To be contracted, as a word, to be omited, as a letter, or letters to the beginning or end of a word, சுருங்க. தொகப்படுவது, appel. n. Ellipsis or contraction. தொகல், v. noun. Collection, assemblage, joining, கூடல். தொகாநிலை--தொகாநிலைத்தொடர், s. [in gram.] The connexion of a word with its பயனிலை, or that with which it makes sense, without ellipsis, contraction, &c., வினை உருபுமுதலியவிரிந்துநிற்றல்--It embraces nine varieties; 1. முற்று. finite verbs with their nominatives, as வந் தான்சாத்தன். Sattan came. 2. பெயரெச்சம், relative participle, and its noun, as வந்தசாத்தன், Sattan who came. 3. வினை யெச்சம், verbal participle with their finite verb, &c., as வந்துபோனான், he came and returned. 4. எழுவாய், the nominative and its verb, as சாத்தன்வந்தான்.
