[in log.] Optical illusion, misconception in objects of sense; i. e. mistaking one thing for another, as a post for a thief, ஒன் றைமற்றொன்றாகமதித்தல். சொற்றிரிபு, s. Change in the form of a word, as of a gerund for an infinitive. பொருட்டிரிபு, Change of meaning, or compound terms having different meanings, according to the manner in which they are read or accented. திரிபுவிகாரம், s. [in gram.] The change of one letter for another. திரிபணி, s. A figure of speech, a metaphor, ஓரலங்காரம், as தாடகமலத்தானடந்து கட்குவளையானோக்கி, she walked with red lotus legs, and looked forth with குவளை flower eyes. 40)

tamiẕ (p. 223) s. Sweetness, pleasantness, melodiousness, இனிமை. 2. The tamil language, தமிழ்ப்பாஷை; of which there are two principal divisions, செந்தமிழ், high, or polished Tamil and கொடுந்தமிழ், common, or unpolished Tamil. A further division is இயற்றமிழ், prose, இசைத்தமிழ், poetic, and நாடகத்தமிழ், dramatic Tamil. For particulars, see these in their places. 3. Nature, state, quality, நீர்மை--Note. When used adjectively, ழ் sometimes changes to ழ. தமிழப்பிள்ளை, s. A tamil lad. 2. [vul.] A tamil man. தமிழவண்ணான், s. Washerman of caste people. தமிழன், s. (fem. தமிழச்சி.) Tamil poets; (lit.) they in whom classical Tamil lives. தமிழ்வேதம், s. A book of four-thousand parts, நாலாயிரப்பிரபந்தம். 2.
