uṟuttu (p. 68) கிறேன், உறுத்தினேன், வே ன், உறுத்த, v. a. To cause to be, to originate, உண்டாக்க. 2. To form, constitute, ஏற்படுத்த. 3. To insert, introduce, சேர்க்க. 4. To render, produce, வருவிக்க. 5. To erect, construct, நாட்ட. 6. To bring in contact, clap together, make an impression on the mind, தாக்க. 7. To cause smarting irritation, &c. --as dust in the eye, a rough or uneven surface to one sitting, or lying down from the protrusion of his bones, வருத்த. 8. To produce mental pain--as by a sarcastic remark, &c., மனதிலுறுத்த.--Note. The meanings of this word are commonly determined by the noun prefixed to it, and it may generally be construed by the form to cause to be, &c. See எலும்புறுத்த, below. புரவிபண்ணுறுத்திடுவார். They equipped the horse. (நைட.) மருங்கினிற்கச்சியாப்புறுத்தான். He bound the girdle about his waist. (சேதுப்.) காலிலேகல்லுறுத்துகின்றது. The pebbles hurt my feet. உறுத்திப்பேச, inf. To speak so as to make an impression on the mind. 2. To speak with energy, earnestness, &c. எலும்புறுத்த, inf. To cause a smarting irritation--as the bones by being protruded. துன்புறுத்த, inf. To cause suffering. For many words compounded with this verb, such as கண்ணுறுத்த, பயமுறுத்த, மனமுறு த்த, வற்புறுத்த, &c., see in their respective places. 2)

elumpu (p. 74) s. A bone, அஸ்தி. எலும்புக்கூடு--முழுவெலும்பு, s. A skeleton, கங்காளம். எலும்புச்சீப்பு, s. The rib-bones, விலாவெலும்பு. 2. A bone-comb, தந்தச்சீப்பு. எலும்புருக்கி, s. A disease, a species of consumption which greatly emaciates the system and exposes the bones to view and is supposed to dry up their juices--the whites, ஓர்நோய். (Ains.) எலும்புறுத்த, inf. To suffer pain when lying down, &c., by the protrusion of the bones. எலும்பூற, inf. To knit, to unite, coalesce--as a broken bone, ஒடிந்தவெலும் புகூட. நெஞ்செலும்பு--மார்பெலும்பு, s. The sternum. குண்டியெலும்பு, s. The os sacrum. சவடியெலும்பு--காறையெலும்பு, s. The clavicle. துடையெலும்பு, s. The thigh-bone. காலெலும்பு, s. The bones of the leg--tibia and febula. நடுவெலும்பு, s. The spine, the back-bone. பழுவெலும்பு, s. The rib-bones. முள்ளெலும்பு, s. The vertebra. 3)

cri (p. 166) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. [lit. to go, move, descend]; hence. To lean, decline from the perpendicular; to recline, to fall on one side, சாய. 2. To flow or roll down --as a stream from a mountain, corn from a heap, சரிந்துசெல்ல. 3. To slip, slide off --as a garment, நழுவ. 4. To roll or fall down a precipice, or from a height--as bricks from a wall, மேலிருந்து கீழுருள. 5. [in reproach.] To recline or lie down, படுக்க. 6. To flock to a place, go in crowds, or a train--as men or beasts, பட்சிமுதலியனகூடிப் போக. 7. To die off, to die, (commonly said in reproach, சாவ.) 8. To decline--as a heavenly body, கிரகஞ்சாய. 9. To be set aslant, to be raised on one side, to be tilted, சரிவா யிருக்க. 1. To give way, to yield, to be defeated--as an army or party, பின்னிட. (c.) பகைவர்படைசரிந்தது. The army of the enemy was defeated. சும்மாசரிந்துகிடவேன். Don't be meddling, (lit.) go and lie down in peace. வெட்டினாலே தோள்சரிந்தது. The wounded shoulder hung down. அநேகர்சரிகிறார்கள். Many people are going in crowds. சரிந்தவெழுத்து, s. Sloping letters, in writing. சரிந்தவயிறு, s. The pendent abdomen --as when the f&oe;tus descends near the time of delivery. 2. A hanging paunch. சரிபொழுது, s. The declining sun. 2. The time of the declining sun. சரிய, [adv.] Slantingly, slopingly--as the declining sun, &c. குடல்சரிதல், v. noun. The gushing or falling out of the entrails. சரிகை, v. noun. Sliding, gliding, leaning, &c. சரிவு, v. noun. Recumbency, slope, declivity, சாய்வு. 2. Sliding, rolling, slipping or flowing down, தானியமுதலிய சரிகை. 3. Declivity, steep sides of a mountain, மலைச்சரிவு. 4. Verge of a town, village, river, &c., border, margin, பக் கச்சரிவு. 5. (Rott.)
