tī (p. 242) --தீய், கிறது, ந்தது, யும், தீய, v. n. To be slightly scorched, or burnt--as food in cooking, கருக. 2. To be scorched--as growing crops, in time of drought, காய-Note. In combination with குடல், ஈரல், மனம், &c. it is used to express envy, deep grief, pity, fear, &c., according to the connection. அவன்பட்டபாட்டைக்கேட்டால்குடல்தீய்ந்துபோம். If one hears of his afflictions, his bowels will burn. தீந்தகறி, s. Burnt curry. தீந்தமனம், s. An envious mind. தீயச்சுண்ட, inf. To seethe or boil away. தீயல், v. noun. (com. தீசல்.) That which is burnt in cooking. 2. Thick, dry curry, பொரிக்கறி. தீயல்வழிக்க, inf. To scrape off and eat the burnt fool that adheres to the chatty; an act of meanness or poverty. தீயவு--தீவு, v. noun.
