tāẕcci (p. 235) s. Meanness, baseness, vileness, கீழ்மை. 2. Inferiority, disparagement, subordination, தாழ்வு. 3. Lowliness, humbleness, submissiveness, தாழ்மை. 4. Deficiency, want, scarcity; arrears, குறைவு. 5. Deterioration, degradation, loss; decay of wealth, power, fame, &c., கேடு. 6. Dishonor, discredit, disgrace, இகழ்ச்சி. 7. Incompetency, inadequacy, ஏலாமை. 8. Failure in competition or in an enterprize, &c., தவறு. (c.) அதைத்தொட்டுத்தாழ்ச்சியில்லை. There is no impedimen from that. இதற்கதுதாழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கிறது. That is inferior to this. ஒன்றுதாழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கிறது. There is something wanting, it is defective in one respect. தாழ்ச்சிப்பட, s. To prove inferior, to be incompetent, to be in disgrace. சங்கைத்தாழ்ச்சி--மானத்தாழ்ச்சி, s. Dishonor, discredit, disgrace. மழைத்தாழ்ச்சி, s. Want of rain, little rain. 17)

tilatam (p. 241) s. (a change of திலகம்.) The sectarian spot on the forehead, பொட்டு. 2. An ornament for the forehead, நெற் றித்திலகம். 3. Another forehead-jewel, கட்டி. (c.) தொட்டுத்திலதம்போட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள். They greatly admired it, and every one got a little. திலதமிட--திலதம்போட, inf. To put a spot on the forehead. 21) *

teṟi (p. 257) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. [prov.] To flirt off, shoot a particle with the finger and thumb, to bespatter, உந்த. 2. To snap a bow-string, or fiddle-string, with the finger and thumb to try its lightness, to strike the springs of a lute with the fingers, வீணைநரம்புதெறிக்க. 3. To discharge arrows or balls with a bow, to shoot, எய்ய, (c.) எள்ளளவாகிலும்கிள்ளித்தெறிக்கவுமில்லைதொட்டுத் தெறிக்கவுமில்லை. He gives nothing in charity. 24)

toṭu (p. 262) கிறேன், தொட்டேன், வேன், தொட, v. a. To touch, to come in contact with, to feel, to perceive by thr touch, பரிசிக்க. 2. To handle, to take hold of, to finger, to use, பிடிக்க. 3. To be connected or united, to be joined, &c., பொருத்த. 4. To begin, தொடங்க. (c.) 5. To discharge an arrow or other missile weapon. அம்பெய்ய. 6. To eat, உண்ண. 7. To dig, to scoop out, to excavate, தோண்ட. 8. To put on shoes or a garment, தரிக்க. தொட்டாற்றோழன்விட்டால்மாற்றான். A friend if persevered, in and a if neglected; spoken of an art. தொடப்படாது. I cannot give you; (lit.) Cannot touch. தொட்டுக்கண்ணிலேயொற்றிக்கொள்ள......To touch the feet of an idol or great person and then apply the fingers, to the eyes; as if saying, 'I worship your feet.' 2. [in contempet.] To be too obsequious, or aubmissive. ஆகாசத்தைத் தொட்டுக்கொண்டுநிற்கிறது. The top if trees, &c., touches the sky. தோஷந்தொட்டுநிற்கிறது. Fatal symptoms have appeared (as in cholera, &c., before death). நிலந்தொட்டுவைத்தார்கள். They rubbed the sand in which they had written (on their forehead, eyes, and breast) --Note. This is done in homage to Ganesa or Sarasvati. சனியன் தொட்டுக்கொண்டது. Seturn has begun to exert his malign influence. செருப்புத்தொட்டுக்கொண்டுநடக்க, inf. To walk with sandals. தொடுகழல், s.
