Compartment of a rice field, பாத்தி. 6. A pestle, உலக்கை. 7. A bow, வில். 8. (a contraction of தடித்து.) Lightning, மின்னல். 9. Flesh, ஊன். 1. A guana, உடும்பு.--Note. There are different kinds of தடி--as இருப்புத் தடி, கிலுக்குத்தடி, குணுக்குத்தடி, சோட்டாத்தடி, நுகத் தடி, பாணாத்தடி, வளைதடி, which see severally. விறகுதடியாய்ப்போனான். He is greatly emaciated; (lit.) as fire-wood. [prov.] குயவனுக்குப் பலநாள்வேலை தடியடிக்காரனுக்குச்சற் றுநேரவேலை. Many day's work for the potter, but a few moment's for the breaker. தடிக்கம்பு, s. [loc. தடிக்கொம்பு.] A walking cane, or staff. தடிக்கம்புச்சாப்பாடு, v. noun. Flogging. See under சாப்பாடு. தடித்தனம், s. Rashness, passionateness, rudeness. தடிப்பயல், s. A stubborn person, a block-head. 2. A corpulent person. தடியடிக்காரன், s. A violent person, who acts inconsiderately. தடிமாடன், s. An impudent fellow; [ex மாடன், a demon.] தடியனாபிள்ளை--தடியாண்பிள்ளை, s. An impudent, or corpulent person. தடிபோட, inf. To measure by the long stick in the கிட்டிப்புள்ளு game. தடிமூக்குள்ளான், A kind of snipe. See உள்ளான். தடியன்--தடிமிண்டன், s. A stout, corpulent person, பருத்தவன். 2. A strong athletic man, ஆண்மையுடையவன். 3. An obstinate person, முருடன். குண்டாந்தடி, s. A baton. 6)

tīrttam (p. 243) s. (Sa. Teertha.) Ceremonial purity, சுத்தம். 2. Sacred rivers, or waters at a place of pilgrimage, or as brought from such place, புண்ணியதீர்த்தம். 3. Consecrated water used for washing an idol, which is afterward brought out and given to the people, especially on the last day of the festival, either to be drunk by them, or taken home for the sick to dispel diseases, திருமஞ்சனநீர். 4. Water consecrated for the sick, ஓதியிறைக்கும்நீர். 5. The merit of bathing on an auspicious day, புண்ணியகாலஸ்நா னசுத்தம். 6. A temple festival of procession, திருவிழா. 7. Water in common. நீர். 8. Water given by the brahman in court, in administering an oath, துளசிதீர்த்தம். (c.)-Note The seven sacred rivers are the following. 1. கங்கை, Ganges; 2. யமுனை, Jumna; 3. சரச்சுவதி. Sarasvati which is northward of Delhi; 4. நருமதை, Narbudha; 5. காவேரி Kavery; 6. குமரி. Kumari at Cape Comorin; 7. கோதாவிரி, Godavery. தீர்ந்தங்கொடுக்க, inf. To distribute water, in which the idol has been washed. தீர்த்தசேவை, s. Pilgrimage to holy bathing places. தீர்த்தமாட, inf. To bath in sacred waters. 2. To bath as a part of the daily religions duties. தீர்த்தயாத்திரை, s. Pilgrimage to a holy place for the purpose of bathing. தீர்த்தர், s. (plu.) Devas, celestials, inhabitants of Swerga, கடவுள். (சது.) தீர்த்தவாசி, appel. n. A pilgrim. தீர்த்தன், s. Argha of the Jainas, அரு கன். 2. Siva, சிவன். 3. Guru, குரு. 4. A teacher, especially of the Vedas, உபா த்தியாயன். 33) *

tī (p. 242) adj. Evil, wicked, sinful. தீக்குணம், s. Evil disposition or practice; vice, evil, துர்க்குணம். Vices are of three classes, of மனம், வாக்கு, and காயம். 1. மனத்தீக்குணம், sins of the mind, as (a) கொலைநினைக்கை, murderous intention; (b) காமப்பற்று, libidinous desire; (c) ஆசை, avarice, ambition. 2. வாக்கின்தீக்குணம், sins of the mouth--as (a) பொய்சொல்லல், lying; (b) கோள்சொல்லல், tale-bearing; (c) கோபித்துச்சொல்லல், angry speaking; (d) பயனில்சொல்லல், trifling or vain discourse. 3. காயத்தீக்குணம், sins of the body--as (a) களவாடப்போதல், thievish practices; (b) வறிதேதொழில்செயல், idleness; (c) கொலை செயல், killing, murder. தீக்குணர், s.
