(c.) அற, inf. [used adverbially.] With a verb it expresses; 1. Wholly, entirely, quite, முழுதும். 2. Intensely, excessively, மிகவும். 3. Negation, being without, as குற்றமற, without fault. அறச்செட்டுமுழுநஷ்டம். Selling things too dearly will cause entire loss; i. e. avarice causes loss. அறப்படித்தான். He has learnt all perfectly. எழுத்தறவாசி. Read with distinct articulation. அறக்கட்ட, inf. To tie tightly, இறுகக்கட்ட. 2. To monopolize, ஒருமிக்கக் கொள்ள. அறக்காய, inf. Deep red, extremely red. அறச்சிறியது, appel. n. The smallest. அறப்பாடல், v. noun. [commonly, அறம்பாடல்.] Composing poetry containing imprecations or spells.--Note. Verses of this kind are supposed sometimes to be made without design, and thus to injure the maker and others. அறப்பார்க்க, inf. To examine thoroughly, sift. 2. To take measures to defeat, ruin or injure one by defamation. அறமிகுந்தால், v. part. At most, at the utmost, by any means, with the greatest effort. அறமிகுந்துவந்தாலும்வரட்டும். If it must come (if no effort will avert it) let it come. அறவிளக்க, inf. To polish thoroughly. அறவூத--அறவைக்க, inf. To refine metals by fire, புடமிட. அறாவிலை, s. An exorbitant price. அறுகுறை, s. Deficiency, what is wanted to complete a whole; [ex அறு, parted, et வாய், opening.] அறுவாய்நிறைந்தவயிர்மதி. The bright moon whose waning is restored. அற்றறுதி, s. A complete end, entire ruin. அற்றறுதிபற்றறுதியாய்விட்டது. All communion is withdrawn. அற்றான், s. A poor man, தரித் திரன், 2. A sage, முனிவன். அற்றுப்போக, inf. To be lost, to cease to be. தடையற, inf. [used adverbially.] Without impediment. அறவு, v. noun. Cessation, ceasing, extinction. 2. Parting, separation, breach. அறவுளி, s. Incantations performed over a sick person in order to restore him. 2. Cessation, end, முடிவு. அறுதல், v. noun. Finishing, liquidating a debt. 2. s. A broken thread, string, rope, bandage, &c. அறுந்திருப்பது. 3. A mean, despicable or faulty person, உதவாதவன் அந்த அறுதலையிங்கேவரவிடலாகாது, You must not allow that vagabond to be here. தாம்புமறுதல் தோண்டியும்பொத்தல். A broken rope and a leaky water-pot. அறுதலி, s. A widow, கைம்பெ ண்; [ex அறுதல், being plucked off (the marriage jewel), et இ, fem. termination; or அறு, torn off, et தலி, contracted from தாலி, the badge of marriage.] அறுதலிமகனுக்கங்கமெல்லாஞ்சேஷ்டை. The son of a widow is mischievous throughout his whole frame. அறுதி, v. noun. End, close, termination, முடிவு. 2. Decision, decisiveness, determination--as a decisive sale, entire renunciation of a title to landed property, தீர்ப்பு. 3. s. The purchaser's possession or title to property purchased, விற்கிரயச்சீட்டு. 4. Absence, non-existence, இல்லாமை. 5. Death, சாவு. அறுதியாய்ப்போயிற்று. It is settled, completed, ended. அறுதியிட்டுச்சொன்னான். He spoke decisively. நமக்குக்கிடைத்தது நமக்கறுதி. Thus much is realized and we shall not have to part with it. அந்தப்பழக்கத்தையறுதியாய்விட்டுவிட்டேன். I have relinquished that custom entirely. அறுதிக்கரை, s. The proper and just division or distribution of land. அறுதிச்சாதனம்--அறுதியுறுதி, s. A deed of transfer, அறுதிச்சீட்டு. அறுதிச்சொல், s. A decisive word or sentence. அறுதிப்பங்கு, s. To bind (charm) the mouth of a serpent, a dog, &c. 2. To charm a weapon to prevent its cutting, &c. 3. To settle an account. அலகுகழிக்க, inf. To subtract or deduct a number in reckoning with kernels, seeds, &c. அலகுகிட்டுகை, v. noun. Having the lock-jaw. அலகுகூடை, s. A basket made of twigs closely twisted together, used to draw water. அலகுநிலை, s. The result of a reckoning, as the sum in addition, product in multiplication, &c. அலகுநிறுத்தல், v. noun. Placing a sword upright. This is a ceremony performed in the pagoda of துரோபதை, before the festival in honor to her is commenced. A sword is set up--the point downwards-- on the side of a vessel filled with water, and if it does not move, they think that the ceremony will be attended with success. This is also done in private houses. அலகுபருப்பு, s. A kind of pea. அலகுபனை, s. The long, flat leaved palmyra, Borassus flabelliformis, L. அலகுபாக்கு, s. Betel-nut sliced thin and boiled in water in which its husk has been boiled, giving it a reddish hue. அலகுபோட, inf. To perform a penance, in which the tongue is pierced with an iron wire, strings are drawn through the sides of the loins, or the breast cut with a knife. (c.) அலகுப்பூட்டு, v. noun. Closing the mouth in penance. அலகுவிறைப்பு, v. noun. Becoming cold and stiff as the jaws in childbirth, fits, hunger, &c. வேப்பலகு, s. The rib or small stalk of the leaves of the margosa tree. திருவலகு, s. A broom used in pagodas. சோற்றலகு, s. A sort of rice strainer, made of ribs of palm leaves. 23)

aḷḷu (p. 33) கிறேன், அள்ளினேன், வேன், அள்ள, v. a. To take up a handful, lade, bale, take up in the hollow of the hand-as water, sand, grain, &c., கையான்முகக்க. 2. To sweep away as a flood, carry off in large quantities or great numbers as an epidemic, famine, thief, &c., to ravage, plunder, pillage, spoil, devastate, வாரிக் கொள்ள. (c.) அள்ளாதுகுறையாது சொல்லாது பிறவாது. If nothing be taken, nothing will be wanting; if nothing be spoken, nothing will be rumored; i. e. there is no rumor however vague, but has some truth in it. அரிசியள்ளுகிறகாகம்போலே திரிகிறான். He wanders about as greedy (of gain) as the crow is of the rice which it steals. கையையள்ளிப்போட்டது. It has grazed or taken off the skin of my hand (whether a bow, hot iron, or any thing else.) அள்ளிக்கொட்ட, inf. To take up from a quantity and shoot down elsewhere. 2. To give liberally. அள்ளிருள், s. Thick darkness, or darkness so dense that it may be grasped. அள்ளுகொள்ளை, s. Great waste, profusion, extravagance or taking more than what is right, பெருங்கொள்ளை. அள்ளு, v. noun. A handful of grain, &c., given to the man who measures, அளவுகூலித்தானியம். அள்ளெடுக்கிறவன், s. The man who receives the handful of grain for measuring. அள்ளுதல், v. noun. Being narrow, close, நெருங்கல். 2. Taking up a handful of water, rice, grain, &c., getting water in a basket, pot, &c., taking out rice, milk, &c., by a spoon from a cup, &c., அள்ளுகை. 43)

āṭu (p. 38) கிறேன், ஆடினேன், வேன், ஆட, v. n. To move, wave, shake, vibrate, swing, அசைய. 2. To dance, play, sport. gesticulate, to act a part in play, கூத்தாட. 3. (p.) To wash, bathe, play in water, குளிக்க. 4. To war, fight, join in battle, பொர. 5. To copulate, புணர. 6. [in combination.] To do, to act, செய்ய. 7. To speak, சொல்ல. பணத்துக்காடுகிறான். He is urgently soliciting money. ஆடவை, s. Place of dancing, நிருத்தசபை. ஆடி, s. A dancer. ஆடித்திரிய, inf. To make much ado about a thing. 2. to go around or be too much in company. ஆடுகால், s. The supporters of a lever for a well-sweep. ஆடுதொடை, s. The inner fleshy part of the thigh. ஆடுமாலை, s. [prov.] A gay, lively, laughing girl, young woman. ஆடல், v. noun. Moving, shaking, rocking, &c. 2. Fighting, battle, war. 3. Being powerful. 4. Victory. 5. Playing. 6. Coition. 7. Dancing. 8. Washing, bathing. 9. Boasting, friendly word or conversation. 1. Saying. ஆடல்பாடல், s. Singing and dancing. ஆடற்றரு, s. A dancing song used in comedies. ஆட்டம், v. noun. Motion, vibration, agitation, vacillation, rocking, swinging, rolling or pitching (at sea, &c.), அசைவு. 2. Dance, play, game, prank, an act of play, a turn-about, a turn, once playing the game, விளையாட்டு. 3. Likeness, the assumption of a character, profession, conduct, shape in imitation, தன்மை. 4. Moving about, energy, vigor, action, முயற்சி. (c.) அங்கேபோக ஆட்டமாடுகிறான். He insists on going there, (contrary to advice.) இந்த ஆட்டத்துக்கெல்லாமவனசையான். He will not be moved by this agitation. அவன் ஆட்டந்தீர்ந்தது. He power, bustle, agitation, harassing, &c. has come to an end. அவனிரண்டாட்டம் விளையாடினான் ஓராட்டந் தோற்றுப்போனான். He played two games and lost one of them. ஆட்டமடித்தல், v. noun. A play among children in which the புள்ளு, or small stick, being swung round so as to fly t a distance, is struck by the கிட்டி, or larger stick. ஆட்டமெடுக்க, inf. To enter on a rash or odd enterprise, to beat another in the above play. 10)

ingkitam (p. 45) s. A hint, sign, indication of feeling or sentiment by gesture, குறி ப்பு. 2. Purpose, intention, நினைவு. Wils. p. 129. INGITA. 3. Sweetness, agreeableness, இனிமை. (p.) அந்த இங்கிதத்தினாலே மனோவிகாரமாய். Being disturbed in mind by (her) gestures. தங்களைக்காத்திங்கிதம் பேசுகிறவர்கள். Those who wait about them, (for opportunity) and then make known their wishes. இங்கிதகவி, s. A poem in which the poet expresses the object or wish of his patron, having ascertained it by signs, gestures, &c., பாட்டுடைத்தலைவன்கருத் தைவிளக்குங்கவி. 2. A poet who expresses his thoughts sweetly, இனிப்பைத்தருங் கவி பாடுவோன். 3. A sweet poem, இன்பந்த ருங்கவி. இங்கிதக்காரன், s. One who accommodates himself to another's views, a flatterer, இன்சொற்சொல்வோன். இங்கிதமானபேச்சு, s. Language accommodated to circumstances, flattery. 24)
