culāvu (p. 197) கிறேன், சுலாவினேன், வேன், சுலாவ, v. a. [improp. சிலாவு.] To make water move or whirl round--as in rinsing a vessel, &c., சுற்ற. (c.) சலாவியூற்ற--சுலாவிவார்க்க, inf. Artful scheming, dishonest cunning, தந்திரம். (c.) 7. A clue to a subject; a rule in science, சூத்திரம். சூட்சத்திலேமோட்சமா. Is it easy to gain heaven? சுண்ணாம்பிலேயிருக்கிறதுசூட்சம். The principal virtue is in the chunam; (to make the mouth red in chewing betel.) சூட்சத்தில்முடித்துக்கொண்டுவாரும். Have the business done with little cost. சூட்சக்காரன், s. A skilful, ingenious person. 2. A cunning, artful person. சூட்சபுத்தி, s. Great ingenuity, superior invention, genius. சூட்சமாகப்பண்ண, inf. To act, skilfully, display ingenuity, perform extraordinary deeds, to subtilize. 2. To practise stratagems, உபாயம்பண்ண. சூட்சமானவேலை, s. Nice, ingenious, skilful workmanship. சூட்சம்பண்ண, inf. To manage economically. நீசெவலைச்சூட்சம்பண்ணவேண்டும். You must curtail your expenses. சூட்சவழி, s. A short, skilful method in art or science. 2. A good, moral system, நன்னெறி. 3. A short road, சுருக் கவழி. See சுளுவானவழி. சூட்சக்கயிறு, s. The concealed strings of a puppet. சூட்சத்தைத்தட்ட--சூட்சந்தட்ட, inf. To give a tap to the working machine. சூட்சமறிய, inf. To get a clue to a subject, &c. சூட்சமானசெலவு, s. Economical expense. (c.) சூட்சம்போட, inf. To make a contrivance for the equilibrium of a kite in the air. சூட்சம்வைக்க, inf. To make some contrivance in mechanical adjustments, &c. சூட்சமாய்ப்பிழைக்க, inf. To be frugal in domestic expenditure. 2. To live at small expense. (c.) சூட்சமாயிருக்க, inf. cuẕi (p. 198) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க,v. a. To curl, incurve, curve the end of a letter--as ே, &c., சுழியச்செய்ய, 2. To form whirlpools, eddies, &c., as water, நீர்முதலி யனசுழிக்க. 3. To curtail expenses, provide one's self with the strictest economy, செ லவுசுருக்க. 4. To conceal, to hide one's self, மறைக்க, (c.) உள்ளதைக் கொண்டுதான் சுழிக்கவேணும். we ought to provide for our expenses according to our income. எங்கேயோசுழித்துப்போட்டான். cuṇṭu (p. 193) கிறது, சுண்டினது, ம், சுண்ட, v. n. To dry up as in boiling, stewing, simmering, &c., to be evaporated by heat, கறிமுதலியனசுண்ட. 2. To be dried, lessened, as the blood of an emaciated person, இரத்தஞ்சு ண்ட. 3. To pinch internally, gripe throb, வயிறுசுண்ட. 4. To impinge--as a strained line, or bow-string in reaction, கயிறுசுண்ட. 5. To be tight, as a string or as a muscle in cramp, &c., நரம்புமுதலியனஇழுக்க. (c.) சுண்டக்கட்ட, inf. [prov. fig.] To strain and fasten, as a rope tied to posts, அழுத்திக்கட்ட. சுண்டக்காய, inf. To boil and dry away. சுண்டக்காய்ச்ச, inf. To boil so as to reduce or exhaust the liquor. சுண்டப்பிடிக்க, inf. [prov.] To pinch too closely in measuring cloth. &c. so as to give scanty measure; to gripe. 2. To be niggardly in expenditure. சுண்டிப்போக, inf. To be reduced by evaporation. 2. To wither, to be shrunk--as the face, வெட்கிப்போக. சுண்டவைக்க, inf. To let the curry or porridge, &c., become dry and hard, when boiling. அவனைச்சுண்டவுலர்த்திப்போட்டார்கள். They have reduced and weakened him, (by diet, bleeding, &c.) அவன்முகஞ்சுண்டிப்போயிற்று.
