arukku (p. 25) கிறேன், அருக்கினேன், வேன், அருக்க, v. a. To diminish, குறைக்க. 2. To make scarce, reduce in quantity, சுருக்க. 3. v. n. To keep back from others use, (as keeping up grain, making it scarce and dear,) to stand out in bargaining, stickle, haggle, அருக்காணிபண்ண. 4. To make great efforts. உற்சாகப்பட, inf. To be energetic, have an impulse of mind for the performance of actions, to resolve, முயற்சிப்பட. உற்சாகப்படுத்த, inf. To excite one to action. உற்சாகப்பலி, s. [in Christ. usage.] Free-will offering. உற்சாகப்பிழை, s. Averseness, unwillingness, backwardness. உற்சாகமாய்க்கொடுக்க, inf. To give freely. உற்சாகமாய்ச்செய்ய, inf. kōṭu (p. 149) கிறேன், கோடினேன், கோட, v. a. (Sans. KÔT'A, crooked.) To be crooked, oblique; to bend, வளைய. 2. To swerve, to deviate, to diverge, கோண. 3. To be partial, biased, நடுவுநிலைகோண. 4. To be envious, displeaced, to take umbrage, to have antipathy, வெறுப்புற. 5. v. a. To break, to snap off, முறிக்க. (p.) கோடாதகோல், s. A right sceptre, just government. கோடாதமனம், s. A liberal mind, a benevolent mind. 2. A mind free from envy, guile, bias, &c. கோடாதமொழி, s. Unfailing promises. (p.) கோடாமை, s. Straight forwardness, unbiasedness, &c. கோட்டம், v. noun. Crookedness, bent, flexture, வளைவு. 2. Grudging, malice, envy, அழுக்காறு. 3. Partiality, swerving from rectitude, injustice, obliquity, கோ ணல். 4. [prov.] Lines, figures, diagrams made of rice-flour, &c., on the floor in religious ceremonies, மாக்கோலம்; (ex கோடு.) முகங்கோடுதல், v. noun. Making a wry face through discontent, dissatisfaction, umbrage, sorrow, &c. சொற்கோட்டமில்லதுசெப்பமொருதலையாவுட்கோ ட்டமின்மைபெறின். Freedom from obliquity of speech is rectitude, if there be a (corresponding) freedom from bias of mind. (குற.) முகக்கோட்டம், v. noun. A sad, dejected countenance. 2. A lizard chirping in such a direction in the house as to denote delay, obstruction, misfortune. See வரத்துப்பல்லி. தாமதம்பண்ண, inf. To delay, to detain, to prolong, to retard. தாமதவேளை, s.
