கன்னிமார், s. Virgins, deified females who were pious virgins on earth, afterward born in deified forms, in the supernal worlds in some one of the three lower states of bliss, கன்னியர். கன்னிமையழித்தல்--கன்னியழித் தல், s. The crime of deflouring a virgin. 2. The guilt of suffering a virgin to be defloured. கன்னிமையழிய--கன்னியழிய, inf. To lose virginity, to be be defloured, கன்னிமைகெட. கன்னியழியாதபெண், s. A girl that has not lost her virginity. கா, A syllabic letter, the consonant க் and long vowel, ஆ, ஓரெழுத்து. 2. s. A pole with ropes attached on the shoulder, for carrying common burdens, or gifts to a temple, &c., காவடி. (c.) 3. (p.) A lever or beam for a well-sweep, also the lever of steel yards, scales, &c., துலாக்கோல். 4. A grove, சோலை. 5. A flower garden, பூந் தோட்டம். 6. A poetic expletive, அசைச்சொல். இவளிவட்காண்டிகா. See her here. (நன்னூ லுரை.) காக்காரர், s. [prop. காவுவோர்.] Bearers of palankeens, pole-burdens, &c., persons who carry burdens suspended from a pole on the shoulders. காத்தாடி--காத்தண்டு, s. A pole for carrying burdens, காவடித்தண்டு. காமரம், s. [prov.] A pole for carrying on the shoulder, the one used for heavy timber, காவடித்தண்டு. கற்பகக்கா, s. Indra's paradise. திருவானைக்கா, s. The name of a celebrated pagoda on the island of Sreerungam near Trichinopoly, lit. the grove of the holy elephant. 81)

kṟu (p. 101) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To grow black, to darken, கருமையாக. 2. (p.) To become impure, polluted, to contract moral defilement, கறைப்பட. 3. To show signs of anger, to look black, to scowl, சினக்குறிப்புக்காட்ட. 4. To be angry, கோபிக்க. கறுத்தகம்பளி, s. A black hair cloth. கருத்தசாமை, s. A dark kind of grain, See சாமை. கறுத்தவன், s. A dark of black person.

kṟai (p. 102) s. Rust, spot, stain, tarnish, blemish, மாசு. 2. Fault, defect, impurity, defilement, pollution, physical, moral or ceremonial, குற்றம். 3. Blackness, darkness, கறுப்பு. (c.) 4. (p.) Blood, இரத்தம். 5. A mortar for pounding, உரல். 6. Ebony, கருங் காலி. (பிங்.) 7. Tribute, poll-tax, குடியிறை. 8. Color, hue, tinge, நிறம். (சது.) கறைதீர்தல், v. noun. Being free from tarnish or pollution. கறைநீக்க, inf. To expel pollution or tarnish, to cleanse, purify. கறைப்பட, inf. To be spotted, stained, polluted, defiled; to contract defilement, to become impure, physically, morally, or ceremonially. கறைப்படுத்த, inf. To stain, taint, tarnish, pollute, defile, soil, blur. கறைப்பட்டமனம், s. A polluted mind. கறைப்பல், s. Discolored teeth. கறைப்பிடிக்க, inf. To become rusty, to form--as rust. 2. To be stained or soiled with rust, verdigris, &c. 3. To collect--as blood in inflammations, &c. கறைமிடற்றிறை--கறைமிடற்றோ ன், s. Siva as black-throated, from taking poison into his throat at the churning of the sea of milk, சிவன். கறையடி, s. An elephant, யானை. கறையாயிருக்க--கறைகறையாயிரு க்க, inf. To be full of spots. இரத்தக்கறை, s. A stain of blood in cloth, &c. 9)

kḷai (p. 101) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To strip or put off clothes, to reject clothes or jewels, &c., சீலைமுதலியகளைய. 2. (p.) To weed, pull up, extirpate, eradicate, களைபிடுங்க. 3. To exterminate, extirpate a family, foes, &c., to kill, destroy, கொல்ல. 4. To remove, expel, extrude, separate, reject, lop off; to shave the hair, the beard, &c., to pare the nails, &c., to cut or pull the hair, &c., to molt--as birds, அகற்ற. 5. [in arith.] To subtract, கணக்குக் கழிக்க. வன்சொற்களைந்து. Avoiding offensive speech-புடவைகளைய, inf. To cast off dirty or impure clothes. 2.
