cōṟu (p. 212) s. Boiled rice, சாதம். 2. Apex of the wild pine-apple resembling boiled rice; also a white spongy substance found in the palmyra, wild al&oe; &c, கற்றாழை முதலியவற்றின்சோறு. (c.) 3. The second lunar asterism. See பாணி. சோறுங்கூறையும்கொடுக்க. To give food and raiment. சோற்றாலெடுத்தசுவர். A wall of rice, food, &c., i. e. the body. வயிற்றுச்சோற்றுக்குவேலைசெய்ய. To serve for daily bread. (Low.) இன்றைக்குச்சோற்றுக்கில்லை. Nothing to eat. சோற்றிறக்கமில்லை. The rice will not go down; i. e. he cannot eat. சோறாக்க--சோறுசமைக்க, inf. to boil rice. சோறிட, s. To set rice before one. 2. To board, feed. சோறுகொடுப்பிக்க, inf. To cause a bride to present boiled rice to the bridegroom, as an essential part of the marriage ceremony among some castes. சோறுகொல்லி, appel. n. A glutton, பெருந்தீனிக்காரன். 2. Green vitriol, அன்ன பேதி. சோறுபடைக்க--சோறுபோட, inf. To set rice on plates, leaves, &c., for eating. (c.) சோறுபொங்க, inf. To cook rice. 2. To boil over, bubble up. சோறுபொலிய, inf. [prov.] To swell or enlarge, as rice in boiling. சோறுவடிக்க, inf. To strain off rice. சோறூட்டல், v. noun. The ceremony of first feeding with rice, performed on an auspicious day. See அன்னப்பிராசனம். சோறூற, inf. [prov.] To be too much soaked, as rice in boiling over insufficient fire. சோற்றகப்பை, s. Ladle for rice, in distinction to that for curry. (c.) சோற்றலகு, s. A wicker strainer for boiled rice. (R.) சோற்றாலாத்தி, s. Boiled rice waved before a person, an idol, a married couple, a great person, &c., to remove the supposed fascination of unlucky eyes. (c.) சோற்றுக்கடன்--சோற்றுதவி, s. Duty or obligation to one for support. சோற்றுக்கத்தளை, s. A kind of fish. See கத்தலை. சோற்றுக்களை, s. Languor after eating. 2. Fainting through want of food. சோற்றுக்கற்றாழை, s. See தாழை. சோற்றுக்காரி, s. A woman who prepares food for one who pays her expenses. (c.) சோற்றுக்குடலை, s. [prov.] See குடலை. சோற்றுக்குவீங்கி, appel. n. A man greedy of food, who will eat any where. சோற்றுக்கூடை, s. A large basket in which rice is served up to a company. சோற்றுக்கை, s. The right hand as used in eating rice, &c.--oppos. to பீச்சைக் கை. (c.) சோற்றுக்கொடை, s. Giving boiled rice as alms to religious mendicants, being the first kind of bounty. சோற்றுச்சட்டி, s. An earthen pan for cooling boiled rice. சோற்றுத்துருத்தி, s. The body; (lit.) a leather bag of rice. (p.) 137)
