kẕuttu (p. 98) s. The neck of a person, brute, thing, &c., கண்டம். கழுத்தடி, s. The lower part of the nape of the neck, தோண்மேல். கழுத்தறுக்க, inf. To cut the throat, to server the wind-pipe. முன்விட்டுப்பின்னின்றுகழுத்தறுக்கலாமோ...... Would you bid one take precedence and then cut his throat? ஒருவன்கழுத்திலேகட்டிவிட. To devolve unpleasant consequences on another. 2. To attribute a crime or blame to a person. 3. To impose on another unsaleable goods, or a woman ineligible for marriage. கழுத்திடுகயிறு, s. Halter for a beast. கழுத்திருத்த, inf. To have the neck pressed down with a heavy load. (c.) கழுத்திலேகயிறுபோட, inf. To threaten self-immolation for the purpose of recovering debts, &c. 2. To be very treacherous, insidious, perfidious. (c.). கழுத்துக்குட்டை, s. A neckcloth, a cravat. (c.) கழுத்துக்கொடுக்க, inf. To lay down the neck for another on the block, to subject one's self to inconvenience or danger. 2. To expose one's life by a commission of crime. 3. To submit to the yoke as bullocks. கழுத்துச்சந்து, s. The joint of the neck. கழுத்துச்சுளுக்கு, s. Straining of the ligaments of the neck by violent turning of the head. கழுத்துத்திருக, inf. To wring off the head of a fowl, &c. 2. To throttle, twist the head. கழுத்துநெடியபானை, s. A longnecked pot. கழுத்துப்பட்டிகை, s. A collar, a cape. கழுத்துப்பட்டை, s. The collar of a cloak. கழுத்துப்பருத்திருக்க, inf. To have a thick neck. கழுத்துப்பொருத்தம், s. One of the ten பொருத்தம் for marriage, மணப்பொருத்தம் பத்திலோன்று. (c.) கழுத்துமுறிக்க--கழுத்தைமுறிக்க, inf. To break the neck--spoken of the power, &c., of demons. வேண்டாமென்றுகழுத்தைமுறிக்கிறான். He absolutely refuses, it is very repugnant to his feelings, &c. கழுத்துவெட்டி, s. A cut-throat, a betrayer, an assassin. (c.) கழுத்தூட்டி, s. The throat. (p.) கழுத்தேறுதண்டம், s. Aggravated or very heavy punishment. கழுத்தைநெரிக்க, inf. To throttle one. கட்டுக்கழுத்தி, s. A married woman. 81)

cuḷukku (p. 198) கிறது, சுளுக்கினது, ம், சுளுக்க, v. n. To be sprained or strained, as a joint, to be displaced, deranged, &c, as a ligament, கை கால் முதலியன சுளுக்க. (c.) நரம்புசுளுக்கிக்கொண்டது.....The tendon is strained. சுளுக்கு, v. noun. A sprain, straining the ligaments of a joint, luxation. சுளுக்குப்பார்க்க, inf. [prov.] To use enchantment for curing a sprain. சுளுக்குமந்திரம், s. A mantra for a sprain. சுளுக்குருவ--சுளுக்குவழிக்க, inf. To rub a sprained limb with oil, ashes, leaves, &c., using incantation. சுளுக்குவழிக்கிறவன்--சுளுக்கெடுக்கிற வன், appel. n. One who cures sprains. சுளுக்கெடுக்க, inf. To remove a sprain by using incantations. சுளுக்கேற, inf. To be strained. சுளுக்கேற்றிவிட, inf. To make a sprain worse. சுளுக்கிக்கொள்ள, inf. To be strained in the hips, &c. 77)

nrmpu (p. 270) s. Vein, artery, any blood vessel, any duct of the body, இரத்தநரம்பு. 2. A cat-gut-string of a musical instrument, as of a guitar, fiddle, &c., தந்தி. 3. Tendon, ligament, muscle, nerve, தசைநார். 4. Fibre in some fruits, also between the husk and shell of a cocoanut, நார். 5. Fibre, filament of leaves, tendril of a vine, &c., இலைநரம்பு. 6. String of a bow or of a similar machine used to beat cotton for carding it, வீன்னாண்முதலியன. 7. Continuation of the stem through the jack-fruit, custard-apple, &c., பழத்தினுள்நரம்பு. (c.) 8. (R.) A stringed instrument, யாழ்முதலியன. நரப்புக்கருவியாளர்--நரப்புக்கருவியை க்கொளுத்துமாக்கள், s. [plu.] Fiddlers, players on stringed instruments, lutists. நரம்பன், s. [fem. நரம்பி.] An emaciated person whose veins stand out, நரம் பெழுமுடம்பன். 2. A thin, meagre person, மெலிந்தோன். (c.) 3. [prov.] Tobacco leaf in which the fibres are prominent, ஓர்வகைப்புகையிலை. நரம்பினாதம்--நரம்பினோசை, s. The sound of the string of a musical instrument. நரம்புக்கயிறு, s. Cords sewed into the seams of a sail-cloth. 2. As நரம்பு. 2. நரம்புக்காய், s. A long thin fruit, as that of the முருங்கை. நரம்புச்சிலந்தி, s. [sometimes நரம்புச் சிலந்தி.] A long slender worm between the skin and muscles, guinea worm, ஓர்புண். (c.) 2. Boil on a nerve. நரம்புச்சுளுக்கு, s. Contraction of a ligament, or muscle. See சுளுக்கு. நரம்புப்பற்ற, inf. To become meagre, emaciated. நரம்புப்பிடிப்பு, v. noun. Cramp, spasm, convulsion, contraction of a muscle. நரம்புப்புடைத்தல், v. noun. Swelling of the veins, becoming prominent as the veins from straining or over-fulness as in singing, &c., or of a pregnant woman. நரம்புமுடக்கம், s. Contraction of the nerves. நரம்புவாங்க--நரம்பெடுக்க, inf. To take off the fibres from leaves, fruits. &c. 2. To cut the tendons of the feet; used in anger. 3. To oppress one. 4. nāṭi (p. 273) s. W. p. 46. NADI. Pulse especially at the wrist, sometimes at the foot, தாது. 2. An Indian hour of twentyfour minutes, நாழிகை. (c.) 3. An artery, a vein, tendon, sinew, muscle, nerve, ligament, நரம்பு. 4. String of a guitar, யாழ் நரம்பு. 5. Any thing tubular, tube, pipe, tupularity, உட்டுளை. 6. Nose, மூக்கு. 7. A man's lock of hair, ஆண்மயிர். (சது.) 8. The hollow stalk of the lotus, தாமரைத்தாள்.-There are three varieties of pluse; 1. வாத நாடி, indicating acid humors, hypochondria, &c., and felt by the fore-finger. 2. பித்தநாடி, indicating billous humors, felt by the second finger. 3. சிலேட்டுமநாடி, indicating phlegmatic humors, felt by the third finger,--Note. In healthy persons, cach நாடி is supposed to be prevalent for ten நாழிகை, or four hours of the day and night alike, beginning from sunrise and from sunset; any derangement of these is regarded as indicative of disease. தசநாடி, s. The ten nerves are: 1. சுழிமுனை, passing through the six ஆதாரம்; 2. இடை. beginning from the great toe of the right foot and passing up to the left nostril; 3. பிங்கலை, beginning from the great toe of the left foot, and passing up to the right nostril, crossing each other in five different places; 4. காந்தாரி, beginning at the navel and passing to the neck, where they assume a seven-fold form, being the sources of the seven musical tones of the human voice; 5. அத்தி; 6. சிகுவை, situated in the region of the eyes forming ten branches, as optical nerves; 7. அலம் புடை. 8. புருடன், in the region of the ears forming 12 branches or auditory nerves; 9. குரு, beginning at the navel and reaching to the verenda; 1. சங்கி னி, situated in the verenda,--Note. There are said to be 72, pulses in the body. அவன் ஓடிப்பாடி நாடியிலடங்கினான். His power, and bustle, have come to an end said of an extravagant person reduce to poverty. நாடிக்குறி, s. Indication of the pulse. நாடிதாரணை, s. The system of nerves and arteries with their ramifications. நாடிநிலை, s. State of the pulse. நாடிபார்க்க, inf. To feel the pulse. See தாதுபார்க்க. நாடிபரீட்சை, s. Acquainted with the pulse. நாடியறிய, inf. To be acquainted with the system of pulsation in its threefold variety. நாடியெழும்புதல், v. noun. Rising of the pulse. நாடியொடுக்கம்--நாடிவிழுந்துபோதல், v. noun. Sinking of the pulse. நாடியோட்டம், v. noun. The beating of the pulse, pulsation. 2. The state of the pulse. நாடிவிதி, s.
