iḷkku (p. 56) கிறேன், இளக்கினேன், வே ன், இளக்க, v. a. To relax, slacken, relax a spring, &c., to loosen a rope, &c., to soften, mollify, cause another to yield, to work on one's feelings, to cause to relent, move the heart, appease, conciliate; to soften or moisten the throat, chest, &c.--as with liquids, fruits, conserves, இளகச்செய்ய. கையையிளக்கிவிட்டான். He gave liberally. வயிற்றையிளக்க, inf. To relax the bowels by cathartics. 2. To relieve the bowels by discharging their contents. 4)

To exact tribute, to levy taxes, திறைகொள்ள. இறைதிரிய, inf. To swerve from the rules of justice, அரசுநீதிதிறம்ப. இறைபயப்பது, appel. noun. [in rhetoric.] An indirect answer--as when one is asked if he has areca nut, he answers that he has betel, meaning that he has no areca. These modes of answering are of five kinds, விடைப்பொ ருளைத்தருவதாய்வருவது. See விடை. இறைபுரிய, inf. To hold the reins of government, அரசாட்சிசெய்ய. 2. To administer justice, நீதிசெலுத்த. இறைப்பிளவை--இறைக்கள்ளன், s. A kind of scirrhus, eruption in the finger joints or between the fingers at the roots, கையிறையில்வருமோர்புண். இறைமகள், s. A princess, a lady, இராசபுத்திரி. இறைமகன், s. A prince, a gentleman, இராசகுமாரன். 2. Skanda, முருகன். 3. Ganesa, விநாயகன். இறைமாட்சி, s. Royalty, regal dignity, royal excellencies, அரசரின்மாண்பு. இறைமாண்டார், s. Kings, those who possess regal dignity. இறைமை, s. Divinity, the divine nature, தெய்வத்தன்மை. 2. Superiority, eminence, excellence, greatness, தலைமை. 3. Royalty, dominion, government, அர சாட்சி. இறைமையாட்டி, s. A queen, அ ரசி. 2. A lady, a mistress, தலைவி. இறையனாரகப்பொருள்--இறைவ னாரகப்பொருள், s. A grammatical work from Siva, ஓரிலக்கணநூல். இறையிலி, s. One exempt from taxation, இறையிறாதவன். இறையிறுக்க, inf. To pay tribute, இறைகொடுக்க. இறையிறுக்காதவூர், s. A town free from tribute. இறையுணர்வு, s. The knowledge of God. இறையெண்ண, inf. To count by the joints or lines of the fingers, விர லிறையாலேகணக்குப்பார்க்க. இறைவன்--இறையோன், s. iruḷ (p. 51) --இருளு, கிறது--இருண் டது--இருளும்--இருள, v. n. To become dark --as clouds before rain, to darken, இருட்ட. 2. To grow dark--as at the close of the day; to become obscure--as a heavenly or luminous body, மங்க. 3. To become dark or dim in color, ஒளிமழுங்க. 4. To become obscure or dark--as when over-spread with clouds, இருப்பட. 5. To darken or be dark, as the mind, be in ignorance, illusion, doubt, &c., மருள. மனமிருண்டுபோயிற்று. The mind is obscured or is under the power of illusion. வானமிருண்டது. The heavens grew black. இருண்டகாடு, s. A dark forest. இருண்டசிவப்பு, s. Dark red, red mixed with black. இருண்டமனம், s. A mind that conceals dark and diabolical designs. இருட்சி, v. noun. Darkness, obscurity, cloudiness, gloom, becoming dark, இருள்கை. 2. Mental darkness, ignorance of spiritual things, மருளுகை. 5)

iruci (p. 50) s. [vul. இருளி.] A woman unfit for marriage, destitute of breasts, menstruation, &c., இருதுவாகுந்தன்மையில்லாப் பெண். 2. A demoness to whom sacrifices of rice, milk and blood are offered and eaten the same night, ஓர்பெண்பிசாசு. இருசியுடைமையிராத்தங்கலாகாது. iṟuku (p. 57) கிறது, இறுகினது, ம், இறுக, v. n. To become tight--as a bandage, knot, &c., to be strained, be close, hard, compact, &c.--as land dried by the sun, அழுந்த. 2. To grow thick in consistency, to coagulate, to be inspissated, be clotted, உறைய. 3. To congeal, become hard--as wax, metals, &c., to become dry--as mortar, clay, &c., கட்டியாக. 4. To become firm--as a loose tooth, பெலக்க. 5. To be close, rich, luxuriant--as growing corn, fruitful trees, &c., செறிய. எண்மண்டையிறுகிப்போயிற்று. My head feels day (needing oil and bathing). சளியிறுகிற்று. The phlegm (in the throat) is become hard. இறுகக்கட்ட, inf. To brace or fasten tight, close, compact, &c., அழுந் தக்கட்ட. இறுகத்தழுவ, inf. To hug, embrace closely, இறுகவணைக்க. இறுகப்பிசைய, inf. To knead hard, make close by kneading, அழுந்தப்பி சைய. இறுகப்பிடிக்க, inf. To hold fast, grasp tight, அழுந்தப்பிடிக்க. 2.
