kiẕi (p. 111) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To part, to be slit, rent in shreds, or torn; to be parted --as land by ploughing, &c., துண்டாகக்கிழிய. 2. To part asunder, to separate, இரண்டாக க்கிழிய. 3. To be defeated, to be disappointed, to meet with ill success, to come to nothing, வாயாதுகெட. காரியங்கிழிந்துபோயிற்று--கிழிகிழிந்துபோயிற்று.... The affair is come to nothing. 2. He turns out to be nothing. அவர்கிழிந்தார். He is disconcerted; i.e. can do nothing. (Abusive.) கிழிந்துபோக, inf. To be rent or torn; to go in pieces. கிழிவு, v. noun. May you perish--a form of imprecation. கெட்டாற்குற்றார்கிளையிலுமில்லை. In poverty, friends are not found even among relations. கெட்டேனே. Ah! I am lost, ruined; I an undone. கெட்டுப்போனபார்ப்பானுக்குச் செத்துப்போனப சுவைத்தானங்கொடுத்தாற்போல. As if a dead cow be presented to a ruined brahman; said of an unprofitable pursuit by an incompetent person. கெட்டும்பட்டணஞ்சேர். Though to be ruined, go to the town. தரித்திரங்கெடும்படி. That the misery of poverty may cease. ஈற்றுயிர்மெய்கெடும். The final compound letter is dropped. கெடுகுடிசொற்கேளாது. A family given up to ruin will never listen to advice. கெட்டகுடியேகெடும். A ruined family will sink more and more. கெடுகாலம், s. A time of ruin, evil, drought, &c.; also used reference to retribution of evil deeds which is to come immediately. கெடுமதி, s. Wicked devices. 2. Folly, rashness, presumption. 3. Loss, ruin, waste. கெடுமதி கண்ணுக்குத் தெரியாது. Folly is blind. கெடுவான், appel. n. He who will perish--the wretch; commonly used abusively. கெட்டதனம், s. Bad disposition; badness. 2. Indecorum, incivility. கெட்டநடத்தை, s. Immoral or vile conduct. கெட்டநிலை, s. A bad state, a woful plight. 2. A dangerous profession. 3. A dangerous way or system--as of religion. கெட்டபுத்தி, s. Perverted understanding. 2. Bad counsel, &c. கெட்டமணம், s. An offensive smell. கெட்டரூபம், s. A deformed, monstrous or horrid shape. கெட்டவியாதி, s. A bad, malignant, dangerous disease. 2. The venereal or other filthy disease. கெட்டகேடு, s. Utter ruin, uselessness, unworthiness, &c.--usually as an exclamation கெட்டுப்போனவள், s. A seduced woman, a bad woman. கெடுதலை, v. noun. Ruin, அழிவு. 2. Damage, loss, detriment, injury, நஷ்டம். 3. Disaster, calamity, இடையூறு. 4. Degeneracy, vileness, evil, இழிவு. கெடுதல், v. noun. Perishing; being ruined, spoiled, defeated, &c. 2. Damage, injury, calamity, &c. 3. [in gram.] Elision, omission. கெடுதி, s. Loss of any thing dropped, stolen, or strayed, &c., இழப்பு. 2. Loss --opposed to gain, in astrological calculations, augural divinations, &c., நஷ்டம். (See நினைத்தகாரியம்.) 3. Emergency, hazard, extremity. ஆபத்து. 4. Ruin, அழிவு. 5. Evil, disaster, கேடு. 6. (fig.) The thing lost, இழந்தபொருள். ஒருகெடுதிசொல்லவேண்டும். Please to divine for me about what I have lost. கெடு, v. noun. Ruin, destruction; decay, கேடு. 2. Expiration of a limited time, a term or limit of time, தவணை. கெடுவாகவையாதுலகம். The world will not consider it a ruin. (குற.) கெடுத்தப்பிப்போயிற்று. The time set, is passed. கெடுப்படிக்கு. According to the time agreed upon. பத்துநாட்கெடுவிலே. The female energy or active power of deity in all the operations of creating, preserving, destroying, &c., பராசத்திமுதலியன.--Note. Each form of the deity is represented as having a distinct சத்தி described as his consort. 3. A name of பார்வதி. 4. The female organ, as the counter part of the phallic emblem of Siva, ஆவிடையார். 5. The three saktis are, 1. இச்சாசத்தி. 2. ஞானாசத்தி. 3. கிரியாசத்தி, which see. To these are added சிறசத்தி, and பராசத்தி. Others add 1. திரோதானசத்தி. 2. மாயாசத்தி. 3. விந்துச்சத்தி. சத்திக்குத்தக்கதாய்ச்செய். Do according to your ability. அதெனக்குச்சத்தியாய்க்கிடைக்கும். I shall eventually get it. சத்திகுறைய, inf. To be wanting in strength. சத்திசெலுத்த, inf. To authorise. (p.) சத்திபூசை, s. The puja-worship of the வாமர் sect, performed in secret with raw flesh, ardent spirit, &c. The object of worship being the privities of a naked woman, in personification of the fecundating and operative principle of deity in nature. சத்தியுள்ளவன், s. A rich man, a man of influence. (c.) சத்தியில்லாதவன், s. An incompetent person, a weak person. (c.) சத்திவிளங்க, inf. [loc.] To become manifest as power, a miraculous power. அருட்சத்தி, s. [in சிவஞானபோதம்.] The active energy of deity which is said to enlighten the soul and to be a source of benefit to all animated beings. சிவசத்தி, s. Sakti, or active power considered in its inseparable connection with Siva. (சிவ.சி.) 2. (R.) The consort of Siva, பார்வதி. 3. Siva and his consort. திரவியசத்தி, s. Pecuniary ability. மந்திரசத்தி, s. cmāḷi (p. 163) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. [vul. also சிமாளி.] To affect cheerfulness, courage, or unconcern; to act so as not to betray shame under discreditable circumstances; to assume confidence, so as to cover incompetency and pass with credit an examination, திடங்கொள்ள. 2. To be patient under trying circumstances, to endure hardship with fortitude, தாங்க. 3. To manage a festival, support a family, &c., with economy, so as to keep up appearances with small means, விருந்துமுதலியன சரிக்கட்டிநடத்த. [from Sa. (சது.) The head of an arrow, அம்புத்தலை. 6. [prov.] Ferrule, cap, capping, பூண். விரையொன்றுபோடச்சுரையொன்றுமுளைக்குமா...... Will churai (சுரை), spring up when another seed is sown? (i. e.) the nature of children is mostly like that of their parents. சுரையோடு, s. A fragment of bottlegourd shell. (R.) சுரைக்காய், s. Unripe bottle-gourd fruit --used for curry. சுரைக்காய்க்கந்தகம், s. Brimstone in round pieces or sticks. கும்பச்சுரை, s. See கும்பம். பேய்ச்சுரை, s. A bitter gourd. கருஞ்சுரை, s. A black gourd. சுரைக்குடுக்கை, s. See குடுக்கை. சுரைக்குடுக்கைக்கின்னரம், s. A lute whose calabash is made of the bottlegourd shells--commonly used among the lute players. சுரைபோட, inf. To make a tubular clasp for the ornaments (c.) சுரைப்பழம், s. The ripe fruit of the gourd, not serviceable for food; hence. 2. cūtakam (p. 200) s. Birth, delivery, பிறப்பு. 2. (c.) Uncleanness, ceremonial impurity of a woman from catamenia, மகளீர்தொடக்கு. W. p. 94. SOOTAKA. 3. Ceremonial impurity of a person from the death of a relative, rendering him incompetent to perform certain rites; that from the father's side being greater, the mother's less, மரணசூதகம். 4. Ceremonial uncleanness in general, as of a person, house, clothes, &c., from a death, from menstruation, childbirth, miscarriage, touching a corpse or carcass; from shaving; contact of the finger, &c., with the spittle or any part of the mouth; touching one of low caste, or bathing in a tank of his village; or weeping, lamenting, &c., for a deceased acquaintance, தீட்டு. 5. Oldness, antiquity, பழமை.--Note. According to some, the causes of ceremonial impurity are five, viz.: 1. சனனாசூசம், or சாதகாசூசம், childbirth. 2. மரணாசூசம், or மிருதாசூசம், death. 3. சண்டாளநீரிற்றோய்தல், bathing in the waters used by low castes. 4. சுராபானம்பண்ணல், drinking toddy or ardent spirits. 5. பொய்கூறல், lying. The last seems but little regarded, also the fourth by many. Instead of the last three, the following are named by some; இருது சூதகம், menstruation. உச்சிட்டசூதகம், being spitten upon. சண்டாளபரிசசூதகம், contact with one of low caste. சூதகக்காரன், s. One ceremonially impure. சூதகக்காரி--சூதகஸ்திரி, s. A woman ceremonially unclean, by catamenia, or otherwise. சூதகக்கிராணி, s. A disease attending the childbirth, from wind or flatulency. சூதகங்கழிக்க, inf. To remove impurity by the prescribed means. சூதகங்காக்க, inf. To keep from society, abstain from venery, from shaving. &c., after a death, till the performance of the funeral rites. சூதகசன்னி, s. A disease of females from sexual intercourse during menstruation. See சன்னி. சூதகத்துக்குடையவர்கள், appel. n. Heirs of one deceased. சூதகமலடு, s. One of the six forms of barrenness. See மலடு. சூதகமாக, inf. To have the monthly course as a woman. (c.) சூதகமுட்டு, s. Suppression of the menses. See கருப்பசூலை under கர்ப்பம். சூதகவாயு--சூசிகாவாயு, s. Hysterics, &c.--from irregularities of the monthly course, and other complaints connected with pregnancy. (c.) 5) *

As convenient, as proper. செய்யத்தகுங்காரியம். The thing proper to be done. 2. A possible or practicable thing. தகுந்தமட்டும். As far as in one's power. தகாத, adj. Improper, unsuitable, unfit. தகாதது, appel. n. That which is unfit. தகாதவன், s. An improper, unsuitable, indecent, unfit, incompetent or despicable person. தகாமை, v. noun. (neg.) Unfitness, unsuitableness, inadequacy, impropriety, inability, unworthiness, incompetency, inexpediency, incongruity, தகு தியின்மை. தகுந்தகாதென்றறிய, inf. To know whether a thing is proper or not. தகுமானபுள்ளி--தகுமானமனிதன், s. A worthy, responsible, competent man; a man of substance or wealth. (c.) தகுந்த அவுழ்தம், s. Proper remedy. தகுந்தசெலவு, v. noun. Proper expenditure. தகுந்தபிராயம், s. Proper age. தகுமானஏது, s. A reasonable cause. தகுமானவேளை--தகுந்தவேளை, s. Due time, proper time. தகும, (third per. neuter.) tkuti (p. 220) s. Fitness, meetness, suitableness, decency, decorum, adaptation, adequacy, ஏற்றது. 2. Propriety, consistency, commendableness, உற்றது. 3. Worthiness, eligibility, தகைமை. 4. Excellence, good quality, estimableness, மேன்மை. 5. Means, capacity, influence, pecuniary ability, வல் லமை. 6. Equity justice, நேர்மை. 7. Forbearance, patience, meekness, பொறுமை. 8. Good conduct, morality, ஒழுக்கம். 9. Knowledge, learning, discretion, அறிவு. 1. Commensurableness, proportionateness, பொருத் தம்; [ex தகு v.] (c.) நம்முடையபாவங்களுக்குத்தகுதியாக. tāẕcci (p. 235) s. Meanness, baseness, vileness, கீழ்மை. 2. Inferiority, disparagement, subordination, தாழ்வு. 3. Lowliness, humbleness, submissiveness, தாழ்மை. 4. Deficiency, want, scarcity; arrears, குறைவு. 5. Deterioration, degradation, loss; decay of wealth, power, fame, &c., கேடு. 6. Dishonor, discredit, disgrace, இகழ்ச்சி. 7. That is inferior to this. ஒன்றுதாழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கிறது. There is something wanting, it is defective in one respect. தாழ்ச்சிப்பட, s.
