veṭṭimai (p. 399) s. The office of a townservant, வெட்டியான்றொழில். வெட்டியான், s. The lowest town-servant, one who burns corpses, or digs graves. 2. An insect that cuts off the leaves of grain, ஓர்பூச்சி. 29)

veṭṭivēr (p. 399) s. The odoriferous cuscus root, விலாமிச்சம்வேர். வெட்டிவேர்த்தட்டி, s. An Indian tatty made of the above root, as a screen from the hot wind. 30)

veṭṭu (p. 399) கிறேன், வெட்டினேன், வேன், வெட்ட, v. a. To cut, with a sword or axe, to cut off, to fell by a blow. 2. To engrave, முத்திரைவெட்ட. 3. To dig, as a well, தோண்ட. 4. To injure, to mar--as insects, புழுவெட்ட. 5. To strike off, as in measuring grain. See தலைவெட்ட. (c.) அதைவெட்டிப்போடு. Calumny, slander. வெட்டரிவாள், s. A scythe. வெட்டிமுறிக்க, inf. To fell a tree and cut it to pieces. 2. [fig.] To take great pains, to labor hard. நீஎன்னவெட்டிமுறிக்கிறாய்......
