tēṉ (p. 260) s. Honey, மது. (c.) 2. Toddy, கள். 3. Fragrance, odor, வாசனை. 4. A beetle, வண்டு. 5. Female bee, பெண்வண்டு. --Note. There are some varieties of honey; குறிஞ்சித்தேன், wild honey from the hills; கொசுத்தேன், பொந்துத்தேன், சிறுதேன், honey of a very small bee; பெருந்தேன், good honey from the hills produced by large bees; கொம்புத்தேன், honey from a bunch of a tree in a comb; செந்தேன், red honey of high flavor. தேன்கூட்டிலேகல்லைவிட்டெறியலாமா. Would one stone a bee's nest? தேனழித்தோர்கையைநக்காரோ. Will not those who handle honey lick their fingers? தேனும்பாலும்போலே. United as closely and sweetly as honey and milk. தேனிறால், s. [vul. தேனிறாட்டு.] Honeycomb, தேன்கூடு. தேனீ, s. A bee, தேன்கூட்டுமீ. (c.) தேனூற, inf. To flow with honey, to be melifluous. 2. To be pleasant, gratifying. தேனூறுமலர். The honey-forming flower. தேனெறும்பு, s. The largest kind of emment, fond of sweets, பெரியஎறும்பு. தேனொழுகல், v. noun. Drops of honey. தென்கடல், s. One of the seven seas, the sea of honey, ஓர்கடல். தேன்கதலி, s. A sweet kind of plantain, ஓர்வாழை. தேன்குழல்--தேன்குழாய்--தேங்குழல், s. A kind of pastry fried in ghee, fritters, ஓர்பண்ணிகாரம். தேன்குழலுரல், s. A mould for making this pastry. தேன்குழற்கம்பி, s. A piece of pastry. தேன்கூடு, s. A bee's nest or hive, தே னீக்கூட்டம். 2. Cells in a bee's nest. தேன்கூட்டினுட்குழி. 3. Honey-comb, தேனி றால். தேன்தோடை-தேன்றோடை, s. [prov.] The orange tree or fruit. See தோடை. தேன்பூச்சி, s. As தேனீ. (R.) தேன்வதை, s. [prov.] Honey-comb, தேனிறால்.

tēṭṭu (p. 258) --தேட்டம்--தேட்டை, v. noun. Seeking, search, appetence, pursuit, ஆராய்வு. 2. (c.) Acquisition, accumulation, சம்பாத்தியம். 3. Supporting, cherishing, &c., பராமரிப்பு; [ex தேடு, v.] தேட்டாண்மை, s. (com. தேட்டாமை.) Great industry, aptness at acquiring, thriftiness, பொருள்தேடும்முயற்சி. தேட்டாளன், s. An industrious, thriving person, சம்பாத்தியக்காரன், (c.) 15)

tēṭīrvāḷplm (p. 258) s. [in Hindu astron.] The quotient of any number divided by 248, or the Vakyam, தேடீர்வாள். 8)

tēyvāngku (p. 259) s. (com. தேவாங்கு.) The sloth, a slow moving animal. தேவாங்குப்பிள்ளைபிறந்தது. An ill-shaped child is born. தின்கிறதைத்தின்றுந்தேவாங்குபோலிருக்கிறான்.... Though he eats, he is like (a lean) sloth. தேவாங்குக்கண், s. Staring eyes similar to those of the sloth. தேவாங்குப்பித்து, s. The bile of the sloth, used in witchcraft. தேவாங்குமை, s. Bile of the sloth, and other things made into a pastelike consistence. தேவாங்குவித்தை, s. Magic performed with preparations of different limbs of the sloth. 4)

tēvatattaṉ (p. 259) s. The younger brother of Bud'dha, புத்தன்றம்பி. 2. One of the ten vital airs, that which is exhaled in yawning, தசவாயுவிலொன்று. 3. The air necessary for removing weariness and producing perspirtion. (See வாய்வு.) --Note. In வேதாந்தசூடாமணி it is given as that which produces smiling and speaking. 21) *

tēṟṟrvu (p. 260) v. noun. Relief from sorrow of fear; consolation,comfort, solace, தெ ளிவு, (c.) தேற்றரவாளவன்--தேற்றரவாளி, s. A comforter, consoler, encourager, திடப் படுத்துவோன். 2. [in Christ. usage.] The Holy Spirit. தேற்றரவுசொல்ல, inf. To comfort, to cheer. 8)

tēymāṉm (p. 259) s. Waste produced by rubbing, தேய்வு. 2. The touch of gold, on the stone, or the quantity lost by rubbing, பொன்னுரைதேய்மானம். 3. Frugality, parsimony, சிக்கனம், (c.) தேய்மானக்காரன், s. A mean penurious person, fond of living at the cost of others, கையிறுக்கக்காரன். 3)
