Drawing water, &c., மொள்ளல்; or baling, நொள்கல். முகத்தலளவு, s. measurement of capacity, மொண்டளக்குமளவு. முகத்தலளவையாகுபெயர், s. Metonymy, by which a measure of capacity--as a gallon--is put for the thing measured. See ஆகுபெயர். ஆழவமுக்கிமுகப்பினும், ஆழ்கடலில் நாழிமுகவாது நானாழி. [prov.] An insect that consumes wood, a kind of white ant, ஓர்கறையான். முள்ளங்கத்தரி--முள்ளாங்கத்தரி, s. A species of brinjal plant, Solanum insanum. முள்ளங்கி, s. A radish, Raphanus sativus. முள்ளங்கிக்கிழங்கு, s. Its root used for curry. முள்ளங்கிழங்கு, s. A hard and inferior kind of yam. முள்ளஞ்சங்கு, s. A prickly shell, a conch armed with spines. முள்ளந்தண்டு--முள்ளெலும்பு, s. The spine, the back-bone. முள்ளம்பன்றி--முட்பன்றி, s. [poet. முண்மா.] Porcupine. முள்ளி, s. Any thorny shrub, முட் செடிப்பொது. 2. The Indian night shade, Solanum Indicum; L. The root is used as a decoction in dysuria and Ischuria, ஓர்பூண்டு. --Note. Of முள்ளி are அடுக்குமுள்ளி, a thorn-bush, Indian Hyssop; ஆற்று முள்ளி, a thorny plant growing near rivers; கழுதைமுள்ளி, a thorn bush, Acanthus ilicifolius; செம்முள்ளி, a thorny plant, Barleria; நீர்முள்ளி, another thorny plant; வறள்முள்ளி, a medicinal thorn-bush. முள்ளிக்கீரை--முள்ளுக்கீரை, s. A species of prickly greens. See கீரை. முள்ளிலவு, s. A tree, Bombax heptaphyllum. முள்ளிழைப்புளி, s. A sort of plane. முள்ளுக்கரப்பன், s. A tingling kind or eruption with pimples. முள்ளுடைமூலம், s. Roots having spikes. (p.) முள்ளுத்தைத்தல், v. noun. Running a thorn into the foot. முள்ளுநாயகம், s. A plant whose leaves are used for extracting thorns. முள்ளுப்பலா--முட்பலா, s. A prickly jack-fruit. To cover, hide, screen, obscure, shroud, veil; to filled up, covered, levelled, as--new made furrows by rain, நிரவ; [from. Sa. Muda, to cover.] வாயைமூடு. Hold your tongue. அஞ்ஞானமெங்குமூடியிருக்கிறது. Spiritual ignorance extends everywhere. மூடினமுத்துமூன்றுலோகம்பெறும்மூடாததுமுக்காற் காசும்பெறாது. A pearl kept covered [concealed] is worth three worlds, one exposed is not worth three fourths of a cash; said of the secrets in science. [prov.] மூடி, appel. n. (lit.) That which covers; a cover, lid, top, மூடுகருவி. 2. Half a cocoa-nut, as தேங்காய்மூடி. மூடிக்கொள்ளுதல், v. noun. Covering one's self. 2. [fig.] Being long covered, as with darkness, &c. மூடிவைத்தல்.
