tēṭu (p. 258) கிறேன், தேடினேன், வேன், தேட, v. a. To seek, serch for, inquire, after, நாட. 2. To acquire, earn, procure, சம்பாதிக்க. 3. [vul.] To take care of, cherish, foster. provide for, பராமரிக்க. 4. To inquire about one, to ask after his welfare, உசாவ. (c.) தேடிப்புதைத்துத்தெருவிலிரக்கிறதா. Does he hide what he gets and beg in the street? தேடிமுடியாது. No search can discover it. It cannot be got by seeking. தேடினபூண்டுகாலிலேமிதிபட்டது. The plant sought is under foot; i. e. the thing desired at hand. தேடாக்கூறு, s. [prov.] A state of neglect, பராமரிப்பின்மை; also தேட்டாக்கூறு. தேடாக்கூறாய்க்கிடக்க, inf. To be neglected. தேடாத்தேட்டம், s. Acquisition by unparalleled labor, acquisition by unworthy or unjust means. தேடிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To get for another. 2. To support dependants by labor, &c. தேடித்திரிய, inf. To go in search of, to seek for. தேடித்தின்ன, inf. To live by unworthy means. 2. To live by whoredom. தேடிப்பார்க்க, inf. To search for. 2. To use means for obtaining. (c.) தேடிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To seek and find out. 2. To get a paramour, as an unchaste woman. தேடியதேட்டம், s. [in law.] Property acquired, as distinguished from dowry, legacies, or that which is hereditary. தேடியாடித்திரிய--தேடியோடித்திரிய, inf. To take great pains to search. தேடிவைக்க, inf. tēr (p. 259) s. A car, a chariot, இரதம், (c.) 2. The fourth lunar mansion, உரோகிணி. --There are different kinds of care as எடுப் புத்தேர், a car borne on the shoulders; கட் டுத்தேர், temporary car; இழுப்புத்தேர், சக்க ரத்தேர், a wheeled car; கிண்ணித்தேர், a car ornamented with brass; செய்கைத்தேர், a car for processions; நிலைத்தேர், a fixed car. தேரடி, s. The place where the idolcar is kept, தேர்முட்டி. (c.) தேராள்--தேரோன், s. A chariot-warrior, இரதவீரன். தேரிடக்கியம், s. A flag or benner in a car. See இடக்கியம். தேரிழுக்க, inf. To draw the car at a festival. தேருட்பரப்பு--தேர்ச்சார்பலகை, s. Place in the car for the seat of the idol. தேருருளை--தேருருள்--தேர்க்கால், s. Wheel of a car or chariot. தேருமச்சி, s. A kind of snail with a turbinated shell. See ஊமச்சி. தேரெழுத்தாணி, s. A style shaped at top like a car or tower. See எழுத்தாணி. தேரோட, inf. To run or be drawn, as a car. தேரோடிநிலையிலேநின்றது. The car has run and stopped in its place; i. e. a prosperous course has come to an end. தேரோடும்வீதி, s. The outer road around a temple along which the car is drawn. தேரோட்டம், v. noun. [prov. தேரோட் டு.] The running or drawing of a car, especially at the temple festival. 2. The moving of a chariot. 3. (R.) Defeat of charioteers in war. தேரோட்டுவோர், appel. n. See தேர்க் கொற்றர். தேர்க்கவி, s. A kind of poem so constructed as to be written in the form of a car, இரதபந்தம். தேர்க்காரன், s. Charioteer, சாரதி. தேர்க்குடம், s. Brass knobs in the form of inverted pots, as ornaments to a car. தேர்க்கூம்பு--தேர்மொட்டு, s. Pinnacle of a car. தேர்க்கொடி, s. Pennon or streamer of a car. தேர்க்கொடுங்கை, s. The outside arches of a car, binding it together. (c.) தேர்க்கொற்றர், s. (plu.) Car-drawers, enjoing immunities from the state as a recompense for their services, தே ரோட்டுவோர். தேர்ச்சக்கரம்--தேர்ச்சில்--தேர்ச்சில்லு, s. A wheel of a car of chariot. தேர்ச்சார்பலகை, s. See தேருட்பரப்பு. தேர்ச்சீலை, s. Bright colored clothes with which the idol-car is ornamented. தேர்ச்சுவடு--தேர்த்தடம், s. The track of a car. தேர்த்தட்டு, s. Middle loft of a car, as தேர்ச்சார்பலகை. தேர்த்தானை, s. The chariot-force of an army; also தேர்ச்சேனை. 2. As தேர்ச் சீலை. தேர்த்திருநாள், s. A festival when a temple-car is drawn, தேர்த்திருவிழா. (c.) தேர்த்துகள், s. Dust rising from a car in motion. 2. A measure of length, being the eighth part of a பஞ்சிற்றுகள், and equal to eight கதிரெழுதுகள். தேர்நிலை, s. Stopping place of a car, as தேர்முட்டி. தேர்ப்பந்தல், s. An ornamental shed in the form of a car. தேர்ப்பாகன், s. A car-driver, a charioteer, சாரதி. 2. The planet Mercury, புதன். தேர்ப்பார், s. [prov.] The floor of a car on which the idol is placed, இரதப்பார். தேர்முட்டி, s. A building in which the car is kept, தேர்விடுமிடம், (c.) தேர்மொட்டு, s. See தேர்க்கூம்பு. தேர்வடம், s. Cable with which a car is drawn. (c.) ஓராழித்தேரோன், appel. n. The sun, as having a car of one wheel. (p.) 14)

tēvatattaṉ (p. 259) s. The younger brother of Bud'dha, புத்தன்றம்பி. 2. One of the ten vital airs, that which is exhaled in yawning, தசவாயுவிலொன்று. 3. Like a toad in the mouth of a snake; having no way of excape. ஆயிரம்பாம்புக்குள்ளொருதேரைபோல. As a frog among a thousand serpents. தேரைக்காலும்தேரைக்கையும். A slender leg and arm. தேரைக்குண்டி, s. Flat buttocks. தேரைபாய, inf. To become emsciated about the buttocks, limbs, &c. 2. To leap, as a frog, on a pregnant woman, supposed to cause leanness, or emaciation in the child. தேரைமோக்க, inf. There are some varieties of honey; குறிஞ்சித்தேன், wild honey from the hills; கொசுத்தேன், பொந்துத்தேன், சிறுதேன், honey of a very small bee; பெருந்தேன், good honey from the hills produced by large bees; கொம்புத்தேன், honey from a bunch of a tree in a comb; செந்தேன், red honey of high flavor. தேன்கூட்டிலேகல்லைவிட்டெறியலாமா. One of the seven seas, the sea of honey, ஓர்கடல். தேன்கதலி, s. A sweet kind of plantain, ஓர்வாழை. தேன்குழல்--தேன்குழாய்--தேங்குழல், s. A kind of pastry fried in ghee, fritters, ஓர்பண்ணிகாரம். தேன்குழலுரல், s. A mould for making this pastry. தேன்குழற்கம்பி, s. A piece of pastry. தேன்கூடு, s. A bee's nest or hive, தே னீக்கூட்டம். 2. Cells in a bee's nest. தேன்கூட்டினுட்குழி. 3. Honey-comb, தேனி றால். தேன்தோடை-தேன்றோடை, s. [prov.] The orange tree or fruit. See தோடை. தேன்பூச்சி, s. As தேனீ. (R.) தேன்வதை, s.
