aintu (p. 80) adj. or noun. Five, ஓரெண். ஐங்கணை, s. Five flowers feigned to be the arrows of Hindu cupid. (p.) ஐங்கணைக்கிழவன், Kama, the Hindu cupid, lit. lord of the five arrows, மன்மதன். (p.) ஐங்கரன், s. Ganesa, the five-handed. He is represented with an elephant's head, the proboscis or trunk is figuratively reckoned as a hand, விநாய கன். (p.) ஐங்கரற்கிளையோன், s. The first post of the marriage shed when planted on the fifth day before the marriage, the third, fifth, or seventh day being chosen, as it may be lucky or otherwise, according to astrological calculation, மணப்பந்தரின் ஐந்தாங்கால். ஐந்தானம், s. The fifth lunar asterism, மிருகசீரிடம். (p.) ஐந்திணை, s. The five kinds of land, &c., ஐவகைநிலம். (See திணை.) 2. The closest friendship or love between husbands and wives, அன்புடைக்காமம். [in arithmetic.] The rule of five or double rule of three, ஓர்வகையெண்வினா. ஐந்தொழில், s. The five divine operations, பஞ்சகிருத்தியம், viz.: 1. சிருஷ்டி, creation or reproduction. 2. ஸ்திதி, preservation. 3. சங்காரம், destruction, reduction of things to their primitive elements. 4. திரோபவம், that act of the deity by which he conceals from the sentient soul its future destiny for purposes of moral discipline; concealing, obscuring; i. e. involving the soul in ignorance or illusion by means of magic. 5. அனுக்கிரகம், grace, the various means adopted for the deliverance of the soul from the power of illusion and consequent transmigrations. In this plant the god Siva is said to have concealed himself when pursued by பஸ்மாசுரன், who had, by penance, obtained from him, as a boon, power to destroy all on whose head he should place his hand. ஐவிரல், s. kuṭukuṭu (p. 117) s. A rumbling noise, a guggling or sound of water running out of a vessel with a narrow mouth, ஒலிக்குறிப்பு. குடுகுடுக்க, inf. To rumble; to rattle. 2. To be in a great hurry. குடுகுடுகிழவன், s. A tottering, decrepit man; a very old man, தளர்ந்தவய தோன். குடுகுடுக்கை, s. A dry cocoanut in which the kernel rattles, காய்ந்தொலிக்குந் தேங்காய். குடுகுடுப்பை, s. Any thing hollow with a rattling inside, குடுகுடுக்கும்பொருள். 2. A small kind of taborine, ஓர்விதப்பறை. 3. [prov.] A wooden clapper for scaring away birds, மாமணி. தலைகுடுகுடுப்பைப்பற்றிப்போயிற்று. [prov.] The head is become very dry from want of oil. குடுகுடுப்பைக்காரன், s. tuṭai (p. 245) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To wipe, wipe off, clean by wiping, rub, scour, scrub, சீக்க. 2. To sweep, brush, பெருக்க. 3. To efface, obliterate, erase, expunge, அழிக்க. 4.
