To reduce, suppress, subject, restrain the senses, desires, &c., to mortify the body, curb the appetites, to pinch, stint or deny one's self, to suppress the passions, அடக்க. 2. A retreat, recess, place of refuge or shelter, a secluded or retired place, a hiding place, மறைவிடம். உம்முடைய ஒதுக்கிலே வந்தேன். I am come under your protection, I take refuge with you. ஒதுக்கிடம், s. A retreat, a shelter, a place of retirement, &c., புகலிடம். ஒதுக்குக்கடல், s. A harbor, கு டாக்கடல். ஒதுக்குக்குடில், s. Hut or hovel used as a dwelling. ஒதுக்குப்படல், s. A shed to screen cattle from the wind. ஒதுக்குப்பாடு, s. [prov.] Land enclosed by trees which, not being open to the wind, is liable to have the crops on it scorched and destroyed by the sun. See பாடு. ஒதுக்குப்புறம், s. [also impr. ஒதுப் புறம்.] The side of a building, hedge, tree, &c., as affording shelter from wind or rain. ஒதுக்குப்பொதுக்குப்பண்ண, inf. [prov.] To embezzle. 2. To conceal property by omitting to insert it in the inventory of a person sued for debt. ஒதுக்குவயல், s. A sequestered place in a paddy field behind the lodging hut for penning cattle, &c. நிலொதுக்கு, s. A shady place to resort to. 4)
