cūtakam (p. 200) s. Birth, delivery, பிறப்பு. 2. (c.) Uncleanness, ceremonial impurity of a woman from catamenia, மகளீர்தொடக்கு. W. p. 94. SOOTAKA. 3. Ceremonial impurity of a person from the death of a relative, rendering him incompetent to perform certain rites; that from the father's side being greater, the mother's less, மரணசூதகம். 4. Ceremonial uncleanness in general, as of a person, house, clothes, &c., from a death, from menstruation, childbirth, miscarriage, touching a corpse or carcass; from shaving; contact of the finger, &c., with the spittle or any part of the mouth; touching one of low caste, or bathing in a tank of his village; or weeping, lamenting, &c., for a deceased acquaintance, தீட்டு. 5. Oldness, antiquity, பழமை.--Note. According to some, the causes of ceremonial impurity are five, viz.: 1. சனனாசூசம், or சாதகாசூசம், childbirth. 2. மரணாசூசம், or மிருதாசூசம், death. 3. சண்டாளநீரிற்றோய்தல், bathing in the waters used by low castes. 4. சுராபானம்பண்ணல், drinking toddy or ardent spirits. 5. பொய்கூறல், lying. The last seems but little regarded, also the fourth by many. Instead of the last three, the following are named by some; இருது சூதகம், menstruation. உச்சிட்டசூதகம், being spitten upon. சண்டாளபரிசசூதகம், contact with one of low caste. சூதகக்காரன், s. One ceremonially impure. சூதகக்காரி--சூதகஸ்திரி, s. A woman ceremonially unclean, by catamenia, or otherwise. சூதகக்கிராணி, s. A disease attending the childbirth, from wind or flatulency. சூதகங்கழிக்க, inf. To remove impurity by the prescribed means. சூதகங்காக்க, inf. To keep from society, abstain from venery, from shaving. &c., after a death, till the performance of the funeral rites. சூதகசன்னி, s. A disease of females from sexual intercourse during menstruation. See சன்னி. சூதகத்துக்குடையவர்கள், appel. n. Heirs of one deceased. சூதகமலடு, s. One of the six forms of barrenness. See மலடு. சூதகமாக, inf. To have the monthly course as a woman. (c.) சூதகமுட்டு, s. The fourteenth phase of the moon in her increase--as opposed to பகுளம். சுத்தசத்தியம், s. The simple truth, genuineness, authenticity. சுத்தசலம், s. Clean or pure water. சுத்தசூனியம், s. Absolute nothingness, nonentity, முழுப்பாழ். (c.) 2. Atheism. நிரீச்சுரம். சுத்த சூனியமாக்கிப்போட்டான். He has utterly destroyed the family. சுத்தசைதன்னியம், s. Pure spirit, pure intellect--as distinct from matter. (p.) சுத்தசைவம், s. The highest, or the sixteenth degree of Saivism. See சைவம். சுத்தச்சிவப்பு, s. Pure red, scarlet. (c.) சுத்தஞானம், s. Pure, spiritual knowledge; pure ஞானம் unmixed with works. (p.) சுத்ததத்துவம், s. One of the five properties of Siva. See சிவதத்துவம். சுத்ததாளம், s. A superior kind of தா ளம். சுத்ததினம், s. The exact number of days elapsed in an epoch, or in any fixed portion of time --considered as an element for finding the longitude, &c., of the sun, moon, planets, &c. சுத்தத்தோடிருக்க, inf. The correct or genuine reading. சுத்தபோசனம், s. Sacred food--commonly used in reference to offerings made in the temples. சுத்தபௌரணை, s. The oppositions of the sun and moon. சுத்தபுடம், s. [in astron.] The real situation (longitude) of a planet, &c., as differing from its mean place. சுத்தப்பட, inf. To be cleaned. சுத்தப்படச்செய்ய, inf. To make a thing neatly. 2. [in carpentry.] To plane the wood smoothly. சுத்தப்பிரதி, s. A fair copy. (c.) சுத்தபூமி, s. Cleared land. (p.) சுத்தப்படுத்த--சுத்தம்பண்ண, inf. To cleanse, to clear away, make clean. சுத்தப்பிழை, s. Complete error. (c.) சுத்தப்பொய், s. A downright lie. (c.) சுத்தமத்தளம், s. A superior kind of மத்தளம். சுத்தமனம், s. A frank, sincere mind, கபடமின்மை. 2. A pure mind. சுத்தமாயை, s. Pure spiritual Maya. See மாயை. சுத்தமாய், adv. Wholly, entirely, utterly, absolutely. 2. At all, in the least. (c.) இன்றைக்கெனக்குச்சுத்தமாச்சாப்பாட்டுக்கில்லை. I am, to day, entirely destitute of food. சுத்தமார்க்கம், s. Pure conduct, spotless morality. 2. Sincere piety. 3. The true system of religion. சுத்தம்பண்ண, inf. Cleanness of hands or freedom from bribery. (c.) மெய்ச்சுத்தம், s. Cleanliness of body. (c.) மனச்சுத்தம், s. Mental purity. (c.) வாய்ச்சுத்தம், s. Veracity, or cleanness of mouth.
