அசந்தோடம்
acantōṭam (p. 5) --அசந்தோஷம், s. [priv. அ et சந்தோஷம்.] Displeasure, dissatisfaction, regret, வெறுப்பு. 73) *
இராகம்
irākam (p. 50) s. Love, desire, affection, passion--as a power of the soul in operation while in connection with matter, ஆசை. 2. Connubial love, sexual desire, மோகம். 3. Color, tint, dye, நிறம். 4. Redness, சிவப்பு. (p.) 5. A tune or musical mode, இன்னிசை. Wils. p. 699. RAGA. Of this mode, four classes are given, இராகத்தகுதி, ச. viz.: I. இடம், tunes appropriate to different districts of country--as maritime, agricultural and mountainous, அவ்வத்திணை க்குரியவிராகம். Of these there are five, viz.: 1. குறிஞ்சி. 2. பஞ்சுரம். 3. சாதாரி. 4. மருதம். 5. செவ்வழி. II. செய்யுள், tunes applicable to different kinds of poetry--as to வெண் பா, சங்கராபரணம்; to அகவல், தோடி; to கலிப்பா, பந்துவராளி; to கலித்துறை, பைரவி. III. குணம், tunes suited to peculiar occasions--as நாட்டை, martial music; காம்போதி, சாவேரி, and தன்னியாசி, dancing tunes, or tunes for festive occasions; ஆகரி, கண்டாரவம், நீலாம்புரி, பியாகடம் and புன்னாகவராளி, for condolence. IV. காலம், tunes adapted to seasons--as to the spring, அசாவேரி, &c.; the morning, இந்தோளம், இராமகலி, &c.; noon, சாரங்கம், தே சாட்சரி, &c.; evening, கன்னடம், கலியாணி; night, ஆகரி. Others are applicable to all times. There are thirty-two tunes mentioned; viz.: 1. பைரவி. 2. தேவக்கிரியை. 3. மேகவிரஞ்சி. 4. குறிஞ்சி. 5. பூபாளம். 6. வேளா வளி. 7. மலகரி. 8. பௌளி. 9. சீராகம். 1. இந்தோளம். 11. பல்லதி. 12. சாவேரி. 13. பட மஞ்சரி. 14. தேசி. 15. இலலிதை. 16. தோடி. 17. வசந்தம். 18. இராமக்கிரியை. 19. வராளி. 2. கைசிகம். 21. மாளவி. 22. நாராயணி. 23. குண்டக்கிரியை. 24. கூர்ச்சரி. 25. பங்காளம். 26. தன்னியாசி. 27. காம்போதி. 28. கௌளி. 29. நாட்டை 3. தேசாட்சரி. 31. காந்தாரி. 32. சா ரங்கம். Of these, 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, are male tunes, and the three following each of them respectively are their wives. Of these, 1-5 are appropriated to Brahmans; 9-13 to kings; 17-21 to merchants; 25-29 to tradesmen and laborers. The deity of the 1st is ஈசன்; of the 2d திருமால்; of the 3d சரச்சுவதி; of the 4th இலக்குமி; of the 5th சூரியன்; of the 6th நாரதன்; of the 7th விநாயகன்; and of the 8th தும்புரு வன்--the wives being joined with each. இராகங்கலக்க--இராகங்கலைய, inf. To run into another tune. இராகத்தின்படிபாட, inf. To sing agreeably to the tune. இராகந்தப்ப, inf. To fall out of tune. இராகபரிட்சைக்காரன், s. One skilled in music. இராகப்பயிற்சி, s. The practice of vocal or instrumental music, the knowledge of melody or music in general, இசைபயில்கை. இராகமெடுக்க, inf. To pitch a tune, இராகமாலாபிக்க. இராகம்பாட, inf. To sing. இராகவிராகம், s. cantōṣam (p. 160) --சந்தோடம், s. Pleasure, satisfaction, gratification, பூரிப்பு. 2. Cheerfulness, joy, delight, happiness, gladness, exhilaration, மகிழ்ச்சி. W. p. 888. SANTO'SHA. 3. Pease, reconciliation; terms of concord, consent, approval, approbation, பிரியம். (c.) சந்தோஷமயக்கமாயிருக்கிறான். He is intoxicated with joy. சந்தோஷங்கொள்ள--சந்தோஷப்பட, inf. To be pleased, gratified, delighted, glad. 2. To be satisfied. 3. To rejoice, joy. 4. To approve. சந்தோஷப்படுத்த--சந்தோஷம்பண்ண, inf. To please, satisfy, gladden. 2. To induce consent, prevail on. 3. [loc.] To reward or give a reward. சந்தோஷகரம், s. Delightfulness, felicity; [ex கரம், making.] (p.) சந்தோஷங்கொண்டாட, inf. To amuse one's self. சந்தோஷம்பண்ணிக்கொள்ள, inf. To take pleasure in, to take recreation. ஆனந்தசந்தோஷம், s. Excessive joy, repture, ecstacy; [ex ஆனந்தம், et சந்தோ ஷம், both meaning joy.] மனச்சந்தோஷம், s. Mental joy, happiness, delight. 7) *

cingkam (p. 181) s. A lion. 2. Leo of the Zodiac, சிங்கவிராசி. 3. (fig.) A great, pre-eminent person, &c., உயர்ந்தோன். (c.) W. p. 923. SIMHA. 4. [prov.] The extent of seven lengths, &c., of the stick in the game of கிட்டிபுள்ளு, measured from the place where the புள்ளு falls to the goal, விளையாட்டிலோர ளவு. 5. (R.) A kind of natural arsenic, சர காண்டபாஷாணம். சிங்கக்குட்டி--சிங்கசாபம்--பாலசிங்கம், s. A young line. 2. (fig.) A heroic youth. சிங்கத்தோலுடையோன், s. Vîrabadra, as wearing a lion's skin, வீரபத்திரன். சிங்கநாதம், s. The lion's roar, சிங்கத் தொனி. 2. A warrior's roar, war-hoop, வெற்றியாளர் செய்யுந்தொனி. 3. A kind of musical instrument, ஓர்வாச்சியம். (p.) சிங்கநோக்கு, s. One of the four positions of a rule in a literary work, being both retrospective and prospective--as the lion looks behind and before when it walks, இலக்கணச்சூத்திரநிலை. (நன்.) சிங்கவாகினி, s. A name of Parvati, பார்வதி. 2. Durga, as the lion mounted, துர்க்கை. சிங்கமுகக்காப்பு, s. (com. சிங்கமுகத் தோடா.) Bracelets with a lion's face engraved on. See under காப்பு. சிங்கமுகப்பல்லக்கு, s. A palankeen with the face of a lion. சிங்கவேறு, s. A he-lion, ஆண்சிங்கம். 2. (fig.) A hero, வீரன். (p.) சிங்காசனம்--சிங்காதனம்--சிம்மாசனம், s. A throne supported by carved lions. சிங்கத்திசை--சிங்கராசித்திசை, s. South, தெற்கு. (Used in augury.) ஆண்பிள்ளைச்சிங்கம், s. A hero, See under ஆண். இராசசிங்கம், s. A royal lion, a great, and valiant king. சிங்கப்பட்டம், s. [prov.] A little, being an epithet of சிங்கம், chiefly among Vellalas. சிங்கப்பல், s. A snag-tooth, குட்டிப் பல். சிங்கங்கீற, inf. [prov.] To record the number of சிங்கம் in the play. சிங்கமடிக்க, inf. To toss up and strike the beat in the play of கிட்டிபுள்ளு. 55) *
சிரங்கு
cirngku (p. 185) s. An eruption, ulcer; the ulcers, or scabs individually in the itch, &c., ஓர்புண். 2. Itch, சொறி. இரும்பெடுத்த கையுஞ் சிரங்குபிடித்த கையுஞ் சும் மா இராது. The hand armed with iron, or covered with itch, cannot be quiet. சிரங்கரிக்க, inf. To itch. சிரங்கள்ளிப்போட--சிரங்கள்ளிக்கொட் ட--சிரங்குவாரிப்போட, inf. To break out thickly, as the itch. சிரங்காறுதல், v. noun. Healing of the itch. சிரங்குகுத்த, inf. [prov.] To break itch-pustules with the nails, for relief from itching. சிரங்குசொறிய, inf. To scratch when itching. See சொறி. v. சிரங்குஞ்சீயுமாயிருக்க, inf. To be afflicted with running eruptions. சிரங்குண்டாக--சிரங்குவர,--சிரங்குபிடி க்க, s. To break out, as the itch. சிரங்குதிர, inf. To cast off itch scabs. சிரங்கெண்ணெய், s. An oinment for the itch. (Modern.) சிரங்குப்புண், s. Itch-sores or ulcers. சிரங்குள்ளடங்கல், v. noun. Striking in of the itch--considered dangerous. சிரங்கெரிவு, s. Irritation or burning of the itch. தோடகச்சிரங்கு--தோடஞ்சிரங்கு--தோ ட்டுச்சிரங்கு, s. [prov.] A kind of itch with large scabby ulcers. நமுட்டுச்சிரங்கு, s. Itch like prickly heat. ஆனைச்சிரங்கு, s. A kind of itch with very large blotches. See ஆனை. அரிசிரங்கு, s. See அரி, v. சொறிசிரங்கு, s. A small kind of itch causing very annoying sensations. சிறுசிரங்கு, s. Small eruptions on the skin. உமிச்சிரங்கு, s. [prov.] A very small kind of itch having a continued irching and excessive burning. 39)

cuttam (p. 193) s. W. p. 851. S'UDD'HA. Pureness, cleanness, chastity--as சுசி. 2. Genuineness, entireness, reality, சுயம். 3. Faultlessness, correctness, பிழையின்மை. 4. Strict morality, sanctity, மாசின்மை. 5. Being unmixed, untainted, unadulterated, கலப்பின்மை. 6. Innocence, innocence established by trial or ordeal, கறையின்மை. (c.) 7. The third and highest state of separate souls next to absorption, சுத் தாவத்தை. 8. A prefix to the names of the phases of the moon in her increase-as opposed to பகுளம். 9. (fig.) Health, salubrity, recovery from disease, welfare, சொஸ்தம். 1. [in astron.] Correction or equation. சுத்தஞ்சோறுபோடும். Pureness will make one prosperous. சுத்தக்கறுப்பு, s. Entire blackness. (c.) சுத்தக்காரன், s. A man who is neat and clean. 2. (fig.) A pure, innocent man, சுத்தன். சுத்தசதுர்த்தசி, s. The fourteenth phase of the moon in her increase--as opposed to பகுளம். சுத்தசத்தியம், s. The simple truth, genuineness, authenticity. சுத்தசலம், s. Clean or pure water. சுத்தசூனியம், s. Absolute nothingness, nonentity, முழுப்பாழ். (c.) 2. Atheism. நிரீச்சுரம். சுத்த சூனியமாக்கிப்போட்டான். He has utterly destroyed the family. சுத்தசைதன்னியம், s. Pure spirit, pure intellect--as distinct from matter. (p.) சுத்தசைவம், s. The highest, or the sixteenth degree of Saivism. See சைவம். சுத்தச்சிவப்பு, s. Pure red, scarlet. (c.) சுத்தஞானம், s. Pure, spiritual knowledge; pure ஞானம் unmixed with works. (p.) சுத்ததத்துவம், s. One of the five properties of Siva. See சிவதத்துவம். சுத்ததாளம், s. A superior kind of தா ளம். சுத்ததினம், s. A lucky day. See சுதினம். 2. New year's day, வருஷப்பிறப்பு. 3. The exact number of days elapsed in an epoch, or in any fixed portion of time --considered as an element for finding the longitude, &c., of the sun, moon, planets, &c. சுத்தத்தோடிருக்க, inf. To be pure in body and mind. சுத்தநாசம், s. (also சர்வநாசம்.) Entire destruction, utter ruin. (c.) சுத்தநிலை, s. As சுத்தம், 7. சுத்தபஞ்சமி, s. The fifth day of the new moon. See பஞ்சமி. சுத்தபட்டினி, s. Utter starvation. (c.) சுத்தபத்தி, s. Real piety, sincere devotion. சுத்தபரிமளம், s. Fragrance, sweet scent. சுத்தபரிசம், s. [in astron.] True time of the beginning of an eclipse. சுத்தபரிசுத்தாங்கம், s. Entire purity, holiness. (Colloq.) சுத்தபவித்திரம், s. Entire pureness, holiness. (p.) சுத்தபாடம், s. The correct or genuine reading. சுத்தபோசனம், s. Sacred food--commonly used in reference to offerings made in the temples. சுத்தபௌரணை, s. The oppositions of the sun and moon. சுத்தபுடம், s. [in astron.] The real situation (longitude) of a planet, &c., as differing from its mean place. சுத்தப்பட, inf. To be cleaned. சுத்தப்படச்செய்ய, inf. To make a thing neatly. 2. [in carpentry.] To plane the wood smoothly. சுத்தப்பிரதி, s. A fair copy. (c.) சுத்தபூமி, s. Cleared land. (p.) சுத்தப்படுத்த--சுத்தம்பண்ண, inf. To cleanse, to clear away, make clean. சுத்தப்பிழை, s. Complete error. (c.) சுத்தப்பொய், s. A downright lie. (c.) சுத்தமத்தளம், s. A superior kind of மத்தளம். சுத்தமனம், s. A frank, sincere mind, கபடமின்மை. 2. A pure mind. சுத்தமாயை, s. Pure spiritual Maya. See மாயை. சுத்தமாய், adv. Wholly, entirely, utterly, absolutely. 2. At all, in the least. (c.) இன்றைக்கெனக்குச்சுத்தமாச்சாப்பாட்டுக்கில்லை. I am, to day, entirely destitute of food. சுத்தமார்க்கம், s. Pure conduct, spotless morality. 2. Sincere piety. 3. The true system of religion. சுத்தம்பண்ண, inf. To purity, either physically or ceremonially; to cleanse, to refine. 2. [in astron.] To equate or correct. சுத்தம்பேச, inf. [prov.] To speak boastingly of one's character, parentage, connexions, &c. சுத்தவநியாயம், s. A gross injustice. (c.) சுத்தவாசனை, s. Pure fragrance. 2. (fig.) A pure state of the soul--oppo. to மலினவாசனை. சுத்தவாளர், s. [improp.] Pure persons. 2. (Rom. usage.) Saints, அர்ச்சியசிஷ்டர். சுத்தவாளி, s. (c.) சுத்தவீரம், s. True valor, heroism. (c.) சுத்தவீரர், s. (sing. சுத்தவீரன்.) True heroes. சுத்தவுபவாசம், s. Absolute fasting, total abstinence during a fast. சுத்தவெள்ளை, s. Pure white. 2. That which is entirely white. (c.) சுத்தன், s. A pure person, a sincere person, பரிசுத்தன். (c.) 2. One ripe for liberation from births, a soul in the third, or highest stage, next to absorption, நின்மலன். 3. Siva, அரன். 4. Brahma, ஐயன். 5. Argha, அருகன். 6. Vishnu, அரி. கைச்சுத்தம், s. Cleanness of hands or freedom from bribery. (c.) மெய்ச்சுத்தம், s. Cleanliness of body. (c.) மனச்சுத்தம், s. Mental purity. (c.) வாய்ச்சுத்தம், s. Veracity, or cleanness of mouth. (c.) சுத்தாங்கம், s. Pureness, cleanness, purity, sanctity, சுத்தம். 2. Entireness, absoluteness, முழுமை; [ex அங்கம்.] (c.) சுத்தாங்கமாய்ப்போயிற்று. It is entirely gone. 2. Collection, assemblage, crowd, cluster, bunch, கூட்டம். (p.) 5. [prov.] Shell of a fruit, as of a விளாம்பழம், wood-apple, பழத்தினோடு. (c.) 6. [prov.] Fruits cut in round pieces for curry, வட்ட மாகஅரிந்தது. 7. A round moulding, வட்டத் திரணை. தோடகம், s. A lotus, தாமரை. தோட்டுக்காது, s. [prov.] An ear with a roll in it. தோட்டுப்புழுக்கொடியல், s. [prov.] Palmyra roots boiled, cut in thin slices, and dried in the sun. 5)

tōṭai (p. 264) s. [prov.] Different kinds of Citrus--as lemons, citron, and oranges. Of the latter are, கைச்சற்றோடை, of a bitter kind; தேன்றோடை, a sweet orange; புளித்தோடை, a sour kind. (Jaffna usage.) தோடங்காய்--தோடம்பழம், s. Fruit of the தோடை trees. தோடங்காயெண்ணெய், s. A medicinal oil for ulcers, &c., கிரந்திஎண்ணெய். 6)

தோஷம்
tōṣam (p. 263) --தோடம், s. Fault, defect, blemish, blight, குற்றம். 2. Sin, offence, transgression, heinous crime, guilt, பாவம். 3. Disorder or vitiation of the humors of the body; or defect in the functions of the bile, phlegm, or wind--often fatal, and always dangerous attended with low pulse, prostration and cold extremities; dyscrasy, சன்னி. W. p. 426. DOSHA. (c.) 4. Humors of the body, also called, பிணி. 5. Typhus fever, ஓர்சுரம். (Ains.) முத்தோஷம், s. The three humors of the body: 1. வாதம், wind, acid or hypochndriacal humors. 2. பித்தம், bile. 3. சிலேட்டுமம், phlegm. See திரிதோஷம். The முத்தோஷம் or three defects in composition: 1. அதிவியாப்தி, or மிகைப்படக்கூறல். 2. அ வியாத்தி or குற்றங்கூறல். 3. அசம்பவம் or மாறு கொளக்கூறல், which see. தோஷகுணம், s. A cold prostrate state of the body, from supposed derangement of its juices. தோஷக்காய்ச்சல், s. See காய்ச்சல். தோஷங்கொள்ள, inf. To be in a torpid state. தொனு, s.
