uṟuppu (p. 68) s. A limb, or member of the body, parts, features, அவயவம். 2. Body, உடல். 3. Part (of a whole) component part, member, subdivision, department, section, பங்கு. 4. Just proportion, symmetry, அங்கலட்சணம். 5. Abundance, மிகுதி. 6. Bough, மரக்கொம்பு. 7. Closeness, narrowness, நெருக்கம். 8. A copy of single letters set for a child to imitate, மேல்வரிச்ச ட்டம். 9. Title deed, registry, &c. of land, காணியாட்சிப்பத்திரம். அந்தக்காணிக்கோருறுப்புமில்லை. There is no security, title, &c. for that land. உறுப்படக்கி, s. A tortoise, a turtle --from the contraction of its limbs, ஆமை; [ex உறுப்பு, et அடக்கி, from அடங்கு contraction.] உறுப்பணங்கெட்டவன். [prop. உ றுப்பினங்கெட்டவன்.] An ill-shaped, maimed, ugly person. 2. (Rott.) உறுப்பினங் கெட்டவன், A foolish, a witless fellow. உறுப்பற்றவன்--உறுப்புக்குறைந்த வன். An ill-formed, or deformed person, அவயவவீனன். 2. An ill-bred person. ஒழுக்கமில்லான். உறுப்பில்பிண்டம், s. The embryo. See எச்சம. உறுப்புக்குறைவிசேடம், s. [in rhetoric.] A species of the figure called விசேடம். உறுப்புத்தோல், s. A species of deer-skin which, according to the shasters, the Brahman should fasten to his sacred cord, நூலிற்கட்டியமான்றோல். உறுப்புநலனழிதல், v. noun. Decaying or withering--as the beauty of a female, on account of the absence of her lover, அங்கத்தழகுகெடுதல். உறுப்புமயக்கம், s. A prodigy, a monster, one whose limbs are redundant, defective, &c. See எச்சம். உறுப்புள்ளவன், s. A vigorous, well-formed man, அங்கலட்சணமுடையவன். 2. A man of enterprising character, qualified for business, திறமையுடையான். 3. A man of good conduct, அறத்துறுப்புடை யான். 4. A man of good manners, ஒழுக்கமுள்ளவன். காணிக்குறுப்புப்பண்ண, inf. To get a title deed passed for land. அகத்துறுப்பு, s. The constituent parts of virtue; they are eight in number. 1. ஐயப்படாமை, Freedom from doubt and uncertainty. 2. விருப்பின்மை, Liberation from the desires of the senses. 3. வெ றுப்பின்மை, Freedom from antipathy, prejudice, &c. 4. Exemption from illusion, confusion of mind, error, ignorance, &c. 5. பழியைநீக்கல், Freedom from evils. 6. அழி ந்தோரைநிறுத்தல், Restoring the ruined or apostate. 7. அறம்விளக்கல், Expounding or elucidating the nature of virtue. 8. பேரன்புடைமை, Great kindness, or benevolence to all sentient creatures. நூலுறுப்பு, s. One of the members or component parts of a treatise. மதிலுறுப்பு, s. The component parts of a fortification. திருவுறுப்பு, s. A jewel worn by bridegrooms upon their foreheads--a sign of the goddess இலக்குமி. செய்யுளுறுப்பு, s. The constituent parts or elements of poetry, as given in காரிகை, they are six, viz.: 1. எழுத்து, Letters forming thirteen classes. 2. அசை, Metrical syllables of two kinds. 3. சீர், Metrical feet of thirty kinds. (See. சீர்.) 4. தளை, Combination of feet one with another, of seven kinds. 5. அடி, Metrical lines determined by the number of feet of which they are composed, five kinds are given. 6. தொடை, Rhyme, forty-three species are enumerated. சீட்டினுறுப்பு, s. The style or different parts of a writ, or deed, &c. 5)

ūṉam (p. 72) s. Defect, want, deficiency --as of a member, &c.; a maim, privation, குறைபாடு. Wils. p. 165. UNA. 2. Disgrace, degradation, meanness, vileness, ஈனம். 3. (p.) Moral evil, தீமை. ஊனமிலாவுறுப்பு. A form without defect, (அறநெறித்.) ஊனமிலான்மானமிலான். (Dharma) who is alike unconscious of disgrace and of honor. -- (பார.) ஊனவெம்பவம். Vile, horrid transmigration. (சத. 64.) காலூனப்பட்டவன். One who has lost a leg, or who is defective in his legs. கையூனம், s. Privation of a hand. ஊனக்கண், s. The defective eye of the body, in contradistinction to the all-seeing eye of the Deity, or the spiritual eye of the sage, நேத்திரம். 2. Defective sight, குருட்டுவிழி. ஊனன், s. One defective in some member, குறைவுள்ளோன். 9)

ūṟu (p. 71) s. Touch, feeling, sensation, தீண்டுகை. 2. Misfortune, obstacle, disaster, mishap, இடையூறு. 3. A scar, a wound, a maim, a hurt, or injury inflicted by violence, காயம். 4. Killing, murder, கொலை. 5. Evil, mischief, blight, தீமை; [ex உறு.] (p.) --Note. There are eight kinds of ஊறு or sensations given, viz.: 1. வெம்மை, heat. 2. தண்மை, cold. 3. மேன்மை, Softness, thinness, fineness. 4. வன்மை, hardness. 5. நொய்மை, slenderness, tenuity. 6. சீர்மை. smoothness. 7. இழுமெனல், slipperiness, 8. சருச்சரை, roughness, unevenness. ஊறுகாட்டினர்க்கு. To those who inflict wounds, &c. ஊறுகொள்ள, inf. To receive a hurt, suffer violence, காயங்கொள்ள. (இ ராமா.) ஊறுகோள், s. Injury, violence, wounds inflicted, காயம். 2. Murder, கொ லை. (p.) ஊறுபாடு, s. Wounds, scars, காயம். 2. Injury, damage, violence, தீமை. 3. The four ways of inflicting injury, viz.: எறிதல், குத்தல், வெட்டல் and எய்தல். ஊறுவைக்க, inf. To cause a mark, or scar--as with the nails, teeth, &c.; to wound. 9)

kuttu (p. 121) கிறேன், குத்தினேன், வேன், குத்த, v. a. To punc ure, prick, penetrate; to bore, perforate, ஊசிமுதலியவற்றாற்குத்த. 2. To stab, to thrust, to pierce, ஈட்டிமுதலியவற் றாற்குத்த. 3. To pound in a mortar, to comminute, உலக்கையாற்குத்த. 4. To crack, to crush, smash, நெரிக்க. 5. To strike with the fist; to cuff, buffet, box, கையினாற்குத்த. 6. To efface a writing by dotting it with a style, &c., கிறுக்கிக்குத்த. 7. To drop; to pour out a small quantity, எண்ணெய்முதலிய குத்த. 8. to gore, கொம்பினால்முட்ட. 9. To pick or strike--as a stork, a crow, &c., பறவைகுத்த. 1. To mark by pricking, dotting, &c.; to dot, to point, புள்ளிகுத்த. 11. To stamp, to impress. முத்திரைமுதலியகுத்த. 12. To dig, dig up, dig out. கிண்ட. 13. (See the verb குறு.) To pluck, பறிக்க. 14. To ram down--as in a gun, துப்பாக்கியைக்கெட்டிக்க. 15. To bury in the ground--as certain seeds, விதையூன்ற. 16. To plant, set, place, நட, நிறுத்த, வைக்க. 17. To use sarcastic allusions, to employ invectives, சுடுவார்த்தை பேச. 18. To thwart, to defeat--as a design; to oppose--as a measure or scheme, தடங்கற்செய்ய. 19. [vul.] To coagulate milk, பிரைகுத்த. 2. v. n. To throb, to ache, வயிறு முதலியகுத்த. குத்தாமற்குத்திப்போட்டான். He has indirectly made a sarcastic allusion to me. அவன்கையைக்கொண்டே யவன் கண்ணிற் குத்தி னான், He has taken hold of his neighbor's hand, and thrust it into his eyes; i. e. he has employed his neighbor's means to injure him. குத்தித்தைக்க, inf. To sew through and through. குத்துக்கோல், s. A horse or ox goad. தாற்றுக்கோல். 2. A pike-staff, முட்கோல். குத்துமுள், s. A spur, குதிரைமுள். குத்துவாள். s. A dirk, a hand-dart or bayonet, உடைவாள். குத்தீட்டி, s. A poniard. குத்துவல்லையம், s. A hand-javelin--opposed to எறிவல்லையம். குத்தூசி, s. A kind of wooden needle, for roofing or hedging. அம்மைகுத்த, inf. To vaccinate. பச்சைகுத்த, inf. To tattoo; lit. to puncture and insert a blue dye. பல்லுக்குத்த, inf. To pick the teeth. மூக்குக்குத்த, inf. To perforate the nose. குத்திக்கொல்வோன், s. One who kills another by stabbing, an assassin. குத்துக்கொம்பு, s. [prov.] Perpendicular horns. குத்துக்கரணம், s. A somerset. நிலைகுத்த, inf. To be set in or fixed --as the eyes of one just breathing his last. சாந்துகுத்த, inf. To pound chunam or mortar. நெல்லுக்குத்த, inf. To pound paddy. பேன்குத்த, inf. To crack or crash lice. குரும்பைகுத்த, inf. [prov.] To pluck young cocoanuts, &c. அள்ளிக்குத்த, inf. [prov.] To give liquid food stintingly. 2. To drop a little water on plants, &c. குத்துவலி--குத்துக்குடைச்சல், v. noun. Throbbing or pinching pain, stitches. குத்திப்பேச, inf. To make a cutting remark. குத்தியள்ள, inf. To take up grain, &c., by thrusting the hands in perpendicularly. குத்தல், v. noun. Puncturing, pricking --as one of the eight kinds of impressions perceived by the sense of feeling. 2. Ramming; thrusting, stabbing, &c. குத்தார்க்கு, s. [local.] Withe, cord, &c., inserted in the hole of a குத்தூசி needle. குத்து, v. noun. Pounding in a mortar, உரலிற்குத்துகை. 2. A blow with the fist, a cuff, a buffet, a box, கைக்குத்து. 3. A thrust, a stab; a puncture, a prick, an incision, a goading, ஈட்டிமுதலியவற்றாற்கு த்துகை. 4. The peck of a stork, மூக்கினாற்கு த்துகை. 5. An acute, throbbing, twinging pain, ஓர்நோய். 6. A dot, a point, a tittle; a spot--commonly with a pointed instrument, புள்ளி. 7. A double handful of grain, &c., the hands being thrust in perpendicularly. 8. [prov.] A handful, ஓர் கையளவு. 9. Perpendicularity, steepness--as in செங்குத்து. குத்துண்டுபோவாய்--குத்துண்பாய். May you be stabbed--an imprecation. ஒருகுத்துச்சோறு. A double handful of boiled rice, with the hands thrust in perpendicularly. குத்துமி, s. Husk--as separated from rice by pounding. குத்துவெட்டு, s. Stabbing and maiming. --either in scuffles, robbery or war. 2. Dots and strokes--as erasures, பிழைபட் டதைக்கிறுக்கித்தள்ளல். குத்துப்பாடு, v. noun. Censuring or charging one with a fault; violent contention; lit. piercing, retortion. அந்தவேலைமேற்குத்துப்பாடுசொல்லுகிறான். He finds fault with the work. குத்துக்காயம், s. A wound by a stab; a stab. அடப்புக்குத்து, s. [prov.] Stabbing in the ribs, விலாக்குத்து. தலைக்குத்து--மண்டைக்குத்து, s. Piercing pain in the head; head-ache. முலைக்குத்து, s. Piercing pain in the breast. முலைக்குத்தைஅறியுமாசவலைப்பிள்ளை. Does the babe know the mother's breast-ache? குத்துண்ண, inf. To be beaten, pierced, stabbed, &c. குத்துப்பட. குத்துணி, s. One stabbed, குத்துண்ட வன். 2. A mean, vagabond, shameless fellow. குத்துப்பட்டுவிழ, inf. To fall, or drop down pierced. குத்துக்குநிற்க, inf. To stand on points, each urging his own reasons; to contend, to oppose-as rivals. 2. To haggle in dealing. குத்துகால்-குத்துக்கால், s. The uprights of a frame-as of a car; a piece of furniture, support, தாங்குகால். குத்துக்காலிட, inf. To sit or lie with bent legs; [ex குந்து.] குத்துக்கால்நாட்ட, inf. To fix or plant the uprights. குத்தாய்நிற்கிறமலை, s. A mountain standing perpendicularly. குத்துவிளக்கு, s. Standing lamp, a brass candlestick. குத்துக்கல்-குத்்தாங்கல், s. A perpendicular stone. குத்துக்கல்லாய்வைக்க, inf. To build with bricks set upon the edge. குத்துக்குளம்பு, s. The hoof of oxen, horse, &c., falling perpendicularly, not spreading-regarded as a good species for speed. குத்துப்பாறை, s. Small, perpendicular heaps of stones in the vicinity of a rock. 2. [local.] The horizontal part of a rock where women pound paddy. குத்துப்போர், s. The first layer of sheaves of corn in a stack, placed with the ears uppermost, நிறுத்திட்டமாய் வைக்குஞ் சூடு. 2. Boxing, fisticuffs, மற்போர். குத்துப்புள், s. [prov.] The place where the புள் stick falls perpendicularly in the கிட்டிபுள்ளு game. குத்தெனவீழ, inf. [prov.] To fall headlong, தலைகீழாய்விழ. 2. To fall in a perpendicular position, நிறுதிட்டமாய்விழ. செங்குத்தானமலை, s. A perpendicular hill; a precipice. மூங்கிற்குத்து, s. A cluster of bamboos, consisting of some parent stems and saplings. குத்துச்செடி, s. Any low shrub. குத்துக்கரந்தை, s. See under கரந்தை. குத்துக்காரை, s. See under காரை. குத்துக்கோரை, s. A grass, ஓர்கோரை, Cyperus compressus, L. குத்துத்திராய், s. An edible herb, ஓர் கீரை, Mollugo stricta, L. குத்துப்பகன்றை, s. A plant, ஓர்செடி, Lechea verticillata, L. குத்துப்பசனி, s.
