Consciousness, feeling, intuition, perception, discernment, understanding, sensibility, knowledge, wisdom, judgment, experience, reason, learning, &c., acquiring knowledge, உணர்வு. என்காலிலேயுணர்ச்சியில்லை. My leg is devoid of feeling, affected by paralysis, &c. உணர்தல், v. noun. Being reconciled--as man and wife after a lovequarrel. ஊடலுணர்தல்புணர்தலிவைகாமங்கூடியார்பெற் றபயன். Disunion, reconciliation and the pleasures of love, those are the fruits of matrimony. (குறள்.) உணர்த்தி, s. [vul. prop. உணர்ச்சி.] Feeling. உணர்த்தியற்றவன், s. A man past feeling, one devoid of sensibility. உணர்த்தியுள்ளவன், s. A man of sensibility, one who is affected by the wants of others. உணர்வு, v. noun. Feeling, consciousness, intuition, perception, understanding, knowledge by means of the senses, உணர்கை. 2. Clear discernment, intellect, reason, தெளிவு. 3. Cessation from sleep, love quarrels, &c., ஊடலுந் துயிலுநீங்கல். 4. Acquiring of knowledge, learning, experience, acquaintance with science, &c., கற்றுணர்கை. 5. A sense, புலன். 6. Separation, நீங்கல். உணரவுணருமுணர்வுடையாரைப்புணரப்புணருமா மின்பம். To be united in friendship with the prudent who think of what they ought to think is productive of the highest felicity. (நாலடி.) உள்ளத்துணர்வுடையான். A man of great wisdom. உணர்வுகேடு, s. Forgetfulness, listlessness, inattention, உணர்ச்சியின்மை. 2. Want of understanding, அறிவீனம். நுண்ணுணர்வு, s. An acute perception. தேர்ந்தவுணர்வினன், s. A man of improved understanding. தளர்ந்தவுணர்வினன், s. A dull man, one slow of understanding. 114)

uyr (p. 63) --உயரு, கிறேன், உயர்ந்தேன், வேன், உயர, v. n. To rise, become high, tall, elevated, to grow, or rise high, வளர. 2. To rise as water; to ascend as a paper kite; to rise towards the meridian as a heavenly body, மேலெழ. 3. To become proud, vain, self-conceited, consequential, to be elated, இறுமாக்க. 4. To be excellent, exalted, eminent, dignified, மேன்மையுற. In neuter forms it is found chiefly in the past tense. 5. To be raised or lifted up, உன்ன தப்பட. உயரப்பறந்தாலுமூர்க்குருவிபருந்தாமோ? Though it soars high, will the sparrow become a hawk? ஓதற்றொழிலுரித்துயர்மூவருக்கும். The study of the vedas belongs to the three superior castes. வரம்புயரநீருயருநீருயரநெல்லுயருநெல்லுயரக்குடி யுயருங்குடியுயரமுடியுயரும். As the banks are raised, the water will rise, as the water increases, so will the rice, rice will increase population, and as the population increases, so will the dignity of the crown. உயரநினைப்பவன்தாழ்வான். To assume, elevate one's self, make much of one's powers, பெருமைப்படுத்த.--Note. Instances of உயர்த் தல், in the past are found in verse, but in the present and future it seems to be seldom or never found. நரகந்தன்படத்தையுயர்த்திக்காட்டும். The cobra raises its hood and exhibits it. சேவலையுயரியதேவநாயகன். The leader of the gods (skanda) who has exalted the cock as his banner. வலனுயர்த்தவண்ணலஞ்சேல். The lofty carp banner which has exalted victory to view. (நைடதம்.) உயர்த்திப்பேச, inf. To dignify, speak of one with high respect. உயர்த்தியாய்க்கேட்க, inf. To bid high in an auction, &c. 16)

ōngku (p. 84) கிறேன், ஓங்கினேன், வேன், ஓங்க, v. a. To lift up, raise the arm, a weapon, a pestle, கையோங்க. 2. v. n. To grow high, rise above others, above the level; to be lofty--as a building, a mountain, a tree; to shoot forth, rise--as a flame, உயர. 3. To mount, soar, எழும்ப. 4. To rise to the surface--as planted rice when flooded, எழ. 5. To be exalted, dignified, eminent, பெருமையுற. 6. To stand on tip-toe and look. ஓங்கிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To rise and catch, either by becoming erect, or standing on tip-toe, or jumping. ஓங்கியசெல்வம், s. Abounding wealth. பிறன்மனைநோக்காதபேராண்மைசான்றோர்க்கறனொ ன்றோவான்றவொழுக்கு. The magnanimity which disdains to look on another's wife, is it an act of propriety merely? It is exalted virtue. [in rhet.] A kind of அவநூதி figure, in which a prorperty or quality universally predicated of an object is apparently denied, by affirming the opposite, either ironically or ambiguously. குணவாகடம்--குணபாடல், s. A treatise on the signs and symptoms of diseases, ஓர்வைத்தியநூல். குணவாகுபெயர், s. [in gram.] Names of qualities or attributes, used by metonymy for objects possessing those qualities or attributes--as in நீலஞ்சூடினாள். குணவாக்கு, s. Peculiar temper or habit. குணவிலக்கு, s. A good disposition, kindness, benevolence, virtue. சற்குணன்--சற்குணி, s. A virtuous person; a good-natured person. சாத்தியகுணம், s. [in medi.] The condition or state of being curable; favorable symptoms; hopeful case. குணி, s. One endowed with good qualities, a good-tempered person, நற்குண முடையான். 2. [in gram.] A subject, any thing which possesses attributes or qualities--as distinguished from குணம், also, the names of such things, பண்பி. 3. [ex குணம், bow-string.] A bow, வில். (சது.) குணிப்பெயர், s. [in gram.] Concrete or subjective noun; a denotative name which signifies a subject only and not an attribute or quality--as மதுரை, தாம ரை--opposed to குணப்பெயர். துர்க்குணம்--தீக்குணம், s. Bad disposition, ill-nature, vice. நாய்க்குணம், s. Doggedness, rudeness, cynicalness. பேய்க்குணம், s. Devilishness, foolishness. மழைக்குணம், s. Sign or appearance of rain. நாற்குணம், s. The four prevalent or prominent human qualities. These are subdivided, and four are ascribed to each sex. 1. ஆடூஉக்குணம், the masculine: 1. அறிவு, knowledge, intelligence, clear perception. 2. நிறை, equanimity, self-control. 3. ஓர்ப்பு, fortitude, firmness, deci sion. 4. கடைப்பிடி, confidence, full persuasion, perseverance. II. மகடூஉக்குணம், the feminine: 1. நாணம், shyness, coyness, bashfulness--with regard to the other sex. 2. மடம், simplicity, weakness of intellect, want of clear perception. 3. அச்சம், timidity, fear, diffidence. 4. பயிர் ப்பு, delicacy; modesty; shrinking from what is mean or vile. முக்குணம், s. The three principles in nature, Satva, Raja, and Tama, which are the ultimate source of all quality or character in man, and may be indefinitely developed and expanded. The more generic and prominent development is three-fold, making nine gunas. Satva-guna-- goodness, produces illumination and mildness in thought, word and deed. Operating in these directions, it becomes an 'unfailling and perfect light to the soul, arousing it and making it ready to eat the fruit of its own doings' Raja-guna--passion, produces for the soul the propensity to excessive occupation in thought, word and deed, and asperity in the same. By these means it prepares the soul to receive pleasure and pain, according to its karmma or the law of its fate. Tama-guna brings forth arrogance, that egotistic guna which says 'there is none like me,' &c., and wilfulness or depraved will. By these means it welcomes all sensual objects and brings them to the soul. The first stage in the soul's spiritual progress is a degree of self-knowledge by which it has a view of these gunas and its relations to them. To each of these gunas belong certain peculiar qualifications. I. சத்துவகுணம் or சாத்துவிகம். Ist. ஞானம், wisdom. 2d. அருள், grace. 3d. தவம், penance. 4th. பொறை, patience. 5th. வாய் மை, veracity. 6th. மேன்மை, greatness, excellence. 7th. மௌனம், silence, taciturnity. 8th. ஐம்பொறியடக்கல், restraint of the five senses. The Satva principle is the source of truth, and the predominance of it renders its possessor virtuous, gentle, devout, charitable, chaste, honest, &c. II. இரசகுணம் or இராசதம். 1st. மனவூக்கம், mental exertion. 2d. ஞானம், discretion. 3d. வீரம், fortitude. 4th. தவம், penance. 5th. தருமம், charity. 6th. தா னம், liberality. 7th. கல்வி, erudition. 8th. கேள்வி, inquiry, instruction. The Raja principle is the source of sensual desire, worldly covetousness, pride and falsehood, and is the cause of pain. III. தமகுணம் or தாமதம். 1st. பேருண்டி, rioting or banqueting. 2d. நெடுந்துயில், long sleep. 3d. சோம்பு sluggishness. 4th. நீதிவழு, deviation from justice. 5th. ஒழுக் கவழு, deviation from virtue. 6th. வஞ்சம். deceit. 7th. மறதி, forgetfulness. 8th. பொய், lying, falsehood. 9th. கோபம், anger. 1th. காமம், lust, lasciviousness. 11th. கொலை, murder. The Tama principle is the source of folly, ignorance, mental blindness, worldly delusion, &c.--Note. These three gunas, according to the Agama school, are developed from Prakruti (மூலப்பிரகிருதி,) and constitute all those physical and psychical aspects, which, under the determining power of the will, form the functional qualities of an organized soul. (சிவ-சி.) In the Vedantic, idealist philosophy the gunas are the ideal attributes of Mula-Prakruti which, in its turn, is but an illusion or mistaken representation of Brahm. அறுகுணம்--இச்சுரன்முக்கியகுணம், s. The principal attributes of Isvara or God are six in number. 1. சர்வஞ்ஞத்துவம், omniscience. 2. சர்வேசுரத்துவம், supremacy. 3. சர்வநியந்திருத்துவம், pre-ordination. 4. சர் வாந்தரியாமித்துவம், omnipresence. 5. சர்வகற் பிதத்துவம், unlimited creative power. 6. சர்வ சத்தித்துவம், almightiness. (சது.) Another enumeration is-- 1. தன்வயத்தனாதல், selfexistence. 2. முதலிலனாதல், eternity. 3. உடம்பிலனாதல், immateriality. 4. எல்லாநல முளனாதல், benevolence. 5. எங்கும்வியாபகனா தல், omnipresence. 6. எவற்றிற்குங்காரணனா தல், being the Creator of all things.-Note. The latter enumeration is found in Roman Catholic writings. எண்குணம், s. The eight attributes of the deity. Authors differ in their enumerations and definitions of them. The enumeration of பரிமேலழகர், the commentator of the Cural, as agreeing with the Agamas, is:--1. தன்வயத்தனாதல், self-existence, independence. 2. தூயவுடம்பினனாதல், immaculateness. 3. இயற்கையுணர்வினனாதல், intuitive wisdom. 4. முற்றுமுணர்தல், omniscience. 5. இயல்பாகவே பாசங்களினீங்கிநிற் றல், freedom from the snares and illusions to which a derived intelligence is exposed. 6. பொருளுடைமை, unbounded kindness. 7. முடிவிலாற்றலுடைமை, omnipotence. 8. வரம்பிலின்பமுடைமை, infinite happiness. Another enumeration, as given in Jaina books, is--1. கடையிலாஞானம், infinite wisdom. 2. கடையிலாக்காட்சி, omniscience. 3. கடையிலாவீரியம், omnipotence. 4. கடையிலாவின்பம், boundless happiness. 5. நாமமின்மை, being nameless. 6. கோத்தி ரமின்மை, without descent. 7. ஆயுவின்மை, without age; eternal. 8. அந்தாரயமின்மை, unobstructed. 13)

The twentyseventh lunar asterism, or nacshatra; also, the time the moon accupies in traversing the nacshatra, இரேவதி. குரங்கானாலுங்குலத்திலெடு. Though an ape, let a wife be from one's own family. குலங்குப்பையிலே பணம்பந்தியிலே. Rank or caste is on the dung-hill, while wealth sits in state; i. e. the wealthy are honored. கோடாலிக்காம்பு குலத்துக்கீனம். The axehandle brings ruin to its race (by assisting to cut down trees)--spoken of a person who brings disgrace and ruin to his family. குலகன்மம், s. Customs attaching to a family, through successive generations, குலாசாரம். Wils. p. 233. KULAKARMMA. குலகாயம், s. The rules or regulations of caste, குலவொழுக்கம். இதுனக்குக்குலகாயமாயிருக்கிறது. This is the custom of your family or tribe. குலகூடஸ்தன், s. The first ancestor of a race or lineage. குலக்கொடி--குலஸ்திரீ--குலபத்தினி --குலாங்கனை, s. The lawful wife. 2. A woman reputed for chastity. 3. A woman of good family and caste, and of repute for chastity. குலக்கொழுந்து, s. A rare son, the sprout or hope of the family. குலவிளக்கு, s. A light to the family or caste-spoken of a chaste matron. குலங்கெட்டவன், s. One who has lost his caste; an object, low-caste fellow. குலசிரேட்டன்--குலஸ்தன்--குலத்தன்-குலமான், s. One born of a good family. குலட்சயம், s. The ruin or decay of a family or tribe. wills. p. 233. KULAKSHAYA. குலதருமம், s. The customs, duties, offices, &c., peculiar to, or proper for, a caste, &c. Wils. 233. KULAD'HARMMA. குலதிலகம்--குலதிலதம், s. One who is an honor to his family; the respectable head of a family. 2. Very pure lineage; eminence of caste. Wils. p. 233. KULATILAKA. குலதம்பிரான்--குலகுரு, s. A family guru, the guru of a race or tribe. குலதெய்வம், s. The family, tutelary deity. 2. The deity of the tribe. குலத்துக்குத்தக்ககுணம், s. Disposition, habits, or propensities peculiar to a caste. குலத்துக்குத்தக்கநடை, s. Behaviour suitable to one's caste. குலந்தெரிக்க, inf. To dwell on another's parentage--commonly in ridicule. குலபதி, s. The head of a caste or tribe. Wils. p. 233. KULAPATI. குலப்பகை, s. Natural antagonism between different species--as between cats and dogs. 2. In-bred malice, hatred, &c., between tribes, perpetuated from generation to generation. குலப்பழி, s. Offence or malice, perpetuated from generation to generation. குலப்பழுது--குலவடு, s. Stigma on a family. 2. Meanness of caste. குலப்பரத்தை, s. A courtezan by birth, or ancestry. 2. A courtezan, not common but kept by one man; a kept mistress. குலமகள்--குலப்பெண், s. THe lawful wife. 2. A woman of good caste, reputed for chastity. குலமக்கட்கழகுதன்கொழுநனைப்பேணுதல். It is becoming in a lawful and virtuous wife to cherish and honor her husband. குலமகன், s. A man of respectable caste. 2. A legitimate son. குலமங்குதல், v. noun. Being reduced in respectability, circumstances, &c. குலமணி, s. A genuine gem; (fig.) one of an illustrious birth. குலமிலான்--குலவீனன், s. A man of low caste. குலமுறைகிளத்த--குலஞ்செப்ப, inf. To give the genealogy of a family. குலங்கூற--குலம்பேச, inf. To twit one of low parentage. 2. To boast or talk of one's own or another's high birth. குலம்புகுந்தவன், s. One who has mingled with persons of a strange caste, a term of reproach. குலம்பெயர, inf. [prov.] To be changed for the better or worse--as a tree by transplanting; to improve or degenerate. குலவித்தை, s. The arts, duties, or employments peculiar to a family or caste. குலவிருது, s. The standard or banner peculiar to a family. 2. A peculiarity or propensity in an individual, common to his family. குலாசாரம், s. The custom, usage, duties, rites, &c., of a caste or tribe. Wils. p. 234. KULACHARA. குலாசாரங்காட்டுகிறான். He betrays his family or caste propensities. குலாசாரியன், s. The family priest-as குலகுரு. Wils. p. 234. KULACHARYYA. குலாதிக்கன், s. One of high caste or family, குலசிரேட்டன். குலாபிமானம், s. Family pride, pride of birth. 2. Respectability of caste, family, &c., சாதிமானம். Wils. p. 234. KULAB'HIMANA. குலிஞன்--குலிஞ்சன், s. A person of a high family, of honorable descent, &c., குலமுள்ளோன். குலீனன், s. One of a high family, &c. Wils. p. 234. KULEENA. குலோத்துங்கன், s. The respectable chief of a family. 2. The name of an illustrious prince of the Chola dynasty. குலடன், s. An adopted son, a foster child, சுவீகாரபுத்திரன். Wils. p. 233. KULAT'A. குலகிரி--குலபர்வதம்--குலாசலம், s. The eight mountains in Jambu Dwipa, (See கிரி.) 2. Seven mountain which are supposed to be in each of the seven Dwipas. 3. The circular mountains which are fancied to surround the annular seas respectively, together with the one which sorrounds the Pushkara Dwipa. (காந்.) நற்குலம், s. A good caste or tribe. 2. An excellent kind. இதுநற்குலதீவிதிராட்சச்செடி. This is a very choice vine. இவன்நற்குலத்தான்--நற்குலத்தோன். He is a man of a high caste, or family. 20)

koṭṭu (p. 146) கிறேன், கொட்டினேன், வேன், கொட்ட, v. a. To strike, to beat a drum, a tambourine, &c., to play on an indtrument of music, பறைகின்னரமுதலியகொட்ட. 2. To hammer, beat, malleate--as a brazier, கம்மியரடிக்க. 3. To clap the hands, கைகொட்ட. 4. To dance--as in the கும்மி dance; to frolic, கும்மியடித்தாட. 5. To clap or stick on, to daub sandal or fragrant pastes on the body, அப்ப. (p.) 6. To sting --as a reptile or insect, தேள்முதலியகொட்ட. 7. To cuff, குட்ட. 8. (Sans. Khót'a.) Wils. p. 275. To cast, pour out-as corn, sand, &c., from a basket or sack; to throw or cast into a vessel, sack; &c.; to pour forth, போட. 9. To shed--as leaves, fruits, &c., சொரிய. 1. v. n. To be shed or cast out, to fall, சிந்த. கொட்டினாற்றேள் கொட்டாவிட்டாற்பிள்ளைப்பூச்சி. If it sting, it is a scorpion; if not, it is a harmless gryllus; i. e. we call things good or bad according to their effect on us. கொட்டிக்கொட்டியளக்க, inf. To cast down and measure again and again; i. e. again, one marcal will not make two. கொட்டிகொட்டியளந்தாலுங்குறுணிபத்தாகாது. Though you measure over and over again, one marcal will not make two. கரப்பன்அள்ளிக்கொட்டிப்போட்டது. An eurption has broken out all over the body. பனிகொட்டுகிறது. The dew falls heavily. கொட்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To pour out and give, to give to excess, to lavish, to squander. 2. (fig.) To make a display of words, to say more than is proper. சப்பாணிகொட்ட, inf. To clap hands --as infants in play. See சப்பாணி. கொட்டு, v. noun. Beating, drumming, malleating, &c. See கொட்டு, v. கொட்டுக்கன்னார், s. Braziers who work by beating, not casting. கொட்டுக்காரர், s. [prov.] Drummers--as a caste. கொட்டுக்கிடாரம், s. A large brass boiler made by beating. கொட்டுக்கூடை, s. A metal vessel. 2. A cup-shaped basket. கொட்டுண்ண, inf. To be shed, as leaves, fruits, &c.; to be shot out; to be spilt--as sand, flour, &c. கொட்டுமுழக்கு, v. noun. Beating of drums; an exhibition of drumming. கொட்டுமுறி, s. A superior kind of brass. கொட்டுமண், s. Earth thrown down to improve land, repair a road, &c.; made soil [in opp. to நிலைமண்.] கொட்டுமரம், s. A dyer's block for beating cloth, that it may take the dye. கொட்டுமேளம், s. A kind of drum. 2. Drumming. கொட்டுவாய், s. The part stung by a scorpion other reptile. கொட்டுவான், s. caracuvati (p. 166) s. Sarasvati, wife of Brahma, the goddess of speech, eloquence, music and literature, generally கலைமகள். --She is fancied to reside on the tongue of Brahma, also on those of poets and orators. (c.) 2. The name of a river, சரசுவதியாறு. 3. (fig) An amiable, excellent woman, குணவதி. W. p. 97. SARASVATI. (p.) சரசுவதிகூடம், s. A repository of books on all kinds of learning--the archives of the Indian Minerva at Tanjore. சரசுவதிபீடம், s. The Parnassus of the Hindus, where science is said to have been acquired intuitively; a term used in praise of a learned man, or in ridicule. (c.) சரசுவதிபூசை, s. The worship of Sarasvati, on the last day of Navaratri, (நவராத்திரி,) or nine night's worship, together with Durga and Lukshmi. On this occasion school-boys and others pile up their books, styles, &c., fold their arms and worship them as an image of the goddesses. (c.) சரசுவதிவாக்கு, s. Wielding the shield as a fencer, சிலம்பம். The metrical feet are thirty, divided into five classes, viz.: 1. உரிச்சீர், or ஆசிரியவுரிச்சீர், feet peculiar to the அகவல் verse--as (a.) தேமா, foot of two simple syllables, a spondee. (b.) புளிமா, one compound and one simple syllable; an iambus. (c.) கருவி ளம். Two compound syllables, a pyrrhic. (d.) கூவிளம். One simple and one compound syllable, a trochee. The names serve also as models for the kinds of feet respectively. They are names of trees and their fruits. 2. வெண்சீர், or வெண்பாஉரி ச்சீர். Feet peculiar to வெண்பா verse; as (a.) தே-மாங்-காய். A foot of three simple syllables. (b.) புளி-மாங்-காய். One compound and two simples. (c.) கரு-விளங்--காய். Two compounds and one simple; an anap&ae;st. (d.) கூ-விளங்-காய். A simple, a compound and a simple. 3. வஞ்சியுரிச்சீர், or வஞ்சிச்சீர். Feet peculiar to வஞ்சி verse; as (a.) தே-மா ங்-கனி. A foot of two simple syllables and one compound. (b.) புளி-மாங்-கனி. One compound, one simple, and one compound; an amphibrach. (c.) கரு-விளங்கனி. Three compounds, a tribrach. (d.) கூவிளங்-கனி. One simple and two compound syllables. 4. பொதுச்சீர். Feet of four syllables peculiar to வஞ்சி verse; there are sixteen of them; the models for these are formed by adding respectively, தண்-ணி ழல், தண்-பூ, நறும்-பூ, நறு-நிழல் to the terms employed in the உரிச்சீர். 5. ஓரசைச்சீர். A foot of a single syllable; as (a.) நாள். A foot of one simple syllable. (b.) மலர். A foot of a compound syllable.--Note. 1. One use of the last two is to end the வெண்பா verse. --Note. 2. Sometimes feet answering to காசு, instead of நாள், and பிறப்பு instead of மலர், are employed to end the வெண்பா verse, i. e., the addition of குற்றுகரம் or short உ to the foregoing; and rarely the full உ, or முற்றுகரம் is found. சீராயிருக்கிறேன். I am in a good state. சீரழிக்க, inf. To disturb, subvert, pervert. 2. To ruin, demolish. 3. To disparage one's character. (c.) சீராக, inf. (adverbially.) Orderly, decently, properly, soberly, consistently, circumspectly, moderately, temperately, discreetly. சீராகநடக்க, inf. To act consistently, &c. சீராடிக்கொண்டுபோதல், v. noun. [prov.] The going of a married girl to her father's house for redress of grievances from her husband's family, especially from her mother-in-law. (c.) சீரானநடை, s. A moderate pace. 2. Good moral character without excess. சீரிழுக்க, inf. To pervert good circumstances. (R.) சீரிட--சீர்செய்ய--சீர்கொடுக்க, inf. To give house-hold utensils, &c., to a daughter when married. 2. To put in order, சீர்செய்ய. சீருக்குவர--சீரிலேவர, inf. To be altered for the better, to come to a right or natural state. சீரைத்தேட, inf. To desire wealth. (Avv.). சீரைவிசாரிக்க, inf. To inquire after one's health. (R.) சீர்குலைய, inf. To be disordered, deranged. 2. To be lost--as character, ruined--as circumstances; to be disgraced. 3. (fig.) To be defloured, கற்பழிய. சீர்குலைச்சல், v. noun. Disorder, immodesty. (R.) சீர்கெட, inf. To degenerate, deteriorate, to become tarnished, corrupt, spoiled. சீர்கெட்டவன்--சீர்கேடன், s. A worthless person, a wretch. 2. A sloven. சீர்கெட்டவாழ்வு, s. Unhappy, domestic life. சீர்கேடு, s. Disorder, derangement, irregularity. 2. clumsiness, awkwardness. 3. Ugliness, deformity. சீர்கேடி, s. The goddess of misfortune or poverty, மூதேவி. (நிக.) (p.) சீர்சிறப்பு, s. Splendid prosperity. சீர்செய்ய, inf. To put in order, regulate, improve. 2. To adorn. 3. As சீரிட, which see. சீர்திருத்த, inf. To correct, rectify, amend, ameliorate, to perform. சீர்திருந்த--சீர்பொருந்த, inf. To be corrected, rectified, reformed, &c. சீர்தூக்க, inf. To weigh or examine with a balance. 2. To weigh in the mind, to consider, deliberate. 3. To compare--commonly with பார்த்தல், for the second and third persons. சீர்தூக்கிப்பார். Ponder this well. சீர்நிருவாகம், s. Condition, state, circumstances; [ex நிருவாகம், strength.] சீர்பண்ண, inf. To make ready, to put in order, correct, improve. சீர்பதி, s. The Supreme Being, கடவுள். See சீபதி. சீர்பாதம், s. The divine feet, the illustrious feet--spoken reverently for the person. See சீபாதம். சீர்பெற, inf. To attain prosperity. சீர்போட, inf. [prov.] To tie the balance string to a paper kite. (c.) சீர்ப்பட--சீர்பட, inf. To be restored, to amend, recover, come to a good state --as செம்மைப்பட. சீர்ப்படுத்த, inf. To reform, improve, bring to a good state--as செம்மைப்படுத்த. சீர்ப்படுத்திவைக்க, inf. To arrange things in order. சீர்ப்பாடு, s. Celebrity, distinction, eminence, splender, beauty.
