The நெய்தல் plant. மரங்குழைமண்டிப்போயிற்று. The tree abounds with thick foliage. குழைக்காடு, s. [prov.] The country-as distinguished from the city; a jungle, compared with more cultivated parts --as பட்டிக்காடு. குழைக்காட்டான், s. A rustic; a clown. குழைநாற்றம்--குழைவீச்சம், s. An unpleasant, leafy or grassy smell. குழைமறைவு, v. noun. Foliage, shrubbery, trees, &c., intercepting vision. 2. Sculking, &c., from creditors. குழைபிடிக்க, inf. [prov.] To obstruct an affair-from the practice of the Kandians, holding a bough before a person, as a sign of protestation, or of forbidding him to proceed. குழையடிக்க, inf. To recite incantations while shaking and drawing a handful of Margosa twigs over a sick or possessed person or animal, or one bitten by a snake. Mesmeric effects, similar to those occasioned by drawing the fingers in a particular way over the face of a patient, are sometimes produced by the above process, and ignorant people attribute them to the power of the incantations. 2. To vheedle; to use artful means in order to secure the interest of a person. 11)

An artificial bank of a paddy field, a dam, a causeway, செய் கரை. 5. The viscera--as the liver, &c., ஈரற்குலைமுதலியன. என்குலைபதைக்கின்றது. My heart goes pita-part; my heart palpitates. ஒருகுலைக்காய், s. A person of the same consanguinity; lit. a fruit of the same cluster. குலைகுலையாய், adv. In bunches. முந்திரிகைப்பழங் குலைகுலையாய்த் தூங்குகின்றது. The grapes hang in thick clusters. குலையோடே, adv. All at once, the whole without exception. குலைதள்ள--குலைபோட, inf. To form --as clusters, bunches, &c., of fruits or flowers. குலைதறி, v. noun. Cutting off a bunch of fruit at once. குலைநெறியற்றேங்காய், s. [prov.] Cocoanuts, pressed and deformed in the bunch. குலைநெருக்கம், v. noun. Being crowded --as a bunch or bunches of fruits, &c. குலைவிலை, s. [prov.] The sale of palmyra fruits while on the tree. திராட்சக்குலை, s. A bunch of grapes. குலைமுட்டி--குலையெரிவு, s. Heartburning. குலையாத்திரம், s. An unsatiable appetite; a carving for food. குலைநோய்--குலைவலி, s. Heart-burn, cardialgia. குலைபடுவன், s. [prov.] Tumors, ulcers, &c., in the liver, lungs, &c. நெஞ்சாங்குலை, s. [local.] The breast; thorax. 2. The pit of the stomach. குலைக்கல், s. Bezoar, கோரோசனம். 50)

A well walled with wicker-work. குடலையாகுதல், v. noun. [prov.] Being ready to shoot forth--as corn-ears. கறிக்குடலை, s. [prov.] A platted leaf or other covering for fish, carried in the hand. சோற்றுக்குடலை, s. A platted leaf-basket of boiled rice, for a journey, &c. 30)

To reverence, adore, worship, ஆராதிக்க. 4. To beg, solicit, crave, entreat, கெஞ்ச. கும்பிடப்போனதெய்வங்குறுக்கேவந்ததுபோல் நீவந் தாய். I met you, as if I had met the god whom I was going to worship. கும்பிடப்போனவன்தலையிலேகோயிலிடிந்துவிழுந்தா ற்போல. As if the temple had fallen on the head of him who repaired to it for worship; said of occurrences quite opposite to expectation. கும்பிடுகள்ளன், s. A hypocritical worshipper; a cunning person. கையெடுத்துக்கும்பிட, inf. To worship or make obeisance, by raising the joined hands. கோயில்கும்பிட, inf. To raise the hands in worship, at a temple, either in passing by, or as an attendant worshipper. கும்பிட்டகைக்குக்கொடுக்க, inf. To make a present to the bridegroom or bride, and sometimes to others, when they raise their hands in reverence to their superiors on the day of marriage&c., or to a girl on becoming marriage able. கும்பிடாதவனைக்கும்பிட, inf. To be obliged to serve or ask favors of a mean person. கும்பிடரி, s. [local.] A bundle of sheaves given to the chief of the village or to the temple. கும்பிடுகிளிஞ்சில், s. A species of cockle, a bivalve shell. கும்பிடுபூச்சி, s. [prov.] A class of insects bordering on the vegetable kingdom, whose feelers resemble hands raised in worship. கும்பிடு, v. noun.
