To bind (charm) the mouth of a serpent, a dog, &c. 2. To charm a weapon to prevent its cutting, &c. 3. To settle an account. அலகுகழிக்க, inf. To subtract or deduct a number in reckoning with kernels, seeds, &c. அலகுகிட்டுகை, v. noun. Having the lock-jaw. அலகுகூடை, s. A basket made of twigs closely twisted together, used to draw water. அலகுநிலை, s. The result of a reckoning, as the sum in addition, product in multiplication, &c. அலகுநிறுத்தல், v. noun. Placing a sword upright. This is a ceremony performed in the pagoda of துரோபதை, before the festival in honor to her is commenced. A sword is set up--the point downwards-- on the side of a vessel filled with water, and if it does not move, they think that the ceremony will be attended with success. This is also done in private houses. அலகுபருப்பு, s. A kind of pea. அலகுபனை, s. The long, flat leaved palmyra, Borassus flabelliformis, L. அலகுபாக்கு, s. Betel-nut sliced thin and boiled in water in which its husk has been boiled, giving it a reddish hue. அலகுபோட, inf. To perform a penance, in which the tongue is pierced with an iron wire, strings are drawn through the sides of the loins, or the breast cut with a knife. (c.) அலகுப்பூட்டு, v. noun. Closing the mouth in penance. அலகுவிறைப்பு, v. noun. Becoming cold and stiff as the jaws in childbirth, fits, hunger, &c. வேப்பலகு, s. The rib or small stalk of the leaves of the margosa tree. திருவலகு, s. A broom used in pagodas. சோற்றலகு, s. A sort of rice strainer, made of ribs of palm leaves. 23)

āṟṟu (p. 43) கிறேன், ஆற்றினேன், வேன், ஆற்ற, v. a. To cool, refresh, குளிரச்செய்ய. 2. To assuage, appease, alleviate, soothe, console, compose, lull, mitigate, தணிக்க. 3. To slack, loosen what is tied or twisted, முறுக்குத்தளர்த்த. (c.) 4. (p.) To do, act, perform a duty, செய்ய. 5. To bear a weight, தாங்க. 6. To carry, or sustain a burden or calamity, பொறுக்க.--Note. This verb is sometimes used impersonally--as இந்த வழியென்னாலேயாற்றாது. I cannot get along this road. ஆற்ற, inf. [used adverbially.] Greatly, exceedingly, மிகுதியாய். அமிழ்தினுமாற்றவினிதே. Sweeter than nectar. (குறள்.) கணவராற்றமுனிந்தே. The husbands greatly resenting. ஆற்றாக்கேடு, s. Extreme poverty, indigence exigence, great necessity. ஆற்றாச்சண்டி, s. One who perversely persists in application for aid through poverty, one past shame, an insatiable wretch. ஆற்றாத்தனம், s. Insatiableness. ஆற்றாப்பட்சம், s. What cannot be borne, intolerableness--as ஆற்றாமை. ஆற்றாமை, neg. v. noun. Inability to bear--as excessive hunger, pain, &c., சகிக்கக்கூடாமை. 2. Impatience, பொறா மை. 3. Voracity, voraciousness, insatiableness, திருத்தியின்மை. ஆற்றார், s. Foes, opponents, rivals, those who envy one, பகைவர். 2. The poor, the afflicted, தரித்திரர். (p.) ஆற்றிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To cool and give. 2. To help or relieve one at work. ஆற்றித்தேற்ற, inf. To soothe and console. ஆற்றிப்போற்றிக்கொள்ள, inf. To treat guests with civility, விருந்தினரை யுபசரிக்க. 2. To seek or find a place, a situation, an opportunity. இடம்புரி, s. A conch, a species of shell from which bangles, or handrings are cut, சங்கு. 2. A left hand shell, இடம்புரிச்சங்கு. 3. A species of medicinal plant forming a drug, ஓர்பூடு. 4. A rope twisted to the left, இடப்பக்க மாகமுறுக்கியகயிறு. இடவகை, s. A house, வீடு. (சது.) 2. Local affinity. இடவழு, s. irṇṭu (p. 49) s. and adj. Two, இரண்டா மெண்.-- As an adjective prefix, it often becomes இரு and ஈர், double, இரட்டிப்பான-as இருநிறம், two colors, a double color; ஈர லகு, two syllables. See அலகு. இரண்டிலொன்றுசொல்லு. Say either this or that. நாடிரண்டுபட்டது. The country is divided into two factions. இரட்ட, inf. To double, repeat a motion, sound, action, &c., to reiterate. See இரட்டிக்க. இரட்டாங்காலி, s. [prov. prop. இரட்டைமரம்.] A double tree--especially of the palmyra species. இரட்டி, s. Double quantity, twice as much, இருபங்கு. அதற்கிரட்டிதருவேன். I will give double the quantity. பத்திரட்டி, s. Twice ten. இரட்டிக்க, inf. To double, repeat, reiterate, இரட்ட. 2. (c.) To return --as a disease, வியாதிமக்களிக்க. 3. To plough the second time, always crosswise, இரண்டாமுறையுழ. 4. To differ from, be discrepant, &c., வேறுபட. 5. To disagree--as different kinds of food eaten at once, to be indigested, போசனம் ஒவ்வா திருக்க. இந்தச்சாட்சியந்தச்சாட்சிக்கிரட்டிக்கிறது. This evidence differs from the other. மகரமிரட்டித்தது. The consonant ம், is doubled. நோயிரட்டிக்கின்றது. The pain is double what it was. 2. The disease has returned. இரட்டித்தசெலவு, s. Double expense. இரட்டித்துச்சொல்ல, inf. To repeat, say a thing a second time. 2. To make a discrepant statement, or a statement different from that of another. உழவிரட்டிக்க, inf. To plough the second time. இரட்டிப்பு, s. Two-fold, twice as much, a double quantity. 2. v. noun. Doubling, making two-fold. இரட்டு, s. Two-fold, இருமடங் கு. (p.) 2. (c.) Double-threaded cloth, either coarse or fine, sack-cloth, ஓர்வ கைச்சீலை. இரட்டுப்பை, s. A sack made of coarse cloth. இரட்டுறமொழிய, inf. To state a rule so that it may comprise another, the one plainly apparent, the other to be made out by study; or the use of terms of double meaning either of which serves to make good sense, though the ideas will be wholly different; or the use of terms by which one thing is employed and another implied. See உத்தி. (p.) இரட்டை, s. Two things naturally conjoined--as a double fruit, leaf, &c.; twins, two things alike, இரண்டொன் றானது. 2. (p.) Gemini in the zodiac, two females, மிதுனராசி. 3. Even, even numbers--opposed to ஒற்றை, இரட்டையெண்-as 6, 8, 24, &c. 4. A couple, tow, சேரடு. 5. A female songster, பாடுவிச்சி. ஒற்றையிரட்டைபிடித்தல். A kind of play, playing at odd and even. இரட்டைக்கிளவி, s. Double words imitating certain sounds, ஒலிக்கு றிப்பில்வருமிரட்டைமொழி--as சளசளவெனமழை த்தாரைகான்றன. (The clouds) poured a shower of rain, with a murmuring sound. (இராமா.) (p.) இரட்டைச்சுழி, s. The symbol ை of the vowel ஐ. 2. Two curls in horses, cattle, &c.--as இருசுழி. இரட்டைத்தொடை, s. One of the forty-three kinds of rhyme in which the same word is repeated through the line, (see தொடை)--as ஒக் குமே யொக்குமே யொக்குமே யொக்கும் விளக்கினு ட்சீறெரியொக்குமே யொக்கும் குளக்கொட்டிப்பூவி னிறம், the color of the flower of the water-plant கொட்டி, resembles the delicate flame of the lamp. (p.) இரட்டைப்படவெண்ண, inf. To count even, making a series increasing by a common ratio--as 2, 4, 6, &c. இரட்டைப்பாக்கு, s. An arecanut with two eyes producing, if planted, two trees. இரட்டைப்பிள்ளை, s. Twins. 2. [prov.] A double young areca or cocoa-nut tree. இரட்டைப்புரிக்கயிறு, s. A rope or string made of two strands. இரட்டைமணிமாலை, s. A poem consisting of twenty verses of வெண்பா and கலித்துறை, or நேரிசைவெண்பா and ஆசி ரியவிருத்தம், and composed according to the rules of அந்தாதி. See பிரபந்தம். (p.) இரண்டகம், s. Treachery, perfidy, duplicity, dissimulation, double-dealing, துரோகம். (c.) இரண்டகம்நினைக்க, inf. To frame a treacherous design. இரண்டகம்பண்ண, inf. To betray, act treacherously, perfidiously. இரண்டகவாதி, s. A treacherous person, an insincere friend, துரோகி. இரண்டன்மை, s. Sameness, (lit.) being not two--as அத்துவைதம், which see. இரண்டாந்தரம், s. Secondary kind or class--as of cloth, tobacco, &c. 2. The second time. இரண்டாம்பட்சம், s. Second or secondary class, kind, &c., not the most approved. இரண்டாம்பாட்டன், s. A great grand-father, மூதாதை. இரண்டாவது, s. That which is the second. 2. adv. Secondly. இரண்டுக்குப்போக, inf. [vul.] To go to stool, (usage of children.) இரண்டுக்குற்றது, s. Critical juncture, a crisis in a disease, சாத்தியமோவசர த்தியமோவென்பது. 2. Dubiousness, possibility of two contrary impending issues, a double probability, இதுவோவதுவோவெ ன்கை. இரண்டுங்கெட்ட நேரம், s. [vul.] The dusk of the evening, used for an inauspicious or untimely season, &c. இரண்டுங்கெட்டவன், s. An indifferent man, neither good nor bad. இரண்டுசொல்ல, inf. To evade, refuse, give an indirect or evasive answer. இரண்டுசெய்ய, inf. To act perfidiously. 2. To act against one's command, to behave disobediently. இரண்டுநினைக்க, inf. To be hypocritical, to meditate treachery under a show of honesty. இரண்டுபட, inf. To vary from, differ in the issue or event, disagree, dissent, become opposed, வேறுபட. 2. To be discrepant, appear discordant, &c., ஒற்றுமையின்றாக. 3. To be doubtful, ஐயுற. இரண்டுபடுத்த, inf. To disjoin, disunite, cause to differ, sow dissension. இரண்டுபண்ண, inf. A person of a double curl may live in luxury or be reduced to beggary. இருதலைக்கொள்ளி, s. A brand burning at both ends. ஒருதலைக்கொள்ளிநடுவிலெறும்பைப்போலானே ன். I am like an ant between two fires; i. e. I am in straits. இருதலைப்பட்சி, s. A kind of bird fabled to have two heads. இருதலைமணியன், s. A snake said to have two heads--one at each end. இருதாரைக்கத்தி, s. Two-edged sword or knife. இருதிணை, s. The two classes உயர்திணை and அஃறிணை into which Tamil nouns are divided. (See திணை.) 2. The two classes into which creatures are divided, இயங்குதிணை and இயங்கரத்திணை, which see. (p.) இருநிதிக்கிழவன், s. Kuvêra, கு பேரன். (p.) இருநினைவு, s. The two classes of moral actions--good and evil, in every one of which there is merit or demerit, leading to future births in which they are to be suffered or enjoyed, while they keep the soul from union with deity, நல்வினை தீவினை. A poetic foot of two அசை, ஆசிரியச்சீர். (p.) ஈரடி, s. Two lines, இணையடி. (p.) 2. That which is bifurcate or two forked, கவர். 3. Doubtfulness, fluctuation, சந்தேகம். ஈரடிப்பயன், s. Ambiguity in conversation, equivocation, double-mindedness, உபயார்த்தம். 2. Double-dealing, acting under-handedly so as to suit both parties, கபடம். 3. Uncertainty, doubtfulness, சந்தேகம். 4. [in poetry.] Repetition of a foot or feet in two lines with different meanings, வந்தசொல்லேயிரண்டடி யினும்வரப்பாடுவது. See மடக்கு. ஈரடிவெண்பா, s. A kind of வெ ண்பா of two lines--the குறள்வெண்பா. (p.) ஈரடுக்கொலி, s. Reiterated words imitative of sound--as நெறுநெறென்றுமுறிந் தது, it broke with a reiterated crash; வண்டில்கடகடென்றோடிற்று, the carriage rolled along with a rattling noise. (p.) ஈரறம், s. The two kinds of அறம், or virtuous actions according to the shasters; viz.: இல்லறம், matrimony and its accompanying household virtues; and துறவறம், the virtues of ascetic practice. (p.) ஈரறிவுயிர், s. Beings that have the sense of feeling and tasting--as snails, shells, &c., பரிசமுஞ்சுவையுமறியும்நந்துமுதலிய செந்து. (p.) ஈராசிடைவெண்பா, s. A species of வெண்பா, with two ஆசு affixed to the end of the third foot of the second line. (p.) ஈராடி--ஈராட்டி, s. [prov.] A changeable state of the wind and weather, previous to the change of monsoon, indicative of rain. 2. A calm, a lull, the failing of the wind at this season, காற்றினமைவு. 3. Fickleness, hesitation, fluctuation of mind, நிலையின்மை. இக்காரியத்திலென்மனமீராடிப்படுகின்றது. In this affair my mind wavers. ஈராட்டி, s. [prov.] Two wives. ஈரி, s. A play of girls, two stones being taken up from the ground while a third is tossed in the air, ஓர்விளையாட்டு. (c.) ஈரிலைப்பயிர், s. A young shoot when two leaves appear. ஈரிழை, s. Double-thread used in some kinds of cloth--as in muslin. ஈரிழைச்சல்லா, s. A muslin whose warp consists of two untwisted threads. ஈரீற்றா, s. A cow that has had two calves. (p.) ஈருடல், s. [in mythology.] Beings possessing the form, in part, of two bodies--as Vishnu manifested in the form of man and lion, இருதன்மைத்தாயவுடல். (p.) ஈருயிர்க்காரி, s. (c.) நோயாளியின்காரியமீரொட்டாயிருக்கின்றது. The case of the patient is doubtful. ஈரொட்டாகச்சொல்ல, inf. To speak doubtfully, uncertainly, ambiguously. ஈரொட்டாகவாங்க, inf. To take things conditionally, that is, if approved; or, as a merchant, to pay for them if sold. 6)

To become broken--as a vessel; to crack, burst, break in pieces, split, to be fractured--as the skull, &c.; to break with force suddenly, to break or burst open--as a bank or shore; to break open--as a letter or seal, &c.; to be broken--as the skin; to be hurt--as by a wound, தகர. 2. To be ruined, கெட. நெஞ்சுடைந்தவனாய்ப்போனான். He is dispirited, dejected, &c.; he is in despair. கொப்புளமுடைந்தது. The blister is broken. ஒன்னலருடைந்துபோனார். The enemy was discomfited. உடை, s. Clothes, garments, vesture, dress, வஸ்திரம். உடைநடைபாவனை, s. The mode of dress, the gait, the manner, external appearance. உடையல், s. Any thing broken, a breach, a fracture. உடையல்நெரியல், s. Things cracked and broken. உடைவாள், s. A short scimiter, an accoutrement or article of equipage, சுரிகை. உடைவு, v. noun. A breach, disruption, eruption, infraction, crack, fracture, தகர்வு. 2. Being routed, a discomfiture, defeat, இரிவு. 3. Debility, brokenness of constitution, தளர்வு. 4. A dejected or broken-hearted person. 101)

uṭai (p. 59) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To break a vessel, &c.; to burst, break open, break a bank, &c.; to break lumps, clods, &c.; to break a boil, a blister, the skull or any other flat, solid or massive substance; to split, fracture, தகர்க்க. 2. To break the ranks of an enemy, to defeat, discomfit, disperse, rout, put to flight, இரிக்க. 3. To ruin, impoverish one, கெடுக்க. 4. To untwist, untwine, முறுக்கவிழ்க்க. 5. v. n. To break--as a boil, கட்டியுடைக்க.-Note. உடைய and உடைக்க are not applicable to the breaking of a tree, a branch, an arm or any other long and cylindrical body that is broken off short or asunder. For this meaning see முரிக்க, ஒடிக்க, &c. தண்ணீருடைத்துப்பாய்கிறது. The water has broken (the dam) and flows out. பல்லுடைப்பேனென்றான். He said, I will break your teeth. கட்டுடைக்க, inf. To burst an embankment--as water. பெண்மையுடைக்கும்படை, s. The weapon that dissolves female continency. தலையுடைக்க, inf. To take much pains, mentally--as in abstruse calculations, intricate business. உடைப்பு, v. noun. A breaking, a breach, the bursting of a bank, உடை க்கை. 2. s. A channel out or broken through a dam in a field, disruption, உடைந்தஅறுவாய். 3. Weakness, தளர்ச்சி. தலையுடைப்பு, v. noun. A trouble, some intricate employment. 102)

uppu (p. 62) s. Salt, any species of salt, acid or alkaline, லவணம். 2. Saltness, உவர்ப்பு. 3. The sea of salt-water-as distinguished from the other seas of Hindu cosmogony, the ocean, கடல். 4. Sweetness, deliciousness, இனிமை. (கு. 382. 8.) 5. A kind of play among females, மகளிர்விளையா ட்டு. 6. Melody, music, அராகம். 7. A heap of sand used as a goal in the game of prison-bars, விளையாட்டுமணற்குவியல். --Note. Five salts are spoken of as used by alchymists and சித்தாதிகள்; viz.: 1. கறியுப்பு, culinary salt. 2. வெடியுப்பு, salt-petre. 3. இந்துப்பு, a fossil, medicinal salt. 4. ஓட்டு ப்பு, salt supposed to be formed in the skull. 5. அமரியுப்பு, Urinary salt. இந்தப்பேச்சிலேஉப்பில்லை. This speech is void of savor. உப்பங்கழி, s. Salt-pan, உப்புக் கழி. உப்பளம், s. Salt-works, salt-pans, உப்புவிளைநிலம். 2. Brackish land, கழி. உப்பளங்கட்ட, inf. To construct salt-pans. உப்பளம்பாய்ச்ச, inf. To convey water into the salt-pans. உப்பளவர்--உப்பமைப்போர், s. Saltmanufacturers. உப்பிட--உப்புப்போட, inf. To salt. உப்பில்லாப்பேச்சு, s. Insipid discourse. உப்புக்கசனை--உப்பூறணி, s. Being impregnated with salt, as land. உப்புக்கட்டி, s. A granulation on a lump of salt. உப்புக்கண்டம், s. Salted meat, a piece of saltfish, flesh, &c. உப்புக்கண்டம்பறிகொடுத்தபார்ப்பாத்திபோல.... Like a Brahmanee who has lost her salted mutton [prov.], used when something is lost which cannot to inquired after. உப்புக்கரித்தல்--உப்புக்கூர்த்தல், v. noun. Having a saline taste. உப்புக்கீரை, s. A plant used for curry, ஓர்வகைக்கீரை. 2. A kind of curry made of that plant, ஓர்கறி. உப்புக்குத்தி, s. A kind of bird, ஓர்பட்சி. உப்புக்கொள்ளுகிறது, s. A play, taking a child on the back and crying, Salt for sale, ஓர்விளையாட்டு. உப்புச்செய்ய--உப்புவிளைவிக்க-உப்பமைக்க, inf. To make salt, உப்புண் டாக்க. உப்புத்தண்ணீர், s. Salt-water, brackish water. உப்புத்தரை--உப்புத்தரவை, s. Brackish soil. உப்புத்திராவகம், s. Muriatic acid, இலவணதிராவகம். உப்புத்திரி, s. A twist dipped in a preparation of salt, to serve as an injection for a child, மலங்கழிக்கஏற்றுந்திரி. உப்புப்பட, inf. To form as salt in pans, &c., by natural process, உப்புண் டாக. உப்புப்பாத்தி, s. The division or beds in salt-pans. உப்புப்பாத்திகட்ட, inf. To make salt-pans. உப்புப்பார்க்க, inf. To try the seasoning of curry, &c. by the taste, உப்புருசிபார்க்க. உப்புப்பால், s. The milk of the mother after child birth for three days. உப்புப்புல்லு, s. Grass growing in salt soil. உப்புப்பூக்க--உப்புப்பொரிய, inf. To begin to form--as salt; to form as the lamina, உப்புமலர. 2. To have a pale color on the skin, perhaps a concretion from perspiration, சரீரத்திலுப்புப்படர. உப்புப்புளிதள்ள, inf. To abstain from salt and acid things--a regimen in medical prescriptions. உப்புப்புளிப்புப்பார்க்க, inf. To examine the taste of curries, சுவையினிசை வுபார்க்க. 2. (fig.) uẕṟṟu (p. 67) கிறேன், உழற்றினேன், வே ன், உழற்ற, v. a. To twist, whirl any thing about, சுழற்ற. 2. To move about the arms, or legs through pain, கைகாலுழற்ற. 3. [prov.] To pass time tediously, to get through an irksome duty, காலத்தைவருத்தத் தோடுகழிக்க. 4. v. n. To writhe through pain, வருந்திப்புரள. உழற்றிக்கழிக்க, inf. To pass in endurance. பூண்டவேலையையொருபடியுழற்றிக்கழித்துக்கொண் டேன். I have accomplished the unpleasant business in which I was engaged. சமுசாரத்தையுழற்றிக்கழிக்க. kyiṟu (p. 96) s. Rope, cord, string, twine, line, bobbin, வடம். கயிறடிக்க, inf. To strike lines on timber with a colored string--as a carpenter. கயிறறுந்தஆட்கள், s. [prov.] Vagabonds, vagrants, strollers. கயிறுகட்ட, inf. To put off from day to day. 2. To show a pretended consent--as a seller to give his goods to one who offers a low price. 3. To employ one to deceive another. கயிறுசாத்த--கயிறுபோட, inf. To pass a string between the leaves of an ola book in order to divine by it. கயிறுசிக்குப்பட, inf. To be embroiled, to disagree, to quarrel--as husband and wife, &c., தொந்தரவுபட. கயிறுதடி, s. One of the weaver's implements, நெய்வார்கருவியிலொன்று. கயிறுதிரிக்க--கயிறுமுறுக்க, inf. To twist, twine, cord, &c. கயிறுபிடிக்க--கயிறுபின்ன, inf. To plat bobbin, cord, &c. கயிறுமாற, inf. To change the rope on the head of a horse or ox newly bought, to ratify the purchase--considered auspicious to the seller. (திருவிளை.) கயிற்றுக்கோல், s. A kind of balance or steel-yard, ஓர்தராசு. கயிற்றுக்கோலாட்டம், v. noun. Playing with strings and sticks so that a weft or lace is formed thereby, ஓர்வ கைவிளையாட்டு. கயிற்றுச்சுருள், s. A coil of rope. See சுருளை. கயிற்றுப்பொருத்தம், s. Astrological agreement required in order to the assumption of the marriage symbol-one of the ten points in astrology in which there should be agreement in the horoscopes of the male and female in order to the suitableness of a marriage connexion.--Note. When such agreement is wanting, though the marriage takes place, the symbol is not put on. கயிற்றேணி, s. A rope-ladder, the shrouds of a vessel, நூலேணி. வடக்கயிறு, s. A rope which is used in lowering or elevating the ploughshare. 2. A great rope used at Hindu festivals for drawing the car. தொடுகயிறு, s. A rope used in ploughing. 51)

kẕuttu (p. 98) s. The neck of a person, brute, thing, &c., கண்டம். கழுத்தடி, s. The lower part of the nape of the neck, தோண்மேல். கழுத்தறுக்க, inf. To cut the throat, to server the wind-pipe. முன்விட்டுப்பின்னின்றுகழுத்தறுக்கலாமோ...... Would you bid one take precedence and then cut his throat? ஒருவன்கழுத்திலேகட்டிவிட. To devolve unpleasant consequences on another. 2. To attribute a crime or blame to a person. 3. To impose on another unsaleable goods, or a woman ineligible for marriage. கழுத்திடுகயிறு, s. Halter for a beast. கழுத்திருத்த, inf. To have the neck pressed down with a heavy load. (c.) கழுத்திலேகயிறுபோட, inf. To threaten self-immolation for the purpose of recovering debts, &c. 2. To be very treacherous, insidious, perfidious. (c.). கழுத்துக்குட்டை, s. A neckcloth, a cravat. (c.) கழுத்துக்கொடுக்க, inf. To lay down the neck for another on the block, to subject one's self to inconvenience or danger. 2. To expose one's life by a commission of crime. 3. To submit to the yoke as bullocks. கழுத்துச்சந்து, s. The joint of the neck. கழுத்துச்சுளுக்கு, s. Straining of the ligaments of the neck by violent turning of the head. கழுத்துத்திருக, inf. To wring off the head of a fowl, &c. 2. To throttle, twist the head. கழுத்துநெடியபானை, s. A longnecked pot. கழுத்துப்பட்டிகை, s. A collar, a cape. கழுத்துப்பட்டை, s. The collar of a cloak. கழுத்துப்பருத்திருக்க, inf. To have a thick neck. கழுத்துப்பொருத்தம், s. One of the ten பொருத்தம் for marriage, மணப்பொருத்தம் பத்திலோன்று. (c.) கழுத்துமுறிக்க--கழுத்தைமுறிக்க, inf. To break the neck--spoken of the power, &c., of demons. வேண்டாமென்றுகழுத்தைமுறிக்கிறான். He absolutely refuses, it is very repugnant to his feelings, &c. கழுத்துவெட்டி, s. A cut-throat, a betrayer, an assassin. (c.) கழுத்தூட்டி, s. The throat. (p.) கழுத்தேறுதண்டம், s. Aggravated or very heavy punishment. கழுத்தைநெரிக்க, inf. To throttle one. கட்டுக்கழுத்தி, s. A married woman. 81)

kuṭl (p. 116) s. Bowels, entrails, intestines, garbage, குடர்--Note. இரைக்குடல், கல்லுக்கு டல், சிறுகுடல், தீனிக்குடல், பெருங்குடல்மணிக் குடல், மலக்குடல்--are different kinds of குடல் (See those words.) 2. A kind of fungous matter in the hollow of gourds, &c. காய்குடல். 3. Pith in the body of trees, மரக்குடல். 4. Streaks running down the interrior of plantains and other fruits, பழக்குடல். குடலதிருகிறது. The bowels tremble. குடலுங்கூந்தலுங்கொண்டதுகோலம். The bowels and the hair must be treated as accustomed. குடலழுகினபூசனிக்காய். A pumpkin, the internal part of which is rotten. குடல்கொழுத்தது. The bowels are grown fatty; causing a bad appetite--also exciting pride. குடலெரிகின்றது. The bowels are yearn. குடலேறிக்கொண்டுது. The bowels are twisted or deranged--as by assuming an unnatural position. குடலொட்டிக்கழிய. To have a flux from noxious matter in the bowels; to have a severe and copious discharge at stool. குடலேற்றம், s. Twisting or derangement of the bowels, See ஏற்றம். குடல்மாலை, s. The folds or turnings of the bowels. குடல்வலி, s. Aching pains in the bowels, caused often by continued hunger. குடல்வாதம், s. A disease causing flatulency and frequent watery discharges. குடல்கவ்வு, s. The omentum, caul. குடற்பிரிவு, v. noun. [prov.] A dislodgment of the bowels. குடற்புரை, s. The orifice of the bowels. குடற்பை--குடற்போர்வை, s. The womb, uterus. குடலறவோட, inf. To run very fast so as to cause the bowels to pant; lit. loosen or part. குடலைப்பிடுங்க, inf.
