tōppukkṇṭm (p. 264) s. A mode of punishment in schools, in which the boy taking hold of his ears transversely, squats down and rises again a number of times, ஓர்தண்டனை. 2. A mode of self imposed penance, as a tribute to Ganesa for subduing கசமுகன், an Asura, ஓர்வணக்கம். தோப்புக்கண்டம்போட, inf. To punish one's self by taking hold of each ear by the opposite hand, and then sitting down and rising. 34)

tōl (p. 264) தோற்கிறேன், தோற்றேன், தோற் பேன், தோற்க, v. n. (with the dative.) To failing rivalry, contest, gemes, &c., to be the inferior, தோற்படைய. 2. To be defeated, discomfited, vanquished, அபசயப்பட. 3. To fall in comparison. தாழ. 4. To yeild, to finich, to be content to lose, to give away voluntarily, to forbear revenging an affront, enforcing a right, &c. பொறு க்க. 5. To be confuted, refuted, &c., நியா யத்தில்தோற்க. 6. v. a. (fig.) To lose a dear friend in war, or by any untimely death, இழக்க. 7. To lose property in a game, &c. (c.) தோற்கிறவன்சுமக்கிறதுவழக்கம். It is the custom for the one defeated in play to carry the victor. எனக்குத்தோற்றுப்போனான். He yielded to me, he was defeated. பணத்தைத்தோற்றுவிட்டான். He has squandred his money. தோலாநாவினர், s. (plu.) Eloquent persons, சாதுரியர். (p.) தோலாவழக்கு, s. As தோராவழக்கு. தோற்கடிக்க, inf. [prop. தோற்க அடிக்க.] To defeat, to discomfit. 2. To overcome in a game, &c., 3. To surpass. தோற்கப்பண்ண, inf.
