இயல்பு
iylpu (p. 48) s. Nature, property, quality, natural or essential quality, instinct, genius, குணம். 2. Conduct, a proper course of conduct, good character, ஒழுக்கம். 3. A prescribed rule, order, method, custom, habit, முறை. 4. State, condition, circumstances, situation, rank, class, &c.--as applicable to man, brute, vegetable, &c., தன்மை. 5. Propriety, regularity, legitimacy, genuineness, நேர்மை. 6. Simplicity, plainness, honesty, frankness, இயற்கை. இயல்பினானில்வாழ்க்கைவாழ்பவன். The householder who discharges his domestic duties with propriety. (குறள்.) இயல்பானபகை, s. What is naturally uncongenial or counteracting-as medicine to the disease. இயல்பானபகையாளி, s. A foe by nature--as the cat to birds. இயல்புதப்பிப்போக, inf. To be dishonest, to act dishonestly, live disorderly, go beyond the proper bounds. இயல்புப்புணர்ச்சி, s. கள்ளம்
kḷḷm (p. 101) s. Guile, treachery, deception, imposition, dissimulation, insidiousness, roguery, villany, knavery, turpitude, spuriousness, counterfeitness, perfidy, depravity, வஞ்சகம். 2. Stealing, robbery, fraud, embezzlement, shuffling, tricking, cheating, circumvention, intrigue, களவு. 3. Lying, falsehood, பொய். 4. Fault, crime, guilt, defect, blemish, குற்றம். 5. Morbid matter concealed in a boil, or lodged in the system and causing irritation, புண்ணினுட் கள்ளம். 6. Unlawful, illicit acts, slyness, trickishness, sinister views, under-hand way of doing things, covert, கபடம். கள்ளவெயிலுங்கள்ளமழையும். Alternate rain and sun-shine when neither can be relied on. கள்ளஒப்பம், s. A forged signature. கள்ளக்கடை, s. A shop or bazaar for the reception of stolen goods. கள்ளக்கப்பல், s. A piratical vessel, திருட்டுக்கப்பல். கள்ளக்கப்பற்காரன், s. A pirate. கள்ளக்கயிறு, s. A kind of double string for opening and closing a book or purse. கள்ளக்கவறு, s. False dice, கள்ளச் சூதாடுகருவி. கள்ளக்கவி, s. Flagrant plagiary, சோரகவி. கள்ளக்காசு--கள்ளநாணயம்--கள் ளப்பணம், s. Base or counterfeit coin, செல்லாக்காசு. கள்ளக்காய்பட, inf. To fail as fruits in the process of ripening by smoke. கள்ளக்கிடை, v. noun. Lying deceptively, shamming sickness, sleep, or death, வஞ்சனையாகப்படுத்திருக்கை. கள்ளக்குணம், s. A false, insidious, deceptive disposition, திருட்டுக்குணம். 2. Insidiousness in boils, diseases, &c., deceptiveness, changeableness in weather, wind, the sea, &c., கள்ளத்தோற்றம். 3. Tricks, vices, &c., in beasts, கபட்டுக் குணம். கள்ளக்கையெழுத்து, s. A false signature, a forgery. கள்ளச்சத்தியம், s. A false oath, perjury. கள்ளச்சரக்கு, s. A forged bond, note, draught, &c. கள்ளச்சொல், s. Lie, falsehood, பொய். 2. Pretence, pretext, திருட்டுப் பேச்சு. கள்ளஞானம், s. Hypocrisy, in religion. கள்ளஞ்செய்ய, inf. To commit fraud, to embezzle, களவுசெய்ய. கள்ளத்தனம், s. Cunning, craftiness. கள்ளத்திறவுகோல், s. A false key, a picklock. கள்ளத்தீன், s. Sweet-meat, cakes, &c., eaten by stealth instead of regular food, திருட்டுணவு. கள்ளத்துறை, s. Ports where exports and imports are prohibited, ஆயத் துறைக்குமாறாயதுறை. கள்ளத்தோணி, s. A kind of dhoney, sailing to different places from Point Calimere, &c.; this species of boat is so called because formerly employed in robbing the pearl banks. கள்ளநடத்தை, s. Illicit intercourse of the sexes. கள்ளநீர், s. Morbid humor in the body preventing the healing of ulcers, &c., புண்ணில்வடியுநீர். கள்ளநேரம், s. Irregular seasons for doing things, seasons for illicit acts when detection may not occur. 2. A little before daylight, தூங்குநேரம். கள்ளப்பசி, s. Deceptive feelings of hunger. கள்ளப்பாடம், s. Lessons omitted, slipped over, &c., being unlearnt, deceiving the master. கள்ளப்பார்வை, v. noun. Thievish, designing looks. 2. Sly looks of lovers, or libidinous persons, அன்பினானோக்குநோக் கம். கள்ளப்பிள்ளை, s. An illegitimate child, a bastard, சோரத்திற்பெற்றபிள்ளை. கள்ளப்புணர்ச்சி, s. Illicit intercourse of the sexes. கள்ளப்புத்தி, s. Deceitful sagacity, cunning. கள்ளப்புருஷன், s. A paramour, a gallant, சோரநாயகன். கள்ளப்பெண்சாதி--கள்ளஸ்திரி, s. A concubine. கள்ளப்பேச்சு, s. Insincere expressions, false assurances. கள்ளமயிர், s. False hair. கள்ளமயிர்த்தொப்பி, s. A wig. கள்ளமனம், s. Deceitful mind. கள்ளமாடு, s. Cattle that intrude and graze by stealth, a cow or bullock prone to stray, or to be mischievous, திரு ட்டுமாடு. 2. An ox that refuses to work, கரவுள்ளமாடு. 3. Stolen cattle, திருடினமாடு. கள்ளமார்க்கம், s. False religion. 2. A sally port. கள்ளமுத்திரை, s. A false stamp, திருட்டுமுத்திரை. கள்ளம்பண்ண, inf. To be idle in work, to be dull, slow, &c.--as a beast in the absence of the whip. 2. To play truant. 3. To work deceptively, to use alloy, cheat, act the rogue, dissemble, sham, pretend. கள்ளவறை, s. A concealed room which no one would suspect, பிறர்காணக் கூடாதஅறை. கள்ளவாசாரம், s. Mock modesty, feigned politeness, திருட்டாசாரம். கள்ளவாயில், s. A trap-door, கள் ளவழி. கள்ளவொழுக்கம், s. Hypocrisy, dissimulation, திருட்டுநடத்தை. கள்ளன், s. (plu. கள்ளர், fem. கள் ளி.) Thief, robber, rogue, vagabond, villain, knave, criminal, felon, depredator, திருடன். 2. One of the Kallar tribe, கள்ளச்சாதியான். கள்ளர்பற்று, s. The district of the Kallars. வேசிக்கள்ளர், s. Whore-mongers. ஆசாரக்கள்ளர், s. Persons insincere, incomplaisant. 2. Hypocrites in religion. திருநீறுகுழைக்குங்கள்ளர். Those who put on appearances of piety. கும்பிடுகள்ளர்--தொழுகள்ளர், s. Hypocrites, those insincere in religion, or in courtesy. அழுகள்ளர், s. Weeping rogues, dissimulators, impostors. மாசாலக்கள்ளி, s. A dissimulating, unfaithful woman. 9)

kāṉīṉaṉ (p. 107) s. An illegitimate son born during the mother's pretended maidenhood, கன்னிபெற்றபிள்ளை; hence Karna the prince, son of Surya by Kunti before her marriage with Pandu, கன்னன். 2. குலம்
kulam (p. 127) s. [in poet. குலன்.] Tribe, family, lineage, race; caste, nation, people, சாதி. 2. Herd, flock, shoal, assemblage, collection, கூட்டம். 3. Kind, class, species, sort, genus, இனம். 4. House, abode, மனை. 5. Royal palace, அரமனை. Wils. p. 233. KULA. 6. Family, rank, respectability or eminence of descent, உயர்குலம். 7. (Rott.) An inhabited country, குடி. 8. (பிங்.) The twentyseventh lunar asterism, or nacshatra; also, the time the moon accupies in traversing the nacshatra, இரேவதி. குரங்கானாலுங்குலத்திலெடு. Though an ape, let a wife be from one's own family. குலங்குப்பையிலே பணம்பந்தியிலே. Rank or caste is on the dung-hill, while wealth sits in state; i. e. the wealthy are honored. கோடாலிக்காம்பு குலத்துக்கீனம். The axehandle brings ruin to its race (by assisting to cut down trees)--spoken of a person who brings disgrace and ruin to his family. குலகன்மம், s. Customs attaching to a family, through successive generations, குலாசாரம். Wils. p. 233. KULAKARMMA. குலகாயம், s. The rules or regulations of caste, குலவொழுக்கம். இதுனக்குக்குலகாயமாயிருக்கிறது. This is the custom of your family or tribe. குலகூடஸ்தன், s. The first ancestor of a race or lineage. குலக்கொடி--குலஸ்திரீ--குலபத்தினி --குலாங்கனை, s. The lawful wife. 2. A woman reputed for chastity. 3. A woman of good family and caste, and of repute for chastity. குலக்கொழுந்து, s. A rare son, the sprout or hope of the family. குலவிளக்கு, s. A light to the family or caste-spoken of a chaste matron. குலங்கெட்டவன், s. One who has lost his caste; an object, low-caste fellow. குலசிரேட்டன்--குலஸ்தன்--குலத்தன்-குலமான், s. One born of a good family. குலட்சயம், s. The ruin or decay of a family or tribe. wills. p. 233. KULAKSHAYA. குலதருமம், s. The customs, duties, offices, &c., peculiar to, or proper for, a caste, &c. Wils. 233. KULAD'HARMMA. குலதிலகம்--குலதிலதம், s. One who is an honor to his family; the respectable head of a family. 2. Very pure lineage; eminence of caste. Wils. p. 233. KULATILAKA. குலதம்பிரான்--குலகுரு, s. A family guru, the guru of a race or tribe. குலதெய்வம், s. The family, tutelary deity. 2. The deity of the tribe. குலத்துக்குத்தக்ககுணம், s. Disposition, habits, or propensities peculiar to a caste. குலத்துக்குத்தக்கநடை, s. Behaviour suitable to one's caste. குலந்தெரிக்க, inf. To dwell on another's parentage--commonly in ridicule. குலபதி, s. The head of a caste or tribe. Wils. p. 233. KULAPATI. குலப்பகை, s. Natural antagonism between different species--as between cats and dogs. 2. In-bred malice, hatred, &c., between tribes, perpetuated from generation to generation. குலப்பழி, s. Offence or malice, perpetuated from generation to generation. குலப்பழுது--குலவடு, s. Stigma on a family. 2. Meanness of caste. குலப்பரத்தை, s. A courtezan by birth, or ancestry. 2. A courtezan, not common but kept by one man; a kept mistress. குலமகள்--குலப்பெண், s. THe lawful wife. 2. A woman of good caste, reputed for chastity. குலமக்கட்கழகுதன்கொழுநனைப்பேணுதல். It is becoming in a lawful and virtuous wife to cherish and honor her husband. குலமகன், s. A man of respectable caste. 2. A legitimate son. குலமங்குதல், v. noun. Being reduced in respectability, circumstances, &c. குலமணி, s. A genuine gem; (fig.) one of an illustrious birth. குலமிலான்--குலவீனன், s. A man of low caste. குலமுறைகிளத்த--குலஞ்செப்ப, inf. To give the genealogy of a family. குலங்கூற--குலம்பேச, inf. To twit one of low parentage. 2. To boast or talk of one's own or another's high birth. குலம்புகுந்தவன், s. One who has mingled with persons of a strange caste, a term of reproach. குலம்பெயர, inf. [prov.] To be changed for the better or worse--as a tree by transplanting; to improve or degenerate. குலவித்தை, s. The arts, duties, or employments peculiar to a family or caste. குலவிருது, s. The standard or banner peculiar to a family. 2. A peculiarity or propensity in an individual, common to his family. குலாசாரம், s. The custom, usage, duties, rites, &c., of a caste or tribe. Wils. p. 234. KULACHARA. குலாசாரங்காட்டுகிறான். He betrays his family or caste propensities. குலாசாரியன், s. The family priest-as குலகுரு. Wils. p. 234. KULACHARYYA. குலாதிக்கன், s. One of high caste or family, குலசிரேட்டன். குலாபிமானம், s. Family pride, pride of birth. 2. Respectability of caste, family, &c., சாதிமானம். Wils. p. 234. KULAB'HIMANA. குலிஞன்--குலிஞ்சன், s. A person of a high family, of honorable descent, &c., குலமுள்ளோன். குலீனன், s. One of a high family, &c. Wils. p. 234. KULEENA. குலோத்துங்கன், s. The respectable chief of a family. 2. The name of an illustrious prince of the Chola dynasty. குலடன், s. An adopted son, a foster child, சுவீகாரபுத்திரன். Wils. p. 233. KULAT'A. குலகிரி--குலபர்வதம்--குலாசலம், s. The eight mountains in Jambu Dwipa, (See கிரி.) 2. Seven mountain which are supposed to be in each of the seven Dwipas. 3. The circular mountains which are fancied to surround the annular seas respectively, together with the one which sorrounds the Pushkara Dwipa. (காந்.) நற்குலம், s. A good caste or tribe. 2. An excellent kind. இதுநற்குலதீவிதிராட்சச்செடி. This is a very choice vine. இவன்நற்குலத்தான்--நற்குலத்தோன். He is a man of a high caste, or family. 20)

Stolen property, or wealth obtained by unfair means. சோரன்திரி, s. An unfaithful wife. சோரநாசம், s. (Almanac usage.) Destruction of thieves. சோரபயம்--சோரபஞ்சகம், s. Dread of thieves; danger of thieves, ascertained by astrological calculations showing it unsafe to set out on a journey at the given hour, கள்ளரைப்பற்றியசோசியம். சோரபுத்திரன், s. An illegitimate son. சோரப்பார்வை, s. Libidinous glance. சோரமள்ள, inf. [prov.] To take away by stealth, from a heap of grain, &c. சோரமார்க்கம், s. Unlawful conduct of a wife. (c.) சோரமார்க்கமாய்த்திரிய, inf. To be habitually lewd. சோரம்பண்ண--சோரமிட, inf. To abstract property by stealth. 2. To be unfaithful, as a goldsmith, who exchanges gold for inferior metal; to make counterfeit work. (c.) சோரம்போக, inf. To be abstracted, as property, by stealth. 2. துர்
tur (p. 249) s. A prefix used in combination signifying evil, ill, bad, deficient; it is often changed to ற், before the hard letters, to ன் before the soft, as துன்மார்க்கம். Before இடையினம், there is no change. Sometimes ர் is dropped and the relative letter takes its place--as துச்சரிதம், ஒருபசர்க் கை. (See துஷ்.) W. p. 414. DUR. துரதிஷ்டம், s. Ill luck. (c.) துராசாரம், s. Wickedness, depravity, perversity, a vicious life, தீயொழுக்கம். 2. Indecorum, indecency, immodesty, அவ மரியாதை. துராசாரன்--துராசாரி, s. One who violates the rules of his religion, caste. country, &c., a vicious person of vile character. துராசை, s. Evil desires, lust, covetousness, &c. துராத்துமா, s. An evil person, a retch, rescal, scoundrel, villain, தீயன். துராலோசனை, s. Bad counsel, prejudicial or evil advice. துரிச்சை, s. Evil desire. See இச்சை. துர்க்கதி, s. A wicked life, bad course, கெட்டநடை. 2. (also துர்கதி.) Hell, நரகம். துர்க்கந்தம், s. (also துற்கந்தம்.) Offensive smell, stink, கெட்டநாற்றம். துர்க்கருமம்-துர்க்கன்மம்-துஷ்கருமம், s. Evil actions either in performance, or as accumulated and attaching to the soul. துர்க்கன்மபரிபாகம்--துஷ்கன்மபரிபா கம், s. Ripening or exhaustion of the evil actions of former births. துர்க்கீர்த்தி, s. Ill fame, infamy. துர்க்குணம், s. (also துற்குணம்.) Bad disposition, ill humor, a vicious course, தீக்குணம். துர்க்குணன், s. A vicious, wicked man, தீயன். துர்க்குறி, s. Evil omen, bad sign, unfavorable symptom, ominous gesture. துர்ச்சரிதம், s. (more properly, துச்சரி தம்.) Evil practice, evil courses. துர்ச்சனம், s. Badness, viciousness, maliciousness, mischief, வன்மம். 2. Lewdness, lasciviousness, wantonness, மோக லீலை. 3. Insubordination, refractoriness, rebellion of a youth or dependant, &c., செருக்கு. துர்ச்சனநடத்தை--துர்ச்சனவியோகம், s. Vicious conduct, a vicious course. துர்ச்சனன், s. A petulant or insolent man. துர்ச்சனனைக்கண்டால்தூரவிலகு...... Abstain from an insolent person. துர்ச்செய்கை, s. Evil action. துர்ச்சொப்பனம், s. (also துச்சொப்ப னம்.] A bad or ominous dream. துர்த்தேவதை, s. A malignant demon. துர்ப்பலம், s. Weakness, feebleness, thinness, emaciation, பலவீனம். 2. (fig.) The state of being reduced in circumstances, சிறுமை. முன்னமேதுர்ப்பலைஅதிலுங்கர்ப்பிணி. Before weak, and now also pregnant; or poor, and under a heavy fine. துர்ப்பலன், s. Ill result as predicted in astrology. அமங்கலப்பயன். 2. Bad fruit, ill consequence. துர்ப்பாக்கியம்--தௌர்ப்பாக்கியம், s. Evil, calamity, ill-luck, misery, நிர்ப்பாக் கியம். துர்ப்பிட்சம்--துர்ப்பிக்ஷம், s. Famine, பஞ்சம். See பிட்சம். துர்ப்பீசம், s. An illegitimate child, வம்புப்பிள்ளை. See பீசம். துர்ப்புத்தி, s. Folly, presumption, foolhardiness infatuation, wickedness, evil propensity; கெடுமதி. 2. Ill-advice, bad counsel, துராலோசனை. துர்ப்போதனை, s. Bad instruction, illadvice, கெட்டஉபதேசம். துர்மனம், s. An evil mind. துர்மார்க்கம், s. com. துன்மார்க்கம்.) An evil life. துர்மாமிசம், s. (also துன்மாமிசம்.) Proud flesh in a wound, &c. 6) *

pattiṉi (p. 294) s. A chaste and faithful wife, கற்புள்ளமனைவி. W. p. 498. PATNEE. (c.) 2. A wife especially of a Rishi, இருஷிபத்தினி. தான்மாத்திரம்பத்தினியாயிருந்தால்தாசித்தெருவிலுங் குடியிருக்கலாம். If a woman be chaste she may live even in a street of harlots. பத்தினித்தனம், s. Chastity, fidelity, &c., of a married woman. பத்தினிப்பிள்ளை, s. A legitimate child. 80)
