uṟai (p. 68) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To be pungent, biting, sharp, கார்க்க. 2. To burn--as the body from exposure to the sun --the mouth, or a sore from any thing pungent--the back after flogging, &c., எரிய. 3. To affect acutely, cut to the quick--as a blow, rebuke, a sarcasm, &c.; to impress, தாக்க. 4. To become firm, fast, steadfast, decided--as the mind, அழுந்த. உறைக்கமழைபெய்தது. A rod for striking off grain, in measuring, a strickle. பறைக்காளி--பறைக்காலி--பறைக்கால், s. [vul. பறக்காளி.] Muslin of fine cloth woven by Pariahs; also used for a coarse kind. பறைக்குடி, s. A Pariah family. பறைக்கோலம், s. Mean attire or appearance. பறைசாற்ற, inf. To publish govern ment orders by beat of drum. 2. [fig.] To blab out secrets, to tattle, வெளிப்படுத்த. பறைச்சேரி, s. A Pariah village. பறைதட்ட, inf. To beat a drum. 2. As பறைசாற்ற. 3. To strike off the பறை measure, தலைவழிக்க. பறைதட்டினாற்போல. As the beating of a drum; or as a measure of grain, stricken. Pariah habits, practices &c. 2. Low, vile, degraded habits. பறைப்பாட்டு, s A song sung by a Pariah, any low song. 2. Low abuse, as offered by a Pariah, &c., திட்டு. பறைபாட்டுக்குஞ் [or பறைப்பேச்சுக்கும்.] சுரை ப்பூவிற்குமணமில்லை. The song or speech of a Pariah, and the flower of சுரை gourd are both destitute of fragrance. பறைப்புடையன், s. A kind of புடை யன் serpent. பறைப்பூச்சி, s. [prov.] A spider. பறைப்பேச்சு, s. Low, vulgar language, the ungrammatical dialect of Pariahs. பறைமுழக்கு, v. noun. The sounding of drums by Pariahs at the temples of the ferocious deities, and at cross roads, in case of sickness. பறைமுறை, s. Publishing by beat of drum. பறைமுறைசாற்ற--பறைமுறைபோட --பறைமுறையிட, inf. As பறைசாற்ற. பறைமேளம், s. The drum of Pariahs. பறையர், s. [pl.] The drummer caste. பறையவளவு, s. A Pariah compound. garden, &c. பறையவீடு, s. A Pariah house. பறையன், s. pūcai (p. 329) s. Worship, homage to superiors, or adoration of the gods, with the proper ceremonies, ஆராதனை. W. p. 548. POOJA. 2. Food, eatables, given to religious mendicants, மயேசுரபூசை. 3. [ironically.] A good flogging, அடி.-- Note. பூசை is two-fold: 1. அந்தரியாகபூசை, internal or mental worship; 2. பகிரியாகபூசை, external worship. The four special seasons for the கிரியாபூசை, at the temples are பிராதக் காலம், at dawn; 2. மாத்தியானிகம், at midday; 3. சாயங்காலம், at sunset; 4. அர்த்த சாமம், at midnight. Two other seasons are observed in some temples, at nine in the morning, and nine at night. பூசாகாலம், s. Time of offering puja, ஆராதனைவேளை. பூசாசாரி, s. A priest, one who offers puja, at small fanes not Brahmanical; an exorcist. See பூசாரி. பூசாபலம்--பூசாபலன், s. Merit of puja. பூசாபலன்பண்ணினவன், appel. n. One who receives in the present life, the reward of merit in a former state. பூசாமுகம்--பூசைமுகம், s. Presence of the puja. பூசாவிதி, s. A directory for puja. பூசைகாண, inf. To attend on or be present at, the performance of puja. பூசைகொடுக்க, inf. To give eatables to religious mendicants. 2. [in irony.] To give a good flogging. பூசைத்திரவியம், s.
