Land under cultivation, commonly designated by some peculiarity, as having trees, hills, rocks, &c., பயிர்த்தலம். (c.) 6. The earth, பூமி. 7. The world in general, either of the fourteen worlds, உலகப்பொது. 8. A place of refuge, புகலிடம். 9. [in composition.] Identity, as பூதலம், the earth itself, கைத்தலம், the hand, செவித்தலம், the ear, கண்தலம், the eye, &c. தலத்திலேகாரியமேறிவிட்டது. tṇṭu (p. 223) கிறேன், தண்டினேன், வேன், தண்ட, v. a. To collect, to exact, to gather; to recover debts, rents, taxes, dues, contributions in money, grain, jewels, &c., வரிமுத லியதண்ட. (c.) 2. v. n. To part with to leave, to remove, to separate from, பிரிய. (p.) 3. (a change of தட்டு, soft for the hard.) To touch, commonly in the negative--as நாக்கிலேதண்டாமல், பட. (c.) நாக்கிலேதண்டாமல்மருந்தைச்சாப்பிட்டான். He swallowed the medicine without its touching his tongue. தண்டாச்சிறப்பினள், s. An epithet of சரசுவதி, the consort of Brahma; (lit.) she who possesses perpetual excellency. (p.) தண்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To collect and deliver. கடன்தண்ட, inf. To recover debts. கடன்தண்டவந்தபிள்ளை. One that dies young; (lit.) the child that came to recover a debt (of a former birth). பணந்தண்ட, inf. To collect money. 3)

tngkm (p. 221) s. (probably a corrupted use of Sa. Tanka.) A weight, used for gold and silver, fine or pure gold, மாற்றுயர்ந் தபொன். (c.) தங்கமானநிலம். Rich soil. 2. Clean ground, floor, &c. 3. Ground, &c., ceremonially pure. தங்கமானநெல்லு. Very nice paddy--spoken in praise. தங்கமானபிள்ளை. A very dear, beautiful or promising child, a very amiable, good child. தங்கமானகுணம் An excellent disposition. தங்கக்கம்பிபோலே. Like gold wire; i. e. a tall, handsome person of good size; fair and not corpulent. தங்கவிக்கிரகம்போலே. Like a golden statue; i. e. one of good colour, proportions, &c. தங்கமே! An expression of endearment. தங்கமானவன். A generous person, an excellent man. தங்கத்துக்கழிவில்லை. Pure gold will never wear away by the lapse of time. பத்தரைமாத்துத்தங்கம். Gold of the highest quality, a hyperbolical or fancied quality, the best gold known being only of the tenth degree. தங்கத்தைஉருக்கிவிட்டதுபோல. Shining in complexion, &c., as refined gold. தங்கக்கட்டி, s. Mass of gold. 2. (fig.) A very dear, beautiful child. தங்கக்காசு, s. Gold coin. தங்கக்காப்பு, s. Golden bracelets. தங்கக்காறு, s. Gold in bars. தங்கக்குடம், s. Gold pot set on the tops of temples. 2. As பொன்குடம். தங்கச்சிந்தூரம், s. As தங்கமிருதியாதி. தங்கத்தகடு, s. Gold plate. தங்கத்தாம்பாளம், s. A plate of gold. தங்கபஸ்பம், s. Medicinal powder of gold--called ashes of gold. தங்கப்பாளம், s. A flat piece or ingot of gold. தங்கப்புகைக்காட்ட, inf. To gild. தங்கப்பூச்சு, v. noun. Gilding, gilt. தங்கமலாம்--தங்கமுலாம், s. Gilt, gilding. See முலாம். தங்கமழுத்த--தங்கமிட--தங்கமிழைக்க, inf. To lay gold, to mount or set with gold. தங்கமிருதியாதி, s. [prov.] A kind of powder said to be of gold. தங்கம்பூச, inf. To gild. தங்கரேக்கு, s. Gold leaf. தங்கவராகன், s. A pagoda, a goldcoin. தங்கவரைஞாண், s. A waist cord of gold. தங்கவேலை, s.
