kuṟumpu (p. 132) s. Villages in desert tracts, பாலைநிலத்தூர். 2. Battle, fighting, war, போர். 3. A stronghold, at fort, அரனிருக்கை. 4. A class of savages, supposed to form a part of the aborigines of Southern India. குறும் பர்சாதி. Those living in the forests and jungles were called காட்டுக்குறும்பு, and those in towns and strongholds நாட்டுக்குறும் பு. 5. Barbarity, savageness, stubbornness, insolance, wickedness, குறும்புத்தன்மை. குறும்பர், s. (pl. of குறும்பன், sing.) The people of the Kurumba class. 2. Petty chieftains of the Kurumba tribes, being often intruders upon the new settlers of Southern India, குறுநிலமன்னர். 3. Savages; the low and vile, கீழ்மக்கள். 4. (Rott.) A short, woolly kind of sheep, ஓர்வகையாடு. குறும்பாட்டஞ்செய்ய--குறும்பாட்டமா ட, inf. To be wicked. குறும்புத்தனம், s. Stubbornness, selfwilledness, insolence, wickedness, mischief; the characteristics of the Kurumba people. குறும்புவன்னியன், s. One of the பன்னி tribe, ஓர்சாதியான். 44)

kuẕppu (p. 128) கிறேன், குழப்பினேன், வேன், ப்ப, v. a. To mix into a mass, to incorporate; to stir up, to agitate, கலக்க. 2. To derange, disorder; to jumble, ஒழுங்கைக் கலைக்க. 3. To confuse, disturb; to embroil, embarrass, தாறுமாறாக்க. 4. To disconcert, to trouble, மனதைக்குழப்ப. 5. To cause doubt, or hesitation; to frustrate a design; to interrupt, to hinder a contract, &c., தடுக்க. 6. To vex, annoy, tease, அலைக்கழிக்க. 7. v. n. to be restive, stubborn, unruly, intractable, குழப்பஞ்செய்ய. 8. To prevaricate, to shuffle; to evade fair questions, குழப்பிப்பேச. குழப்பிப்போட, inf. To mix, mingle. 2. To confuse, disturb, perplex. 3. To be restive or stubborn. விருந்தைக்குழப்பிப்போட்டான். He has broken up the feast. குழப்பியடிக்க, inf. To confuse, derange, perplex. 2. To excite, stir up, &c.--Note. More intense than குழப்ப. குழப்பு, v. noun. Mixing liquids of different consistency; mixing powders with liquids, &c., கலக்குகை. 2. Agitating, confusing, &c., குழப்புகை. 19)

caṇṭi (p. 158) s. A person lost to all sense of honesty and principle, a rogue, a stubborn, shameless person, நாணமில்லோன்; [from Sa, Chan'd'ha.] (c.) 2. W. p. 314. CHAN' D'HEE. An incarnation of Durga, to destroy Mahishásura, துர்க்கை. (p.) 3. A kind of tree, the leaves of which are medicinal; also used for food, ஓர்மரம். சண்டித்தனம், s. Shamelessness, foolhardiness, obstinacy. சண்டிப்பயல், s. A roguish fellow, a stubborn, fool-hardy fellow. சண்டிமாடு, s. A lazy untractable bullock or cow. 2. (fig.) A person as obstinate as a bullock. சண்டிக்கார், s. A kind of paddy which cannot be easily husked off (R.) சகசண்டி, s. See under சக. 14) *

tṭi (p. 222) s. A stick, staff, rod, தடிக்கொம்பு. 2. A club, a cudgel, bludgeon, தண்டம். 3. A rod or pole for measuring land, அள வுகோல். (c.) 4. A rice field, வயல். 5. Compartment of a rice field, பாத்தி. 6. A pestle, உலக்கை. 7. A bow, வில். 8. (a contraction of தடித்து.) Lightning, மின்னல். 9. Flesh, ஊன். 1. A guana, உடும்பு.--Note. There are different kinds of தடி--as இருப்புத் தடி, கிலுக்குத்தடி, குணுக்குத்தடி, சோட்டாத்தடி, நுகத் தடி, பாணாத்தடி, வளைதடி, which see severally. விறகுதடியாய்ப்போனான். He is greatly emaciated; (lit.) as fire-wood. [prov.] குயவனுக்குப் பலநாள்வேலை தடியடிக்காரனுக்குச்சற் றுநேரவேலை. Many day's work for the potter, but a few moment's for the breaker. தடிக்கம்பு, s. [loc. தடிக்கொம்பு.] A walking cane, or staff. தடிக்கம்புச்சாப்பாடு, v. noun. Flogging. See under சாப்பாடு. தடித்தனம், s. Rashness, passionateness, rudeness. தடிப்பயல், s. A stubborn person, a block-head. 2. A corpulent person. தடியடிக்காரன், s. A violent person, who acts inconsiderately. தடிமாடன், s. An impudent fellow; [ex மாடன், a demon.] தடியனாபிள்ளை--தடியாண்பிள்ளை, s. An impudent, or corpulent person. தடிபோட, inf. To measure by the long stick in the கிட்டிப்புள்ளு game. தடிமூக்குள்ளான், A kind of snipe. See உள்ளான். தடியன்--தடிமிண்டன், s. A stout, corpulent person, பருத்தவன். 2. A strong athletic man, ஆண்மையுடையவன். 3. An obstinate person, முருடன். குண்டாந்தடி, s. A baton. 6)
