Assortment, இனமடைப்பு. 6. Article, item, particulars of an account, &c., எண்ணினுறுப்பு. (c.) 7. [in gram.] Omission of a particle in the combination of words, as தொட்டனைத்து, for தொட்டஅனைத்து, as far as day, தொகுத்தல் விகாரம். 8. Elliptical combination of words, as பொன்கொணர்ந்தான், for பொன்னைக்கொணர்ந் தான், he brought the gold. (See தொகைநிலை.) 9. The main division of a treaties, as distinguished from வகை or விரி, அறுவகைச் சூத்திரத்தொன்று. தொகைப்பிசகிப்போயிற்று. The calculation is erroneous. தொகைகட்ட, inf. To finish, to conclude, to bring to an end. 2. To deliver up, to make over, as money, &c., to make a final payment. 3. To sum up, to make a total, to make out the total, to cast up. தொகைகாட்ட, inf. To give a written account. 2. To state a particular number or sum. 3. To make a sum appear large, to magnify. 4. v. n. To appear large, as an amount. தொகைகூட்ட, inf. To add up. தொகைக்காரன், s. A man of considerable property, தனவான், (c.) தொகைச்சூத்திரம், s. One of the six kinds of rules for composition. See சூத்தி ரம். தொகைதைக்க, inf. To make out the grand total of an account. See தை, v. தொகைநிலை, s. A summary, contraction, ellipsis, &c., சுருங்கிநிற்கை. 2. [in gram.] The connection of a word with the பயனிலை by omitting a particle, வேற்று மையுருபுமுதலியதொக்குநிற்றல்.--It embrasces six varieties; 1. வேற்றுமைத்தொகை, the omission of the sign or from of the case, as பொன்கொடுத்தான், for பொன்னைக்கொடுத் தான். 2. வினைத்தொகை, a verb without the sign of the tense, combined with a noun, as கொல்புலி for கொன்றபுலி, கொல்கின்றபுலி, கொல்லும்புலி. 3. பண்புத்தொகை, omission of the adjective sign ஆகிய or ஆய in combining the qualifying epithet with the noun, as கருங்குவளை for கருமையாகியகுவளை, or two nouns in apposition, as ஆதிபக வன். 4. உவமைத்தொகை, the combination of two words with the omission of the sign of comparison, as பான்மொழி for பால் போலுமொழி. 5. உம்மைத்தொகை, omission of the particle உம், as கபிலபாணர் for கபிலனு ம்பாணனும்; also இராப்பகல் for இராவும், பகலும். --Note. In this combination. there is commonly no reduplication. 6. அன்மொ ழித்தொகை, a metonomy or omission of a word, commonly the name of a person, immediately after any of the five preceeding ellipses, as பொற்றொடி. for பொற் றொடியையுடையாள், the golden braceletdamsel. தொகைநிலைச்செய்யுள், s. A poem consisting of a fixed, even number of verses, ஓர்பிரபந்தம். தொகைநிலைத்தொடர்மொழி, s. As உவ மைத்தொகை. (R.) தொகைநிலையுருவகம், s. [in rheto.] A perfect metaphor, ஓரலங்காரம். தொகைபடுவது, appel. n. Contraction of words, as தொகப்படுவது. தொகைபார்க்க, inf. To sum of cast up the amount. (c.) தொகைபூட்ட, inf. [prov.] To balance accounts, to strike a balance, கணக்குச்சரிக் கட்ட. 2. As தொகைதைக்க. தொகைப்படுத்த--தொகையாக்க, inf. To make up an even number. 2. To make a large sum. 3. To sum up; to reduce to heads. தொகைப்பிசகு--தொகைமோசம், s. An error in a reckoning. 2. (fig.) A mistake, a blunder. தொகைப்பொருள், s. Recapitulation; peroration, விரித்தபொருளின்அடக்கம். தொகைமோசம், s. See தொகைபிசகு. தொகையகராதி, s. One of the four divisions of சதுரகராதி, which see. தொகையுருவகம், s. As பண்புத்தொ கை. (R.) தொகையுவமம், s. Contraction of metaphor. See உவமைத்தொகை. தொகையேற்ற, inf. To make a large sum, by the addition of many small items, commonly as a debt. 2. As தொ கைகூட்ட. (c.) தொகையேறுதல், v. noun. Swelling in a large sum by the addition of many items. 2. Forming a total, an amount. தொகைவகை, s. Head and divisions of a subject. தொகைவகைவிரி, s. Heads of a subject, its general divisions, and discussion, &c., தொகைவிரி, s.
