uṇṭi (p. 59) s. Food, sustenance, eatables, உணவு. 2. Boiled rice, சோறு. 3. The food of carnivorous animals, இரை. (நிகண்டு and திவாகரம்.) 4. (பாரதிதீ.) The food of birds and beasts in general, பற வைவிலங்கிவற்றினுணவு. Four kinds of eating are enumerated, viz.: 1. உண்டல், eating without mastication--as boiled rice, &c. 2. தின்றல், masticating, chewing--as meat, curries, &c. 3. நக்கல், licking--as honey, molasses, lapping. 4. பருகல், drinking, sucking--as a child. Sometimes a fifth is added, viz.: மென்றல், chewing--as spices, pungents, leaves, &c. kept in the mouth. உண்டிசுருங்குதல்பெண்டிர்க்கழகு. It is becoming in a woman to eat little. பேருண்டி, s. A principal meal-as dinner, &c., போசனம். 2. Eating to excess, gluttony, gormandizing, பெருந் தீன். சிற்றுண்டி, s. A light meal--as luncheon, tiffin, பலகாரம். 2. Eating sparingly, சிறுதீன். 3. tāppicai (p. 233) --தாப்பிசைப்பொருள் கோள், s. (a compound of தாம்பு and இசை.) One of the eight methods of constructing verse, by which a word in the middle is connected both with the end and beginning, from the idea of a swing--as உ ண்ணாமையுள்ளதுயிர்நிலை ஊனுண்ண அண்ணாத்தல் செய்யாதளறு, if not eaten, the bodies of some animals will retain their lives. The hell that swallows a flesh eater will never open its mouth to let him out. Here ஊன், is the connecting word, ஓர்பொருள்கோள். 53)

vẕi (p. 379) s. A way, a road, a path, நடவை. 2. A way in a moral sense, a course of conduct, நடை. 3. Manner, method, mode, வயணம். 4. A place, இடம். 5. Original cause, காரணம். 6. A lump of ball--as of butter, &c., திரட்சி. 7. Antiquity, oldness, பழமை. 8. Succession, a following--as வழி நாள், the following day. 9. A form of the seventh case or local ablative, ஏழனுருபு. --as நிழல்வழி, in the shade. 1. A son, as வழித்தோன்றல். 11. Usage, முறைமை. இந்தவழியெங்கேபோகிறது. Where does this road go? இதைமுடிக்கவழியறியேன். I do not know how to accomplish this. அவ்வழி. In that manner. அவன்வழிக்குவரமாட்டான். He will not come to a right course [of conduct] புத்திரர் வழிக்கெல்லாந் தொடர்ந்தேற்றியாய் வந்தபா வம். A bye-path, for custom-house officers, &c., to apprehend smugglers. வழிச்செலவு, s. Money for expenses on a journey. 2. (p.) A journey. வழிச்செல்வோன், appel. n. A traveller. வழிதப்பிப்போக, inf. To miss the road, to go astray. வழிதுறை, s. [lit. road and harbor.] Means to an end, auxiliary aid. வழிதுறைதெரியாமல்அலைகிறான். He wanders about not knowing the road, or harbor. வழிதுறையில்லாமற்பேசினான். He spoke without method. வழித்தடை, s. Impediments, hinderance in a way or journey. வழித்துணை, s. A fellow traveller. 2. A guide. வழித்தோன்றல், s. A son, மகன். (p.) வழிநாள், s. To-morrow, மறுநாள்--in Stoke's Cural. வழிநாளை. வழிநூல், s. A copy of an original work. See நூல். வழிபட, inf. To enter a way, மார்க்க மடைய. 2. To reverence, to perform ritual worship, வணங்க. 3. To follow a way; morally, to attend upon, be devoted to, இணங்கிநடக்க. வழிபடுத்த, inf. To cause one to enter a right road, மார்க்கத்திற்சேர. 2. [fig.] To put one into a good way. 3. To regulate, subdue; to cause to reverence, வணக்கஞ்செய்விக்க. வழிபயக்க, inf. To give without refusal, மறுப்பறுக்க. (p.) வழிபறிக்க, inf. [v. noun. வழிப்பறி.] To rob or plunder in the highways. வழிபாடு, v. noun. Reverence, worship; ஆராதனை. 2. Proper conduct, service, (Ell.); civility, courtesy, politeness, obedience, வணக்கம். 3. A way; a religious system, கோட்பாடு. 4. Usc, custom, habit, வழக்கம். வழிபார்க்க, inf. To watch an opportunity, as சமயம்பார்க்க. 2. To expect, to look forward to, எதிர்பார்க்க. வழிப்பயணம், s. A journey. வழிப்பிரிவு, s. A place where two or more ways meet. வழிப்போக, inf. [v. noun. வழிப்போக் கு.] To go forward, proceed. 2. To intermeddle with other's affairs. வழிப்போக்கிலேஅவனைக்காண்பாய். You will meet him on your way. வழிப்போக்கர், s. [pl.] Way-faring men, travellers. வழியடைக்க, inf. To impede, to obstruct the way. தடுக்க. வழியனுப்ப, inf.
