kiṭ (p. 108) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To lie, lie down, lie in a state of sleep or inactivity, &c., to lie-as a stone, or other lifeless bodies, படுக்க. 2. To be in a state or condition, to exist, இருக்க. 3. To remain, to continue, தரித்திருக்க.--Note. It is often used contemptuously, and sometimes assumes a transitive form. கிடக்கட்டும். Never mind; it is of no consequence; let it be; leave it untouched. அதுவெகுநாளைக்குக் கிடக்கும். It will endure a long time; will last long. காரணங்கிடக்கும். There is a cause. முட்டக்கிடவாது. It will not bear a slight hit or shove. ஊர்அமர்க்களமாய்க்கிடக்கிறது. There is a row or riot in town, lit. the country is a battlefield. அதுகிடக்க. Leaving that; further more. சும்மாகிட. Be quiet, hush. சென்றதுகிடந்திட. Leaving what is past. பகைவர்வருகிறாரென்று கிடக்கிறது. The rumour, the report is, that the enemy is coming. வியாதியாய்க்கிடக்க, inf. To be sick. கிடக்கை, v. noun. Lying, கிடத்தல். 2. s. State, condition, நிலைமை. 3. A bed, a couch, any sleeping place, படுக்கை. 4. The earth, பூமி. மனக்கிடக்கை, s. A feeling, as it exists in the mind; one's own feeling, மனக்கருத்து. 2. Emotion, pathos, passion, உளத்தியல். கிடப்பு, v. noun. Lying, கிடக்கை. 2. s. State, condition--commonly undersirable--as suffering, hunger, &c., இருக்கை. கிடை, v. noun. Lying, lying prostrate, a reclining posture, கிடக்கை. 2. s. State, condition--commonly not desirable, நிலை மை. 3. A fold, a pen, a stall, a nest, a lair, any place where beasts or birds lie, --as ஆட்டுக்கிடை, a sheep-fold, மாட்டுக் கிடை, a cow-stall, &c. கிடைகாட்ட, inf. To lie on the back-as beasts when dying. கிடைகூட்ட--கிடைமறிக்க--கிடைவை க்க, inf. To pen up or fold cattle for their manure. கிடைச்சரக்கு, s. Goods lying long on hand. கிடைதலை, s. The condition of being bed-ridden; prostration by sickness or old age. கிடைநாய், s. A shepherd's dog. கிடைப்பட, inf. To be laid on a bed of sickness, to lie ill. கிடைப்பாடு, v. noun. Lingering on a bed of sickness; being bed-ridden, being long lost, by theft, &c. கிடைபாய், s. Bed-mat, a mat for sleeping on. See பாய். கிடைமாடு, s. Cows in a pen, கிடையி லுள்ளமாடு. கட்டுக்கிடையாயிருக்க, inf. To lie a long time unopened, and thus liable to damage. கிடந்தகிடை, Lying as before. கிடந்தகிடையிலேகிடக்கிறான். He still lies as he did. 2. He remains as he was. கிடந்தகிடையைமறந்துவிட்டான். He has forgotten his former estate. நான்மூன்றுமாசங்கிடைவிடவில்லை. I have not left my bed for these three months. கிடவாக்கிடை, [vul.] Hardship, unusual severity, hunger, &c., கஷ்டம். கிடவாக்கிடைகிடக்க, inf. To be starved. 2. To pinch one's self. 27)

cayaṉam (p. 166) s. Sleep, lying down, taking rest, நித்திரை. 2. A bed, couch, a place for sleeping or reclining, படுக்குமணை. 3. Copulation, coition, புணர்ச்சி. (p.) W. p. 831. S'AYANA.--Note. There are five kinds of bedding, called பஞ்சசயனம், and பஞ்சணை. consisting or made of. 1. இலவம்பஞ்சு, silk-cotton. 2. செம்பஞ்சு, red cotton. 3. வெண்பஞ்சு, white cotton, 4. மயிர், hair, wool, &c., (சது.) down of the peacock. (நிக.) 5. அன்னத்தூவி, the down of swans. சயனப்பிரியன், s. One too fond of sleep. சயனவறை, s. A dormitory, பள்ளி யறை. 2)

cāy (p. 178) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், சாய, v. n. To incline or fall towards one side; to lean, to recline, lie down, சரிய. 2. To decline--as a heavenly body from the meridian, or toward the horizon, கிரகஞ்சாய. 3. To repair to, tend toward; crowd together --as a company of men or beasts, to retire, change the course, திரளாகச்செல்ல. 4. To be routed, to retreat, to flee as a discomfited army, இரிய. 5. To incline to wards--as the mind, disposition, &c., to be like in quality, color, shape, &c., மனஞ்சாய. 6. To be biased or prejudiced, to be partial, to be warped in judgment, நடுநிலைசாய. 7. To die, perish, சாவ. 8. To incline--as the beam of a balance by a preponderating weight, நிறைதாழ. 9. To decline from a direct course, to diverge, to become oblique, to turn aside, to deviate, ஒதுங்க. 1. To run ashore--as a vessel, கப்பல்கரைசாய. 11. To lean upon, rest against, சார. 12. To fail or come short in a comparison, தளர. 13. To happen, succeed, நடந்தேற. (c.) பொழுதுசாயவா. Come in the afternoon. இது மேற்கே சாய்கிறது. This inclines westward. சாய்ந்துகிட. Lie down. (in contempt.) இதின்மேலேசாயாதே. Don't lean upon it. உன்பிரயாணம்எப்பொழுதுசாயும். When will you set out on your journey? என்காரியஞ்சாயுமா. Shall I succeed in my undertaking? தண்டுஅப்படிச்சாய்ந்துபோயிற்று. The army marched that way. பழத்துக்குச்சாய்ந்துவிட்டது. The fruit has begun to ripen. [prov.] கதிர்சாய--கொம்புசாய, inf. To bend the head, as ripe grain. விளைந்துசாய, inf. To incline toward the ground, as ripening grain. (c.) காரியத்தைச்சாயவிடுதல், v. noun. Leting a matter take its own course, often to the person's loss or injury. கப்பல்சாய்ந்தோடுதல், v. noun. The sailing of a leaning ship. சாயப்பிடிக்க, inf. [prov.] To steer a vessel with the wind. சாயவிட, inf. To let a vessel run before the wind. 2. To let a vessel run ashore. 3. To run a vessel to the left. See ஏறவிட. சாயல், v. noun.
