(in Thcol.) Evolution of things from their primitive elements--oppos. to ஒடுக்கம். See உற்பத்தி. 7. Reflection, representation, semblance, சாயை. 8. Vision, prospect. object, sight, தரிசனம். 9. Idea, conception. figure formed in the mind, imagination, notion, எண்ணம். 1. Entrance on the stage as a character; debut, வருகை. 11. Rising of a heavenly body, உதயம். 12. Phenomena, நூதனக்காட்சி. The two classes of தோற்றம், or beings produced, are:--1. சரம், moveable creatures. 2. அசரம், inanimate beings, &c., which see. The four class of தோற்றம். 1. பை, or சார யுகம், viviparous, womb-born. 2. முட்டை, or அண்டசம், oviparous or egg-born. 3. நிலம், or உற்பீசம், germinating from the earth by seeds, &c. 4. வியர்வை, or சுவேதசம், insects supposed to be engendered by perspiration, &c., which see severally. வெள்ளிதோற்றம், s. The appearance of stars, as denoting the time of the evening auspicious for marriage, &c. பேய்த்தோற்றம், s. An appearance of an evil spirit. நிலாத்தோற்றம், s. Rising of the moon. தோற்றக்கவி, s. [loc. கட்டியக்காரன்கவி.] A verse sung immediately before the appearance of a person on the stage. தோற்றத்தரு, s. [prov.] The verse and tune sung at the appearance of a person on the stage, who dances round the area while it is sung. தோற்றப்பட, inf. To appear, to be visible, to be conspicuous. 2. To be formed to come into existence, to be born. தோற்றமாக, inf. To appear on the stage. 2. As தோற்றப்பட. தோற்றமொடுக்கம், s. [prov. தோலுணி.] [fem. தோலான்.] A mean, good-for-nothing person, அற்பன். தோலுரிக்க, inf. To skin, to peel, to flay. தோலூறப்போட, inf. To soak skins as a tanner. தோலைச்சீவ, inf. To scrape off the skin or the coat of a kernel. தோல்சுருங்க, inf. To shrivel, shrink, as skins. தோல்தனம், s. [prov.] Imprudence. தோல்நாய், s. [prov.] A hunting dog, a greyhound, ஓர்நாய். தோல்பதமிட--தோல்பதனிட, inf. To dress or tan leather. தோல்பற்றப்பண்ண, inf. To encrust, cause a crust to form. (R.) தோல்புரைய, inf. To sew or fasten with thongs. தோல்முட்டை, s. An egg laid before the shell is hard. (c.) தோல்வினைஞர்--தோல்வினைமாக்கள், s. (plu.) Workers in leather, சக்கிலியர். (p.) தோல்வைக்க, inf.
