pṇi (p. 292) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், பணிய, v. n. To become, or be, low in rank, or office; to be low, as a house or branch; to be short, as a person, a post, or a tree, தாழ. 2. To bow, to bend, to stoop; to make obeisance or a courtesy, to prostrate one's self in reverence, or worship; to be humble, submissive, வணங்க. 3. To decline, as a bird, &c., இறங்க. (c.) 4. [prov.] To become inferior, to fall in price, or as wages, குறைய. 5. To be reduced in circumstances, எளிமையாக. 6. [prov.] To eat, to feed, from the posture in eating. See பூதகலம்பணிதல். எல்லார்க்கும்நன்றாம்பணிதல்......A humble walk is good for all. பூதம்பணிகிறதுபோலப்பணிகிறான். He gobbles up his food like an elf. தலைபணிதல், v. noun. Bowing, hanging the head. See தலைவணங்க, தலைமடங்க. நாலுபெயருக்குந்தலைபணியநடத்தல். Behaving so as to command reverence. பணித்திறக்க, inf. To take down, as a load, கீழேயிறக்கிவைக்க. பணித்துக்கட்ட, inf. To build low-as a wall, or a house; to tie or fasten low. 2. To put on a dress so as to have it hang low. பணிந்தகூரை, s. A low-eaved roof. பணிந்தவன், appel. n. A shortish person. பணிந்தவார்த்தை, s. Submissive words; modest or reverential language. பணிந்துகேட்டல், v. noun. Asking humbly. பணிந்துநடக்க, inf. To walk humbly, behave submissively. 2. To set servilely. பணிந்துபோகுதல், v. noun.
