To cease, desist, cease from actions, dispense with, to intermit, cease--as trees from bearing for the season or entirely; to discontinue a course of actions good or bad, ஓய. 2. To be over--as a market, an assembly, &c., கலைய. 3. To be excepted, be empty, தவிர. 4. To go off, forsake, quit, evacuate, leave, நீங்க. 5. To fail, decline, be extinct, become annihilated, கெட. 6. To die, perish, சாவ. 7. To be finished, terminated, ended, செய்தொழிய. 8. To clear off, be cleared off, removed by little and little, தீர. 9. v. a. To omit, to except, விட. ஒழிந்தவர்களெங்கே. Where are the rest? பட்டொழிந்தோரொழிந்தோர்கள். All but those who fell in battle-- (பார.) கூட்டமொழிந்தது. The meeting is over. கருமமொழியாதியற்றல். Performing rites without intermission. சண்டையொழிந்தது. Leisure. ஒழியிசை, s. [in grammar.] A kind of ellipsis. ஒழிய, inf. [used as an exceptive particle.] Except, besides, unless, without. நீரொழியப்பாலுண்குருகிற்றெரிந்து. Discriminating as nicely as the swan which extracts milk from water. அவன்வந்தாலொழியப்போகேன். Unless he come I will not go. ஒன்றொழியநானூறு, s. One less than four-hundred. அவனொழியவனைவரையுமழைத்தார்கள். They invited all but him. வழங்காதொழிய, inf. To grow into disuse, to become obsolete. உடம்பொழிய. The body failing-- (பழ மொழி.) துயிலொழிய, inf. To cease sleeping, to wake. ஒழிபு, s. Fate, destiny; fruit of actions, good or bad ஊழ். 1. Duty, obligation, கடமை, as ஏசு, பாலன், let him go; ஒழியற்பா லது, it should be omitted or excepted. 11. Modes of dressing ladies' hair. See பால், 5. (p.) எங்கள்பால், To us. எப்பாலும். Everywhere. அது பெரும்பாலும் வழக்கம். It is generally used. பால், 5. The five numbers, and genders, are, ஆண்பால், masculine singular; 2. பெண் பால், feminine singular; 3. பலர்பால், masculine or feminine plural;--of the உயர்திணை, or rational class; 4. ஒன்றன் பால், or ஒருமைப்பால், neuter singular; 5. பலவின்பால், or பன்மைப்பால், neuter plural --of the அஃறிணை, or irrational class. The five are distinguished by different words and terminations--as 1. ஒருவன், or அவன்; 2.ஒருத்தி, or அவள்; 3.பலர், or அவர்; 4. ஒன்று, or அது; 5. பல, or அவை. பால், 5. The five modes of dressing ladies hair are: முடி, tying it on the crown; 2. கொண்டை, knotting it on either side; 3. சுருள், carrying the lock up and folding it behind; 4.குழல், coiling and tying it up behind in a roll; 5. பனிச்சை, plaiting the hair and letting it hang down. பால்பகாவஃறிணைப்பெயர், s. Neuter nouns without distinction of number. பால்வழு, s. [in gram.] Misuse of number of gender. பான்முளை, s. The germ of fate, ஊழ் முளை. (நீதிநெறி.) பாலது, appel. n. It is the portion. māṟu (p. 351) கிறேன், மாறினேன், வேன், மாற, v. n. To become changed, exchanged, altered, reversed, cured; corrected in state, place, form, appearance, வேறுபட. 2. [improp. for மாற்று.] To change money, as மாறிக்கொ ண்டவன், he who has changed [a rupee]. 3. To lose an employment, with the dative of the person, as அவனுக்குத்தியோகம்மாறிப்போ யிற்று. 4. [in combin.] To change, as மாறி விழ, to draw back from a promise; மாறிவிழு ந்துபேசுகிறது, to tergiversate. 5. v. a. To whip with a rod, அடிக்க. 6. To exchange goods; to barter, பொருள்மாற. 7. varucciyam (p. 376) --வர்ச்சியம், s. [com. வர்ச்சம்.] What is to be shunned, excepted, abandoned, தள்ளப்படுவது. (Sa. Varjjya.) வர்ச்சியகாலம், s. [com. வர்ச்சகாலம்.] A point in each lunar mansion, during the passage of the moon, at which no business should be begun. 2.
